This blog explores the complex situations of a human suffering and tormented with the details of his limited immortality. Having become a familiar to a vampire lord decades past, Renfield has suffered greatly at the hand of his master. Upon reaching the modern era, he has begun to regain a sense of self and is currently going to therapy to deal with PTSD and surviving abuse.

I am so sorry I've been so busy. Now that I've moved to my new town, I've spent all July working on Artfight and taking care of chronically ill family members.

But, Artfight is almost over.

It wasn't a bad idea. A trinket from the village nearby would certainly be a sweet gift. But what Renfield didn't know yet was that Lisa already had quite an affection for the young thrall.

It was always hard for castle staff to grasp- the woman was near the polar opposite of her husband. Where Vlad was cruel, angry, and hostile, his wife had an open heart and gentle hands. That had been what drew him to her, all those years ago. This brazen but loving young maiden demanding a chance to learn the great knowledge of immortals, to save lives and heal the sick...

One could make comparisons to fairytales, they way they fell in love.

She wondered how much her husband had told Renfield, if anything. He was a secretive man at times- not with her, of course, never with her. But with the staff... well.

Oh, but Renfield did have the right idea. Small acts of kindness certainly would win her over- as if the boy hadn't already done so already.

Renfield took heed of his mistress' words and made his way carefully through the estate's gardens. He could not help his eye from wandering and spotting a section of the garden that would collect a fair bit of sunlight during the daylight hours. Perhaps he would be permitted to make a suitable place for him to sit and bask in the sun's warmth when he was not working. Yes, that would be nice. But that was not something he should be thinking of currently. Evening would be arriving soon and he work to do.

Learning his way to the village nearby took longer than he liked. He felt a bit foolish at lateness. The sun had almost fully dipped below the horizon and he had only just gotten to town. His luck showed as his search did not take long before he discovered a brash and foolish young woman. She seemed strong and full of life, surely a meal with merit.

Knocking her unconscious proved surprisingly difficult. That had to be a bright indicator of her vitality. He gathered up his master's meal and paused. Cringing slightly, he looked up. Darkness had settled quite definitively over the land. His own spirit sunk.

Looking about, he charted the best means for escape. As he was gathering up his prize, a shimmer caught his eye. A trinket of some kind had fallen from the woman's bag. Gathering up the item, he gently investigated it. It was like a large locket with he front crafted into the shape of a chrysanthemum. With a careful hand he opened it. Inside in held what appeared to lip stain of an enchanting color. The locket had obviously just been bought, she never even had the chance to use it.

This was perfect!

His mistress would love it. Right? Of course, of course she would.

Renfield shook his head. Hands shaking as a he shoved the locket into the pocket of his suit. He bundled up his master's meal and rushed back to the estate as best he could while also keeping himself hidden. Doubt and unease weighing on his mind.

Perhaps Mistress would not like her present just as Master would not be pleased with his late meal.

Dear oh dear, Renfield was making quite the terrible impression.

"Small world indeed, like, wow." Phil grinned. He had only ever dropped his glamour outside the church three times in his sixty years of existence- once when he snuck out to attend a human Halloween party, once to frighten away a religious protestor, and now. This was the first time it truly felt safe to do so. This guy, this Robert, was so chill! Chill about speaking with a being from Hell itself!

He hid his tail again, mostly because it had started wagging more ferociously at Robert's little laugh.

"So, uhhh," Phil said, suddenly shy, "you can get to your destination okay? 'cause I don't mind walkin' with you. It's nice to be 'round someone outside the church who, um, 'gets it,' y'know?" He smiled nervously.

"Ah, yes." Robert's smile wavered a tiny bit. "I quite aware of that feeling. a bit, well, freeing, I suppose."

His voice dropped low. There was just so much to think about with recent events. It was exhausting in a way. Soothing in another. Each new moment where he was out from under Dracula's claw felt like he was no longer a bug pinned to a display board. A curious sensation.

Not quite as curious sensation as it was talking to Phil, though. That feel was far more different. Strange in the best way.

"I really do not wish to pull you from your duties. I am well aware that having tasks tend to keep one on a short leash." He fidgeted with the cuff of his sweater. "But I think I would quite enjoy the company of someone so similar walking with me. Though I-I have made friends here, humans perhaps will never quite under- understand all this. yes?"

This move is taking more of my time than I expected. Also, an old neck injury has been acting up lately and I can't move around much because of it.

