“This is why I stopped going to church,” he began motioning his head towards the big embarrassment that was happening in front of him. It was cold as hell outside and there always had to be a streaker this time of the year to make sure people had their attention. “The Almighty let’s all of this shit happen and our eyes have to suffer.” The connection wasn’t too relevant but it got his point across. “Wanna join them?” He said to the person that was nearest to him, a sly smile playing on his lips.

"I certainly commend them for being so brave, with these temperatures and all. I know running around out in the cold boosts your metabolism but wow, at what cost?” Wendy had seen crazier things, but this was definitely the top of the list to her week.

Half of me is saying “Nah, fuck that.” The other half though says that every situation is unique, and people deserve chances to change their ways. So I don’t know. It would depend on the person.

I’m single and completely happy with it. Have been for the past 3 years or so. I’m kind of in this process of discovery, of finding out who I am, the real me. But I’m always open to the vibrations of the universe and permutations of chance.

61: Who's more important: Your partner or your family?

The important people in our lives are all bonded to us in different ways, but I think, at the end of the day, family is family, and nothing is stronger than that bond. For better or for worse.

Marshall had to take a moment, his brows furrowing as he thought about her words. Was she really being serious? “Wait,” he said, “Actual crap? People take actual shit and wipe it on their face for–what–softer skin?” He couldn’t help the laugh that escaped him as he shook his head in disbelief, but considering the things he’s come across, was it really that surprising? “You gotta tell me more about this,” he said, intrigued, “Do they–” He paused before he looked around the grocery store, his eyes scanning for the healthcare section. “Is this a commercial thing people sell?” he asked, losing himself for a moment before he shook his head, “No…right?”

“Oh god no, they don’t put it on their face,” Wendy laughed, the mere thought of it both repulsive and hilarious. Even she had her ‘gross’ limits. “From what I know, fecal therapy is about taking fecal matter that belongs to someone else and injecting it — usually up your rectum. Their bacteria mixes with yours for example say, if you have digestive problems, and it’s supposed to somehow balance it out. Nothing goes on your face. But I did hear a girl who claimed she ate her mother’s feces for that same reason. It was on my Facebook feed,” she said with a condemnatory shake of her head. “The things people will pass off as medicine.”

  Money hadn’t been an issue, but there had been a point where Leni enjoyed the things they already had, and they didn’t want to have to waste their energy on trying on a new pair of opticales. It all seemed unnecessary when they shouldn’t have lost their pair in the first place, all in all, they were thankful for the kind young girl. “Mm, yes.” Quietly Leni agreed as their eyes took a moment to observe the brunette and the way she shifted holding her bag, had it been heavy? “Care to sit?” Leni offered. “–or are you going to be a brave soul and trek the storm? You’re probably prepared with rope, an ice pick, and such.” They gestured with a soft humor. “I don’t mind the snow, but I am just as shocked as you are about it.” their fingers wrapped around their coffee mug. Speaking of the cold brewing outside made Leni want to feel some warmth. “Mother nature probably came to the realization that she can be whatever she wants to be. I say good for her. The children are probably ecstatic they don’t have to go to school.”

"I do have some rope in my car but sadly, no ice pick,” Wendy said with a smile, seamlessly slipping into a seat before the woman and placing her bag gently down on the ground. “I had to come all the way from Allston, my client said he couldn’t make it there with the roads all like this. Which I totally understand.” They were making small talk, but beyond that, there was something about the woman Wendy couldn’t quite put her finger on. It was a positive thing though, a good ‘something’. “Do you have children?” she asked, casually enough. “It might sound silly of me, but I think mother nature’s lashing out in her own way for all the things going on in the world right now.”

“All right, all right, I’ll push and you pull on three. Are you ready?” Will asked, his hands already ready to push on the door. “One, two, three.” He pushed with all his might, and the door flew open, causing him to tumble forward. “Oh – sorry.” 

That sounded like a plan that could work. On his count, Wendy steeled her grip around the handle, and just when he pushed, she pulled. It worked —too well. Wendy went stumbling backwards, but regained her footing just in time not to go down. “You’re free!”

Robin let out a short laugh after hearing the woman’s comment. So now the woman was basically promoting the work she was in? Perhaps it was because she was the complete opposite, or just because she hated promoting her own work. “ I guess now I can’t just not check it out, right? ”

“Well, if you wanna,” Wendy said with a shrug. “She couldn’t be here tonight so she made me promise me I’d talk up her work and well, you know, the more interest the better, right?”

I could write the artsiest, most pretentious thing in the entire world, but no one would come see it. If not, they do get a bit self-indulgent, you know? Have you ever sat through a full play or anything?” 

“Then who do they do it for, those pretentious ones? For themselves?” Both her brothers had caught the acting bug at school, at one point or another, but it had never gripped Wendy. She had never felt the pull for the stage. “I mean school plays aside... yeah. Once. It was an open summer-theater type deal though, Midsummer Night’s Dream set in a forest. Shakespeare’s totally up my alley, so I loved it. Oh no, wait— I did see this kind of experimental one once, in New York. But it was so dark and dim in the theater I felt like I was asleep half the time.”

Robin huffed before a short laughed escaped her lips. “ Exactly. ” So far no one had described the piece better than the other. It was literally the scene she’d imagine to see during a holiday to Italy, Greece or any other southern European country she so longed to see. And that was it. A moment of emptiness. The need to paint, but the lack of inspiration drowning her in even more emptiness. “ A photo series more interesting than paintings? ” Robin gave the other a small nod. “ Not the biggest fan of photography. Besides so far all photographers I’ve met were absolute assholes. ”

"Sure, why not.” To Wendy, art was art, whether that be a painting or a sculpture, or a sound piece like John Cage. “Well, she did a series about Route 66. Went out there, took photos of people, families, kids she met along the way. Worth checking out I think, and I don’t say this just because I’m biased for being in one of the photos.” Well maybe it was a little bit of that.

Marshall gave her a slow nod, his eyes following her hand as she held up the piece of seaweed for him to see. It was the main reason he was staring at her for so long, and it came as no surprise to him that most people didn’t say anything. “At least it wasn’t something worse,” he replied, “like–I don’t know. Crap?” He actually didn’t know that much about face masks. Ironically, those kinds of things sounded like crap to him.

"Oh, no,” Wendy laughed, not really sure what kind of people he hung around with if they walked around with crap on their faces. “I’ve heard good things about fecal therapy, but I don’t think the way it works is by smearing it on your face. Even if it did, I’m not the brave soul who’d try it.”
