A Goth, A Cherry Blossom, A Tender Flame
Today was like any other day. Students wake up early in the morning, get changed and eat breakfast, and head to school. Though for some students, school feels like torture. Especially for a student by the name of Hayden Rouless, a werewolf with black hair, blue-green eyes, pale skin, and dirty blonde wolf ears and tail.
"Hopefully I can just finish my work early and just sleep the school day away," Hayden yawned as he rubbed his eye and adjusted his backpack on his shoulder. He then entered the school building, the bustling sound of other students annoying him as his ears flattened against his head.
"Why is everyone so loud every morning?" He muttered before he walked past all the students, finding an empty hallway as he sat down and pulled a book out of his backpack and began reading. But unfortunately, after a few minutes, Garroth and Laurance arrived.
"Hey Hayden!" Garroth greeted, causing Hayden to sigh as he looked up at the two, "Don't you have anybody to hangout with at the front?"
"I'm goth. What do you think?" He replied, rolling his eyes before he resumed reading.
"Huh. I mean, you could hangout with Garroth's brother, Zane," Laurance suggested, as Hayden looked up at him from under his hair while Garroth looked at him in confusion, "Because you're both goth. Almost all the goths I've seen before you two became freshmen were in friend groups."
"Ohh! Yeah, no, I definitely think you two could be good friends!" Garroth stated, smiling brightly as he liked the idea of his baby brother finally having a friend.
"Hmph. Maybe," Hayden muttered before the bell rang.
"Right, well, I'll try to convince Zane to hangout with you during lunch tomorrow," Garroth stated before he and Laurance began walking to class while Hayden stood up, "See you around Hayden!"
Hayden simply waved before he began walking to class. But as he was walking past the front entrance, the doors suddenly burst open, spooking Hayden as he looked over and saw that it was Kawaii~chan, who was late. He then noticed that she was slightly drenched from the rain outside as she sighed and grabbed a hair brush from her purse.
"H-hey, um, d-do you need any help?" Hayden mustered up the courage to walk over and ask, spooking Kawaii~chan before she quickly calmed down.
"Um... Does Kawaii~chan know you from somewhere?" She asked as she was hesitant from receiving help from him.
"Uh, we have the same homeroom? I sat two seats away from you?" Hayden stated, as Kawaii~chan tilted her head in confusion, Hayden sighing as he blushed slightly, "Almost everyone laughed when the teacher called me out for sleeping when he shouted my last name..."
"Ohhh! Now Kawaii~chan remembers you!" Kawaii~chan smiled, causing Hayden's tail to droop before she held her hairbrush forward, "Kawaii~chan wouldn't mind you helping brush her hair, but isn't Hayden-sama worried about being late?"
"Eh, not really. I usually finish my work quickly and nap anyway," Hayden shrugged as he took the brush, the two having walked over and sat on a bench, Kawaii~chan facing the entrance as Hayden began brushing her hair, "Anyway, I'm more worried about why you don't have an umbrella."
"Oh, um... Kawaii~chan didn't think it'd rain this early, and she got stuck at a boss stop before realizing that she'd be late," she sheepishly and quietly admitted, as Hayden sighed and took his jacket off.
"Here, you can borrow my jacket since I have an umbrella. Just make sure to give it back tomorrow," Hayden stated as he carefully reached around and dropped his jacket on her lap before continuing to brush her hair.
"Th-thanks Hayden-sama," Kawaii~chan spoke softly, enjoying the kindness she was receiving, even though it did feel a bit foreign to her. But after a few minutes, Hayden finished brushing her hair as he carefully removed the loose strands from her brush before handing it back to her.
"See you around KC," Hayden stated as he got up and resumed walking to class, leaving Kawaii~chan flustered on the bench as she held his jacket against her chest. Though she took a deep breath before she removed her backpack and purse, putting on the jacket and zipping it up before she grabbed her things and hurried off to class.
After almost 2 minutes of speed walking, Kawaii~chan arrived at her class and sat at her desk in the back corner. Luckily the teacher didn't call her out for being late, though she still counted Kawaii~chan as tardy.
"Hey, KC, why were you late?" Lucinda whispered, spooking Kawaii~chan as she was grabbing her notebook and pencil.
