ok so I was just scrollin away throught the queer eye tag like my normal gay self, and I came across a tag that I have never seen before; #anti queer eye….

yes #anti queer eye is a tag, and it is entirely populated by one blog (which I will not name, yall can look it up if you really want to) the 26-year-old blog owner, who’s pronouns I cannot remember (its late for me you guys I’m sorry) posts about the cast being uneducated about trans culture and being transphobic.

I understand that while the QE cast does not include a trans member, and they may not be well educated on the finite details of trans culture, they are on the show to learn just as much as the people they make over are there to learn. I dont know much about the trans community seing as I am not a part of it (and I fully recognise my priviledge as a cis female, and I am in no way trying to speak for the trans comminuty this is purely based off of my observations and personal opinions) however from what I’ve experienced and heard from my trans friends who watched that episode, it was a really great step forward for us as a society, and especially for hollywood. My friends were so excited to see someone from their community on a show that is relavant to pop culture today, and in a way that wasnt stereotyped.

Is it true that Tan was uneducated about trans culture going ito the show; hell yeah. Did he admit that he was uneducated; you bet he did. Did he make an effort to ask polite questions and learn as best he could about the trans community; damn right. In the end was the entire episode absolutely perfect and politically correct in every single possible way; no.

and thats OK

There is no possible way that anything will be that perfect, ever, becuase it all comes down to how much you want to nitpick every detail of every line that someone says. I like to take things as they are, I choose to like things becuase they are funny, or educational, or they represent a part of me that is not typically shown by western pop culture. I also like to recognise the flaws in the things I enjoy, but I dont let that destroy the show’s purpose.

All in all I believe that everyone is entitled to their opinion, but honestly queer eye teaches so many wonderful lessons and gives positive role models to so many people, that I think bashing it for things that are slightly off is somewhat childish and entirely futile in stopping the shows popularity.
