Silver Sucker

She watches her aunt slip the bangle on her arm. fire burned weaker than this metal. Sleeves too long for jewelry cannot hide the glimmer of shiny grey she now adorns. This doesn’t quite fit her. Its adjustable but every widening and narrowing is too tight and too loose.

“Silver absorbs the black in your body,” the elder said with a straight face.

Bile rises to the niece’s throat.

“It takes away the toxins in your body. Once this,” raising the bangled arm, “turns black, you brush it bleach white.”

The niece doesn’t dare ask for a source. Her stomach hurts from the mysterious pills taken last night. Her family told her her trust in them was important. A contradiction would lead to restrictions on her grain rations.

Her aunt smiles. She’s five shades darker than her niece but wearing foundation three tones light. Sun spots and freckles pockmark her face.

“This way, you’ll finally be fit to work.” The aunt says proudly, “Another remedy for the disease western medicine couldn’t fix about you.”

some beach, ocean, and sea blurbs I randomly think about

the ocean greets coldly but somehow I miss the frigidity every time

she cuts my feet until shell and bone r one. she ossifies the softness I run to her with.

envelope me in sea water until I beg to learn how to swim. children have dreams of swimming with the fishes. the price of that joy, I will happily pay

sand is soft sanctuary and punishment from the crashing waves

sailors fall to her yet here I stand unable to drown in her beauty

it started out simple. a handful of sand. a clam broken by feathers. seaweed wrapped around my foot. I left with her what she couldn’t have and took trinkets as a sign she loved me.

I’ve been balling my eyes out more than every other episode watching Frieren, meaning this is one the greatest shows I’ve ever watched

did I cry into an absurd amount of tissues? yes

was I trying to make myself feel better by eating ice cream? yes

did Frieren’s actions of trying to understand humans better make me reflect on my own interactions? yes

do frieren’s often muted emotions feel too relatable? yes, on the account I’ve been diagnosed

have I cried enough tears? no ofc not. every time flamme or the hero group come on screen i become a leaky faucet

was watching daytime tv at my local diner a couple of days ago and there was this guest wearing a starchy suit but it had a heart patch on the pocket like this ↓

and I just thought this is how I want to dress up for work and I think my polisci prof who made the bomb joke has that suit in his rotation

my (two) friends have tomodachi life and they both created a mii of me

originally it started out as a joke to see how I would act as a polisci lad and if I should get a copy of the game for my writing ocs to interact like how friend one has their game set up and to spur some writing inspo and uhhhhhh

they’ve been giving me updates on what my mii has been doing on their islands and so far I’ve:

haven’t attempted forgiveness even when given a “getting over urself” book

fallen in love with friend two

bonded over and became friends with friend two over connor storrie’s ass on their island

I’m hedging my bets that my mii will start another fight and stage a coup