"Kawaii~chan got stuck at a bus stop because of the rain, then she ran here, and then she ran into Hayden-sama and he brushed Kawaii~chan's hair for her," she explained in a hushed tone as Lucinda allowed her to copy the notes she missed.
"Explain to me what he looks like," Lucinda requested, with Kawaii~chan writing down Hayden's appearance due to the teacher facing the students and KC not wanting to get in trouble for talking.
Once the teacher turned back to the chalkboard, Lucinda then replied, "Ohh! I know him! He's the cute goth in magic class."
"Lucinda-senpai thinks Hayden-sama is cute?" Kawaii~chan questioned, causing Lucinda to blush as she sheepishly looked down at her notes.
"Uh, well... I-I kinda have a thing for goths... And cute girls..." Lucinda sheepishly admitted, her blush deepening as Kawaii~chan giggled.
"Don't worry, Kawaii~chan is glad that Lucinda-senpai is being honest with herself!," Kawaii~chan teased, as Lucinda glared at her, but ultimately Lucinda couldn't be upset since she and KC got along well.
"Anyway, I just realized you're wearing Hayden's jacket," Lucinda commented as her and KC continued to take notes.
"Oh! Yeah, um... Hayden-sama let Kawaii~chan borrow his jacket because he already had an umbrella and Kawaii~chan doesn't," she sheepishly rubbed the back of her neck before writing something else down.
"Hm. Well, I think it suits you~ Black and pink are good colors to be put together~" Lucinda whispered teasingly, causing KC to blush and her ears flatten.
"D-don't tease Kawaii~chan like that!" She pleaded quietly, making Lucinda chuckle as she reached over and petted KC's head.
"But you make it too easy~" Lucinda whispered flirtatiously, to which KC pouted before Lucinda retracted her hand and they resumed paying attention to the lesson.
--Meanwhile with Hayden--
Hayden had just finished doing the classwork and some of his homework as he laid his head on his desk with his arms between them as he closed his eyes. Unfortunately, he wouldn't be able to take a nap like normal.
"Yo, Hayden, where's your jacket?" Travis questioned, as Hayden grumbled before switching which way he was facing as he didn't bother to sit back up.
"Let Kawaii~chan borrow it because she got caught in the rain and was late," Hayden summarized before trying to nap again.
"Ah. Well, anyway, are you free this weekend?" Travis nodded before asking.
"Why?" Hayden groaned as he opened his eyes again.
"I just figured you could do with a friend," Travis shrugged, as Hayden rolled his eyes.
"No offense dude, but I don't really go outside much because I don't like big public spaces," Hayden muttered as Travis rubbed the back of his neck.
"What about an arcade?" Travis asked, immediately piquing Hayden's interest as his tail wagged a little.
"I guess," Hayden mumbled as his tail then stopped.
"Sweet! Uh, mind if I invite Aphmau?" Travis exclaimed before inclining.
"So long as it's not a giant group, sure," Hayden shrugged before yawning, "Now let me nap."
"Sorry," Travis apologized as he continued to do his work while Hayden finally fell asleep.
--Once First period ends--
As the bell rings, Hayden groaned as he reluctantly woke up and stretched, seeing that some of the others were leaving as he grabbed his backpack and stood up. Once his backpack was slung on his shoulder, he left the classroom as well and began heading towards magic class, which was the only class he didn't sleep through. Once he arrived he walked over to his usual table, sat down, and began grabbing his notes. Though it wasn't long before another arrived, even though Hayden always arrived at the classroom the earliest.
"Hey, Hayden~" Lucinda greeted, "How's my favorite werewolf doing~?"
"Tired, depressed, hate giant groups of people, heavily dislike the government, the usual," Hayden shrugged while Lucinda sat down and began grabbing her materials.
"Heh. Also, I noticed in my last class that KC had your jacket," Lucinda added as she began preparing her materials.
"And I assume Kawaii~chan told you why?" Hayden asked, Lucinda nodding in response as she propped her head up and stared at Hayden with a flirty smile.
"She did. Though, I am curious, what do you think of KC?" Lucinda questioned, as Hayden blushed softly and shrugged.
"I mean.. As her name implies, she's Cute-chan, so.. I do think she's cute.. Like, legitimately," Hayden spoke softly as he looked towards the front of the room, his tail wagging softly before it drooped, "Though, I'm going to be honest, I think she's above my league. I-I mean, sure, we've already been here for 5 weeks but.. I don't know much about her, and vice versa, but... Y'know."
