Interactive Adventure: Introduction
The sun began to dip below the trees as you finally packed up your bag. You hadn’t intended to stay this long at school/work, but there were some loose ends you needed to finish before heading home. As you stepped outside, you went over the options for your walk home. There are several different paths you can take, which do you choose?
[Note: Your town is safe, you’re not going to get hurt with any choice. That’s not what the story is about.]
1: Normal sidewalk path through the middle of town
2. A shortcut path through the small forest
3. A longer path around the backside of town and along the lake (you will get home a little later, but the view of the sunset is really beautiful)
4. The longer path through town, where you cross a lovely bridge.
As you enjoy your walk home and the sky darkens, the wind picks up a bit, and the sky becomes cloudy. It wasn’t forecast to rain today, but it’s not unusual for there to be random showers this time of year. You decide to just hurry on home and not waste time, just in case it starts to rain.
You arrive home safely and begin your evening routine to get ready for bed. Once you lie down, you quickly fall asleep. You must have been extra tired today. You find yourself dreaming about your walk home. This time, as the sky darkens and the wind picks up, it actually begins to rain. Your dream self is soaked and shivering. “I’m going to get sick,” you think to yourself as you continue walking through the rain. When you finally reach home, it seems that your door looks different. It just feels ever so slightly off to you. “I must already be catching a cold,” you say as you reach out to unlock and open the door. When you open the door, your eyes open as well, and you’re lying in bed.
“What a strange dream,” you thought as you sat up in bed and placed a hand to your forehead. You do feel a bit warm; maybe you are running a slight fever. You stood up to go to the bathroom and wash your face when you finally realized you weren’t in your room. You weren’t even in your bed. You were on the floor as you stood up, you looked around you, and realized you were in an entirely different world.
