My take on "Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo"
***SPOILERS***

Loved Evelyns story. I absolutely loved the way her story was narrated and how the author very cleverly chose what to reveal and when. I loved how you were sucked into the lifestyle through multiple chapters and were forced back to reality.
I do feel that Moniques story, especially the ending, required a bit more finesse. The whole thing about her dad and how she dealt with it could have been portrayed a bit more clearly. Though I guess the confusion was the point...? Idk. That's the only part that ticked me off.
I loved that even the book title was a masked truth. That the book wasn't about the 7 husbands nor Evelyn Hugo, but about the one wife and Evelyn Herrera. It wasn't about the glamour as much as it was about her (screwed up but ultimately) loving family.
Evelyn's character is clearly a dark grey shade. She herself said that her choices might've seemed necessary but they weren't right, hell there might have been better choices but that just shows her agency. Throughout her life she gets woven in and out of the Hollywood tapestry and constantly tries to push that needle in the right direction.