"Well, there's nothing stopping you from actually being her friend so that way you two can bond," Lucinda shrugged as she waved her free hand nonchalantly, "Plus, even though I know you like sitting alone during lunch, I could see if I can convince KC to sit with you. And don't worry, I'll be there as well."
"I can't tell if you're being serious, or you're teasing me," Hayden spoke in a monotone voice before remembering something, "Also, why are you sitting with me? You usually sit more towards the front."
"No reason," Lucinda smirked as she shrugged, before chuckling as she turned back towards the front as more students arrived, "Also, back during first period, I had to have KC describe what you looked like."
"Ugh, I sometimes forget that there's more people with my name," Hayden groaned before lazily propping his head up on the table.
"Maybe a nickname could help~" Lucinda teased, making Hayden look at her in confusion, "Oh, c'mon, I'm serious. I think a nickname would make it easier to know which Hayden someone is talking about."
"Not.. really. But sure," Hayden stated before shrugging, "But I'd prefer something that's actually unique, and not just another name or just referring to the fact I'm goth."
Lucinda then began to ponder, trying to come up with a nickname just as the teacher arrived. Once the teacher was at the front of the classroom, he casted a silencing spell on all the students as he began teaching. Everyone basically shrugged it off and began focusing on taking notes and doing the work. Though that didn't stop Lucinda from grabbing a small flash card and writing on it, before sliding it over to Hayden. Hayden then read 'What about Hayzen?', but crossed out the name before sliding the card back as Lucinda looked back at it. Of course this went back and forth, with the nicknames either being crossed out, or a dash next to it to signal 'maybe'.
•"Dude, why can't you decide on once?"
°"Cause I don't really like any of them"
•"Alright. How about Hades?"
°"That works. But only you and Kawaii~chan can call me that. Maybe others, just depends."
°"You like teasing way too much"
Hayden then sighed as he slid the card back, earning a silent chuckle from Lucinda before the teacher removed the silencing spell. The teacher then explained that they'd be going outside for the last portion of class since the rain had stopped, as everyone grabbed their things and followed the teacher out to the field. Once outside, the teacher smiled wickedly as he cast an ice spell into the air, creating a snow cloud even though it was still summer and very cloudy.
"Alright class, for the first test of the semester, you'll need to create some form of occurrence that appears in nature! Whether that be a cloud of any variety, a strong gust of wind, or anything else of a tame nature!" The teacher spoke theatrically, although some of the students weren't impressed as he cleared his throat, "And of course, you'll be working with your desk-mate to do it. You have 15 minutes."
"Soo~ Any idea what you want to make Hades?" Lucinda asked Hayden, just as he crossed his arms and looked at her with half-lidded eyes.
"Definitely a no-go on rain. And I don't want to do snow like the teacher did, so..." Hayden spoke before looking up as he pondered about what to make for the test, "Maybe something that can act as a combination of our personalities?"
"Hmm... Well.. How about a small controlled tornado? Cause when when cold winds and warm winds meet in the right way~" Lucinda suggested flirtatiously, causing Hayden to sigh and face palm himself.
"Y'know, you're lucky I focus more on keeping control of spells," Hayden stated before he and Lucinda distanced themselves from the other students and the school as a precaution, "Alright, let's do this."
Lucinda and Hayden then held their hands forward, closing their eyes as they began reciting an incantation. Soon enough red and blue-green auras enveloped the two, before their auras began floating towards the center. They then open their eyes, revealing their eyes glowing brightly as their auras combined and began spiraling together, slowly moving upward to the clouds above. And before long, an extremely thin spiral of clouds came down, remaining between the two as all the other students stated in surprise and shock.
"Teach, surely this can't be allowed!" A student exclaimed, before noticing that the teacher was astonished by the perfect control Lucinda and Hayden had over the small tornado.
"Well done you two! Excellent form and control! And within 5 minutes, not too shabby!" The teacher praised the two students before the tornado soon dissipated and they both caught their breath, "A+ for you both!"
"Thanks Mr. Gaia," Lucinda bowed, before turning back to Hayden who was braced on his knees while the teacher walked back over to the other students, "You okay Hades?"
