Okay I just finished rereading the Dream Thieves and I’m here to rant about how obvious it is that the night horrors from TRC represent internalized homophobia. So, at the end of the Dream Thieves, Ronan comes to terms with his sexuality and liking of Adam. After doing so, he learns how to tame his night horrors and control them. It’s practically said in the text, saying that the dreams are him, and why he hates himself. However, Kavinsky, Ronan’s paralell, who seems to have similar struggles as Ronan in regards to his sexuality, (If you disagree, please read the book) allows his night horrors to kill him. Aka, Ronan learned to accept himself, while Kavinsky succumbed to his self hatred. It’s incredibly sad, but also beautiful in a way. I swear, the amount of essays I could write on this book.

you know how gansey and adam are character foils of each other?? and how they both dated blue, and she chose one of them, and dumped the other? you know how they are white boys with brown hair and one comes from money and one doesn't? and how they each have a deep jealousy of the other's lifestyle? gansey likes simpler, broken things and adam works hard as fuck to make money & build prestige? how one of them became magic and the other one chased magic? how they're both possessed by magic(gansey is possessed by the chase of glendower, adam by cabeswater)? how gansey is the river and air, and adam is the dust and fire? and how they are broken in so many ways & you know it should blow up but it doesn't? and how they're still best friends? geez, all of this was so evil.
