piper-snow:
“And you know that isn’t true, Grayson.” was all Piper said. Even with his soft grin she could just see the sadness remain in his eyes. The sight of it just hit her in the gut every time “We all have one of those years…” Piper said softly before she said anything else she let the silence fill the air. Just letting it be him and her in the moment. “I’ve missed you…” She whispered.
“It’s not exactly wrong either.” Grayson finished, letting things lie where they may. She was right, but even so he couldn’t see it in himself being more than what he was taught to believe he was. Even lost in his own despair, Grayson found a light in her, one he thought the world had lost. She gave him hope that things might be better. “But some days made it worth it.” Only a few came to mind and those were the ones he clung to make it worth getting up in the morning. Grayson moved his hand to reach for hers, but he stopped himself. “I’m ready to stop missing you.” He let a smile play on his lips as the words came out soft and low. “I’m ready to stop feeling like I can’t be your friend.”
