“YES!!” The single word is shrieked in response to the question, hand rising to point in the direction of the other. “Whatever your new breathing is, it makes you a ghost, of course you are going to have to stomp!!”
Zenitsu trembles as he stands before Nikko, unwilling to let go of the perceived slight, at least until he catches the way they flinch and jump. That mellows him a little, caught between panic and amusement, though it still takes some time before his breathing evens and he can look at them a little more calmly.
“What were you trying to do?”
Even though Zenitsu was easily, so easily, riled up and spooked, Nikko still felt a pang of guilt in their heart for startling him. Really, anyone expected him to scream even at a leaf falling on the ground sometimes. Even Nikko expected it. But they still wanted to be courteous to their friend. “Okay, noted! I’m sorry for scaring you!”
The fellow, much shorter, demon slayer wanted for Zenitsu to calm down for them to speak. The question made them give a small smile. Right, back on track. Dawn was starting to come and they wanted him to see a site they thought was absolutely breathtaking. And after a night of fighting and wandering, they were sure he’d appreciate some serenity. “I wanted to show you something! Can you come with me? It won’t take long, I promise.”
Hashibira has Shinazugawa’s gun and some Kakushi just cannot know peace. “Why are we here, just to suffer—”

“I’m still not really all that cool under pressure, actually—” The young student confessed lightly. One hand rubbed the back of their neck, and the other waved their hand idly.
“But when it came to training, my aunt let me in on something that actually helped my dad a lot. He could do a lot of spider stuff too, and actually turned into a giant spider. That was his entire quirk. It was essentially a breathing technique that just really helps me focus. As long as I keep that breathing technique down pat, I can essentially be more useful and reliable-! Uh, my words, not hers—”
Biting the inside of their cheek, they perked up realizing something else, a small memory they missed. They grinned sheepishly. “There was also this dance that’s been in my family for a while. At the beginning of each year, my dad performed it and the family watched. I remember it pretty clearly, even if it was like, years ago, and sometimes I kind of incorporate it into fighting and my movement! Keeps me light on my feet and ready to move. Also keeps me pretty flexible.”

I FORGOT TO PUT THIS HERE BUT LIKE... I think a lot about Tu.rning R.ed and at the end of it, and how much Nikko needs that closure like the daughter and mother did. They need that with their uncle but they’re not gonna get it and it hurts them a lot. Because they also strive to be perfect, but they hit roadblock after roadblock of how they just are not perfect in the slightest. To be told “The farther you go, the prouder I’ll be” is something that would help them so much, because they need to realize they can’t be perfect, but they can still keep moving past their mistakes and shortcomings, and still improve themself, without being perfect.

“Here’s the funny part— I also have arachnophobia.” Nikko, how. “I think that is still mortifying, and I think it does count. From what I know, my dad could turn different parts of himself into a spider, like more eyes, arms, legs, what have you. So either way, I am emotionally fighting for my life.”
“You guys ever just think about how terrifying it would be if I had my dad’s quirk and I just became a giant spider? I mean, come to think about it, I’m not really all that big, but considering many people have arachnophobia—”
They are starting to ramble, and they are sitting on the ceiling as they talk about the hypothetical rather nonchalantly. Terrifying, actually.

“WHY ARE YOU STANDING BEHIND ME!!”
Shrieked words are issued in tandem with feet shuffling backwards, something between shock and outrage streaking across Zenitsu’s expression. Hands wave in front of his face for a moment, head shaking at the perceived audacity of the other slayer before he huffs. They are too sneaky, footsteps too light for him to pick up even with his advanced hearing.
“Don’t sneak up on me Nikko, my heart can’t take it!”
They could’ve sworn that their footsteps were loud enough for Zenitsu. Not only that, but he had much better hearing than them, so the fact he was still startled by them confused them. Then again, their new breathing technique made them constantly light on their feet, despite already being rather light. The shriek made Nikko jump nearly a foot in the air backwards, hands raised and palms shown.
“Sorry, sorry— I’m really sorry, Zenitsu!” Their words were genuine at least, worry on their face for nearly giving their already jumpy friend a heart attack. “I thought you could hear me! Do I need to stomp or something?”

The new demon slayer sat there on the ground, back against a tree as they tried to catch their breath and slow it down. The webbing that had came from their blade seemed to actually be good material for a tourniquet on their leg. Their breathing style was unlocked not too long ago— just tonight, and they were proud of themself for it. They still were, in the back of their mind, for their spider breathing.
But right now they needed to slow their blood flow. A demon had cut off their leg so easily, and adrenaline and shock made it not hurt right now. But they were tired. But the kakushi were here to help, and Haru was here to get them back to safety off Mountain Natagumo.
“I... I don’t think I can... I’m sorry...” Nikko admitted quietly, looking at their leg, or lack thereof, before back up at the other teenager. “The demon’s gone, right..? Or dead? I don’t... feel them. Not from the ground.”
