There are a couple odd references to Tahiti in Love Hina. 

I always forgot the names of these two. For some reason in my mind they're inexorably connected to that character from Chobits who scores with their hot homeroom teacher. You guys know that dude?

Worth noting that he ends up with the hot homeroom teacher, and he never wore a single weird t-shirt. Say what you will about Shimbo, but bro had styyyyle.

Do I feel bad for Kanoko? I guess I do in the grand scheme of things. To be honest, I thought Kanoko kind of showed up when Love Hina needed a shakeup, and then Akamatsu realized he didn't have a totally clear idea about what to do with her, so I find her occasionally amusing, but mostly frustrating. 

She's got her moments, though, and this is certainly one of them. Also, to make it relevant, we're treated to a great view of the indomitable "MOTOX and playground". 

Still making no sense, all these years later.