The other 'man' took the offered hand and gave Robert an extremely well-researched and rehearsed handshake and snickered. "Ahh, that makes sense, I think. I'm somewhere close on the, uhhh, corporate ladder, if you will." He let go before the handshake crossed over into that weird state of awkward hand wriggling. He then glanced around and, deeming it safe to do so, let enough of his glamour slip that his tail became visible. It was long and thin and tipped with a flat equilateral triangle. And it was wagging, much like a dog's might.

"Don't be scared, please- I'm a nameless ghoul, an' I serve Him Below. Prince of Darkness. The Morning Star. Y'know..." Phil made a vague gesture, as though trying to get Robert to fill in the blank.

Robert drew his hand back and let Phil talk. He figured he probably should have been surprised or startled when the glamour fell. But he wasn't. His time in service of Dracula, he had seen many strange things. He had seen powerful beings, many of which actually had different glamours. What did surprise him was his own smile. He couldn't help it. It was oddly comforting, meeting someone else from a similar type of existence.

"Ah, yes, well, I would say that makes a great deal of sense." He laughed softly. Feeling a bit more bounce to his spirit. "There is no doubt then that our bosses have worked together more than once. Small world, I suppose."

Given the context of both the character and the movie, this blog will cover several forms of abuse. The muse is a victim of physical, emotional, and verbal abuse. As such, those topics will be primary to all threads.

Extremely important Shipping rule:

Renfield has been heavily abused. His autonomy has been removed from him for roughly 90 years. He is used to being submissive to anyone he has imprinted emotionally on. Because of this, I cannot in good conscious do insta-love ships. Muses that wish to ship with him need to befriend him and earn his trust first. He has to be able to fully consent to a romantic or sexual relationship.

I have the right to terminate the thread if you try pushing an insta-love angle.

Mandatory Basics:

This blog is 18+ only. You need to display the mun and the muse’s age on your blog.

This blog is low activity. Don’t rush me for replies. I get to them when I have the chance and the spoons for it. I am finishing up my final semester of college and I am my disabled sister’s caretaker, this blog comes secondary to that.

I require introductory threads for all characters. Unless your muse is Dracula or Rebecca Quincy, my muse has not met your muse and therefore does not know them.

Do not control my muse unless I have given you permission to.

Please use a minimum of two sentences per reply unless we’ve known each other for a while. I need something to reply to. Your grammar and English do not have to be perfect. So long as I can get the basics of what you’re saying then we’re fine to continue.

If I write a huge amount, you don’t have to match length if it exhausts you. Shipping: This blog is multiship. Every muse I play with will be in their own universe unless we all work something else out.

Perhaps it was rude- but Lisa couldn't contain the laugh that bubbled out at his question.

"For your leisure, silly boy- You should know you won't be working all the time, don't you?"

There was no malice in her smile, instead a heartfelt softness. She truly did mean it. Renfield was a member of the staff, but he was also a resident of the castle now. It was going to be his home too, and with that came some privileges. Surely her husband hadn't made the poor man think he would have no freedoms in this place..

If he had, she would have some words for him.

"This is your home too, Renfield. You are part of the House Dracul now." Hands folded over her waist, Lisa seemed to shift softly on her feet. She moved with such ease, as if the world were simple. Perhaps it was.

At least, it was to her.

The sound of her laughter startled Renfield. He jerked back the slightest bit, staring at her with wide eyes. Her words took a moment to clarify in his mind. He opened his mouth to reply but quickly cut off his own voice before he could speak. If he was honest, he didn't believe her. Master had made it quite clear that he was here to serve. There was a lot of work to be done and meals to be carefully planned. Master had told him to be on his best behavior for his master's wife.

He lifted his hand to interject but thought better of it. He quickly dropped it again. Clasping his hands together, he fumbled an awkward bow. Telling her that she must be incorrect would be terribly rude!

"Tha- thank you, Mistress. Really." He tugged his suit cuff down once more. A small smile, more a grimace, was offered to her. "I will, uhm, keep- keep that in mind."

"I, well, I must-" He jerked his hand back to motion towards the door of the main hall. "I really must be going to, um, fetch Master's dinner. Please, call me if you require anything when I return."

He nodded once more before turning. His step quickened as he headed for the door. A weight sunk down in his chest. His thoughts drifted to his Master's wife. Surely, that pitiful behavior had made a lasting impression on his mistress. She must think him a bumbling fool as his tongue had seemed to tie around his own words. There must be a way to fix this. Master would not approve of there being missteps in Renfield's employment.

Perhaps a gift would fix things!

Yes, something from the town in which Renfield would search for victims. Surely there must be something there he could bring to present to his mistress and ensure their good standing. Master would approve!
