That the Supreme Court voted to uphold birthright citizenship shouldn’t be exciting or cause for celebration. That was a bare minimum expectation.

What we should all be very concerned about is that it was only upheld 6-3, with Kavanaugh concurring and dissenting in part. That three justices are so comfortable disregarding not just the plain text of the 14th Amendment, but the legislative history that went into crafting it, the constitutional processes for ratifying amendments, and who are eager to see a President wrest unchecked executive and legislative power with full approval from highest court in the land, is not just concerning. It’s a neon-red alarm and a terrifying reminder that one party and one agenda neither believes it needs nor must it answer to the majority of the people it governs.