"Yeah, just fine... Been a while since I had to keep something that tall under almost perfect control," Hayden swallowed a gasp of air before standing properly.
"Ah. Sorry I suggested a tornado. Didn't think it'd drain you that much," Lucinda apologized while Hayden simply shrugged.
"It's fine. Luckily we created a thin rope tornado, and not something bigger," Hayden stated before they both walked over and watched the others.
Though while they watched Lucinda stayed close to Hayden just in case he felt faint from using so much energy. Fortunately, everyone else completed the test to varying results, and they all returned inside. And just before they returned to the classroom, the bell rang, signaling that it was now lunchtime as the teacher entered the classroom while the students began walking towards the cafeteria.
"Hey, I'm going to go grab KC and meet up at your table," Lucinda stated as she went to look for the meif'wa while Hayden walked over to his table by the windows. Once seated, Hayden grabbed his lunch bag from the side of his backpack, opening it and unpacking the food and drink.
He then began eating his chips, deciding to save his slice of pizza for a bit later. Though it wasn't long before Lucinda returned with Kawaii~chan, both of whom had lunch trays containing a variety of food unique to their tastes. Of course Lucinda made sure she and Kawaii~chan sat on opposite sides of Hayden, knowing he'd be easily flustered. And although his tail was very subtly wagging, he kept his attention on his food before a familiar voice spoke up.
"Hey, Hayden! Mind if Aph and I sit here with you guys?" Travis greeted and asked, with Aphmau standing behind him sheepishly and waving at the three.
"Uh... I-I don't mind.." Hayden spoke quietly as he glanced between Lucinda and Kawaii~chan, with Lucinda gesturing to the chairs opposite of them, while Kawaii~chan shrugged indifferently.
Travis smiled sheepishly as he offered Aphmau her seat first before sitting after her, as they both began eating quietly.
"Oh, right! Uh, you must be Kawaii~chan since you're wearing Hayden's jacket," Travis stated, making Kawaii~chan feel a bit self-conscious as she buried her bright cheeks inside said jacket.
"Y-yeah, that's her," Kawaii~chan muttered, confusing Travis and Aphmau as they both looked towards Hayden and Lucinda.
"She speaks in the third person," Lucinda chuckled softly, Travis and Aphmau looking at each other before they both shrugged, "Anyway, Hades, aren't you going to say anything?"
"Could you not tease me Emberlight?" Hayden glanced at Lucinda from under his hair that had fallen like a curtain in front of his face.
"H-Hades? Emberlight?" Kawaii~chan questioned, catching everyone's attention.
"Lucinda helped me come up with the nickname 'Hades' so that way she would be able to recognize me in conversation because she somehow knows other Haydens, and I just came up with 'Emberlight' as her nickname," Hayden explained as he moved his hair out of the way to look at Kawaii~chan, making her blush as she buried her face in the jacket again.
"So, does that mean Aph and I should use your nickname?" Travis asked, as Lucinda nodded.
"Preferably only if you're talking about me with someone who also knows me, along with Kawaii~chan using my nickname," Hayden stated just as he finished his chips and took a sip of his drink, "Otherwise, just use my name like normal when you're around me. The same goes for you Lucinda."
"Aw, c'mon, I can't use it more often because I helped you come up with it?" Lucinda playfully pouted, making Hayden's tail wag as he blushed softly.
"Don't pull that card," Hayden grumbled, unaware that Kawaii~chan was fixated on his tail wagging.
"Um... E-even though I haven't spoken much, o-or well.. at all, can I ask something?" Aphmau peeped up, making Hayden, Lucinda, and Kawaii~chan turn their attention to her, "A-are you two dating by any chance?"
For a moment there wasn't any response, but the silence was then broken by Lucinda chuckling. Once she calmed down, she couldn't help stifle another laugh before taking one last deep breath.
"No, Hayden and I aren't dating. It's only been five weeks since school started, and we've only known each other for almost three months," Lucinda clarified as she took another bite of her food, "Kawaii~chan I've known for 6 months because we met back when she was still a part of the Meif'wa Scouts, and she almost always delivered to my house on her routes when she wasn't earning badges."
