when it comes to character pairings i often try to view it from different angles of the writing, viewing it from headcanons, and dynamic analysis, while also keeping in mind what the logical intent behind them were, especially with the authors and time periods. i try to see how a pairing works in their fiction and how the outside of said fiction affected it.

sam and max however i don't fucking know man. only steve purcell knows for sure at this point

it's mainly bc in their earlier media, the comics, cartoon, and games, they often played around with the whole queerbait thing and "haha theyre like gay but theyre just friends actually. don't assume theyre actually gay thats weird. but they are gay actually but in a funny way", you gotta keep in mind these were from the 80s-2010s. but nowadays its like. well are they? i mean theres subtext isnt there? and homophobic jokes did get removed in the remasters didnt they? like? things change over time and it's a rather interesting observation. theyre like shrodingers queecoding/baiting to me. who fucking knows man
