IF ONLY HER AWARENESS WAS AS HIGH as her spirits — maybe then would the red flags come to mind. She’s warned and warned about the dangers of strangers, how she shouldn’t be so pleased to interact with those she doesn’t know. Oh, but the thought of making a new friend was so exciting to the little orphan. Ari simply loved the happiness that flowers brought, and she thought that perhaps giving them to others would make them as happy as flowers made her. That’s how it works, right?! Ari believed strongly in that kind of magic.
SO, after she spends plenty of time gathering the prettiest flowers in the park, she then sought out friendly faces — or, simply, those that seemed in need of flowers. In need of a SMILE. The man she talks to now certainly falls into the latter group. He’s a bit scary from afar, a face that doesn’t seem kind and a large stature that casts darkness onto hers. But Ari knows better than to think like that, those were not good thoughts! Not at all. GOOD thoughts come when you don’t judge a book by the cover.
Little Ari proceeds towards him; she’s finally close enough, and she sees it. Oh, she sees it well. Underneath that dark exterior that appeared frightening from afar is LIGHT. It’s right there, shimmering in his eye!
Thankfully, her hopefulness is fed when she hears the man talk, a gentle tone with sophisticated manner. Oh, he knows fancy words — all the adults know the fancy words! Her heart can’t help but to feel so bright right now, and it beams through every part of Ari. Her eyes shimmering with innocence, a smile as wide as can be, and cheerful, bouncy movements as a little hand is kept on his knee — to keep her balance, and only for that.
“ yes, plll … please! th — they’re all for mister! ” says Ari with a nod. Now, plenty more flowers accompany the small daisy. Added to his lap is a yellow daffodil, a pink tulip, and a bundle of white forget - me - not’s — in short, the prettiest flowers that she found today. Once she’s done removing all that she has from her basket, she casts that bright, toothy grin back up his way. NO FEAR. No reason to feel it.
“ m — mister can have aaaall my flowers, plll … please! I … I want him to have them all! ” continues the child, “ — do they make m — mister happy, please … ? I … I hope they make him vvv … v — very, very happy! ”
━ 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐔𝐆𝐆𝐋𝐄𝐃 𝐃𝐑𝐀𝐖𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐎𝐅 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐃𝐒 would bring an unfamiliar sensation tugging upon the inside of his chest ; her innocence is particularly curious , he would note , as his habitual studying of others had each action she carried out become the muse for his personal understanding . the way the girl stumbles into his vicinity , places a bouquet of assorted floral gifts upon his lap with a tiny hand rested on his joint &. expresses a childlike interest in him with a kindly smile has kayn almost at a loss for words . did he find it wholesome , perhaps ? there wasn’t much that could bring a rather polite chuckle for him to acknowledge ones presence , but the little one was indeed exempt from this notion .
without a spoken word just yet , fingers adorned with a variety of rings would gather each flower &. examine them individually with such care , mentally listing one before bundling them up beside him &. moving on to the next .
how could one present him with such treasures without a clue of his reasoning for contributing his presence to many already gathered in the park ? could he actually accept these ? someone’s life is in his hands , yet another’s would willingly come to him , offering an assortment of coloured flowers that certainly did not match his dark attire in the slightest . after carefully surveying each blossom , kayn’s attention would drift back to his unlikely companion .
━ “ well , aren’t you a darling ? “ he’d comment , his posture shifting to accomodate her uneven balance , ( he’d noticed it even before she reached him ) , “ thank you kindly , little lady . i’ll make sure to put this in a vase at home , so they can keep their colours . &. what might your name be ? surely it’s only right to know the name of the one who has made my day ! “
