EX WERDER PLAYERS— WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

Petri Pasanen: The Finnish international left Bremen at the end of last season after seven years with the Green-Whites and is now playing for Red Bull Salzburg in Austria.

Boubacar Sanogo: When Pizarro made his return to Werder in 2009, 'Bouba' was soon loaned out to TSG Hoffenheim. He then transferred to French first division side, Saint-Étienne.

Ivan Klasnić: The striker left Bremen after a legal dispute with the club and moved to FC Nantes. In the 2009/10 season, Klasnić joined English side Bolton Wanderers. Since his departure, he has not been able to hit top form because of his kidney transplant.

Mohamed Zidan: During Zidan's time at Werder, he scored three goals in fifteen appearances. A loan spell with Mainz saw him score 9 in 26 and then 13 in 15 once he had moved permanently. After a stint with Hamburg SV, he now plays for Borussia Dortmund.

EX WERDER PLAYERS— WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

Per Mertesacker: The defender moved from Hannover 96 to WerderBremen in 2006. In the summer of 2011, he joined English club Arsenal FC for around 10 million Euros.

Peter Niemeyer: The Werder midfielder was loaned out to then-second division side Hertha Berlin in the summer of 2010, and decided to stay after their promotion back up to 1. Bundesliga at the start of this season.

Torsten Frings: Werder's longtime leader and team captain ended his Bundesliga career at the end of the 2010/11 season. Hemoved to Canada and now plays for Toronto FC.

Mesut Özil: The midfielder left Bremen in summer 2010 for Spanish side Real Madrid. He is now regularly featured in the starting XI.
