Morozumi Osamu was born in Nagano Prefecture in 1948. Initially he studied sculpture, but finally he devoted himself to woodblock print and won international recognition in the 1970s. Morozumi developed his own technique of printmaking which employs indentations made in the blocks with nails of various sizes. His forms, possessing a sculpture-like quality, are rendered in vivid colours highlighting the atmosphere of changing seasons.
