When I make the floral simple syrup I always just take little bits of everything that's available so that it's different every time. Sure, I could make a simple syrup out of only forsythia or only lilac...but why would I want to do that? That's not going to provide depth of flavor nor is it going to help my allergies if I only consume pollen from forsythia or lilac. I just gather whatever is in my little garden into a little basket while I twirl around my backyard pretending I'm in a ghibli film or in some other soft aesthetic-driven cottagecore fantasy that I use to escape this droning-on-ass reality I'm currently living in. Oh my god I am so sick of doing the fucking dishes.

I wonder if in the future people will understand just how much covid-19 influenced this season of Doctor Who. like the themes of world destruction when it feels like you personally can do nothing about it, the desire to help other people, the dark humor, the physical separation from people you love, “acceptable loss,” the idea that if you could go back in time and pinpoint the exact moment where everything went to shit you absolutely would but also that moment is impossible to find, sexual tension with your best friend/housemate/secret crush, the feeling of looking in the mirror and not recognizing your own face because you’ve been changed by the world around you, talking to yourself in an empty room, the feeling of just wanting your mum and dad to hug you, the idea that things are supposedly back to normal and then the sudden horrible threat of death (again), maybe even going hungry, if not for food but for physical closeness, perhaps.
