I was rewatching the hallway scene, right, and someone’s probably said this but do you guys ever just think that if Scully had never said “you don’t need me, Mulder, you never have. I’ve just held you back.” He would’ve never gave her that speech?

When she says that his eyes widen and he’s stunned, and in that moment he’s maybe thinking *oh my god, she doesn’t know.*

And maybe then he thinks that he has to tell her, and he does. He tells her that she makes him a whole person, that she’s kept him honest. That’s almost the same as him telling her that he loves her.

He’s astounded that she appeared to genuinely not know how he felt, and in that moment the only thing that was important to him was that she *knew* because he needed her to stay, he needed her with him.

Ignore me, I’m just constantly crying over them 😭🙏

Thinking about what established mudshock would look like for s10 march of the oni.

The dilemna for jay is not when or how he should propose, but the who. He agonizes over the logistics of the yin yang promise in a relationship of three. Especially one thats romantically a V instead of a triad. And how he wants to show he loves them equally. But theres only one yin and one yang. Does he do this seperately? Who would he propose to first? Would that mean he values one over the other? Is he even allowed to use the yin yang promise in a relationship with three? Would it even make sense?

And silly man realizes he cant do both at once. Silly man is too hung up on tradition instead of doing things their own special way. Silly man doesnt recognize the significance and symbolism of three. Yin and yang yes, but Past present future. Sun moon stars. Beginning middle end. Mind body soul. Earth sky sea. Sometimes things that look like they have an opposite, actually have a hidden third that binds the two together. Balance is more then two complimentary sides. A triangle is structurally the most sound foundation. Yin and yang promise might traditionally signifiy the commitment between two, but symbolically there are other ways to represent three.

But cole dying ends up giving jay an easy out. In a cruel twist of fate, he no longer has this dilemna since its now just him and nya. The universe solved it for him. (He hates that. He wants him back. He wants them all together again). Not to mention the angst surrounding these three since it was nya who accidentally kills cole. Not to mention all the guilt nya holds

Now him agonizing over this makes him realize how much it cost him. He regrets that something as trivial got in the way of him doing what actually matters, showing his love for his two partners no matter what that means. And that he shouldve gone with what his heart was telling him instead of what he thinks other people are telling him (represented in the traditions of the yinyang promise). He feels guilty and sad but realizes that cole dying should not stop him from sharing his promise with nya. He cant let another thing be an excuse to stop him from expressing his love and commitment for someone.

But before he can, cole returns and instead of being hung up over something stupid, he's relieved. Bc theyre a trio. He loves these two very much and doesnt care about schemantics. They all are together and therefore it shouldnt matter what some tradition valuing two signifies. So he gives them each the yin and yang in the middle of battle in typical jay fashion. And ofc nya and cole say yes and we get mudshock hug and kisses :]

And later nya and cole scheme together and using part of their yin/yang, create a third pendant (nya blacksmith moment. Girl i know youre actually canonically better then kai at this stuff. Let you shine here. Pair this with cole's artistic side). They reshape theirs so that with all three combined it creates the wheel of joy.

Together as a unified front, cole and nya give the third piece to jay. :]

Anyways. I want to imagine this is how it went for these three in our nin-jumble au @psychologicalwarclaire