"A-and Kawaii~chan and Lucinda-senpai spent some of summer break together at summer camp," Kawaii~chan added as she glanced past Hayden at Lucinda, "Lucinda-senpai spent most of the time getting in trouble by causing hijinks with her magic."
"Hey, at least all of my pranks were harmless and didn't cause any actual problems," Lucinda scoffed with a playful as she looked away with a guilty look in her eyes, "Besides, it was a witchcraft summer camp anyway."
"So what did you do during summer camp Kawaii~chan?" Travis asked, with Kawaii~chan simply shrugging.
"N-not much... Everyone thought Kawaii~chan was weird for speaking in third person and because of her liking anime while learning some old magic," Kawaii~chan responded quietly while Aphmau chuckled softly.
"W-well, Travis and I like anime as well! So if you ever want to talk about it, you could hangout with us," Aphmau stated, making Kawaii~chan's eyes light up in excitement as she quickly nodded.
"I-I also like anime," Hayden added quietly, as Aphmau's suddenly lit up as well as the gazes from both Aphmau and Kawaii~chan made him blush furiously from nervousness, quickly looking down as his hair fell forward and covered his face while he ate his pizza.
Lucinda and Travis simply laughed at the newfound buzz the table had as the group continued talking. But after a bit, everyone surprisingly finished their food a few minutes before lunch would end, so the group decided to walk around the halls for a bit.
"Hey KC, Lucinda, would you guys want to come to the arcade with me, Hayden, and Aphmau?" Travis asked after a minute of them walking.
"Oh, um... K-Kawaii~chan isn't sure..." She shrugged as she looked down and put her hands in the jacket pockets.
"I'm down. But don't expect me to play anything since I prefer watching people play," Lucinda stated as she absentmindedly spun a small ice spell between her fingers.
"Cool. Also, it's only going to be us five if you do come KC," Travis stated as he rubbed the back of his neck.
"Ahh, okay. Kawaii~chan wouldn't mind coming along then," she smiled softly as she grabbed her phone from her purse, "Though, um, Kawaii~chan suggests we make a group chat in case something happens."
"Smart," Lucinda commented as she conjured up a small paper card and feather pen, writing her phone number down before floating the materials to Hayden, Kawaii~chan, and Aphmau. The paper card was then stuffed into Travis's chest pocket, which confused him. "You're in charge of setting up the group chat!" Lucinda smirked, making Travis even more flustered before Hayden grabbed the card.
"I'll make the ground chat," Hayden sighed, before remembering Travis didn't write his phone number as he let Travis do that quickly.
"Either way, I'm excited for Saturday!" Aphmau stated with a bright smile just as the bell rang, "Oh! Gotta get to class! See you guys around!"
She then took off as the others waved her off, before the others had split off themselves towards their respective classes.
Hayden was seated at his usual table, his desk-mates being Garroth and Laurance talking between each other while he did his work. Of course it wasn't unusual for him to hear the other two talking about girls non-stop, as this has been a thing ever since he got stuck with them when seats were arranged. However, Garroth mentioned Aphmau, and that caused Hayden to tune into the conversation.
"Still, I think out of all the freshmen girls, Aphmau's the cutest," Garroth stated, unaware of Hayden's annoyance.
"You're not wrong. Although if I had to choose between Aphmau or Lucinda... Actually, that's a tough choice," Laurance chuckled before pondering, shrugging before he added, "Of course I'm not going to pull a Dante and date both of them."
"Oof. Yeah, I wouldn't either. Though if I had to pick, I'm still going with Aphmau," Garroth shrugged before feeling Hayden flick the side of his, "Ow! What was that for?!"
"Sophomores or not, you two are being creeps," Hayden stated with a hint of disdain in his voice.
"Well you clearly don't know what it's like to be a sophomore," Laurance rolled his eyes before doing a problem on his worksheet, as Garroth nodded in agreement.
"And clearly you two don't know what it's like to respect women and not view them as objects," Hayden retorted, making the other two's eyes widen, but they didn't retort as they knew they wouldn't have a good argument.
But after about 2-ish minutes, Garroth and Laurance found their voices again, though the whole conversation was now really awkward.
"So... Hayden, if you had to choose someone to date, who would you date?" Laurance asked, earning a glare from Hayden before he sighed.
"Dunno. I only know Aphmau, Kawaii~chan, and Lucinda," Hayden shrugged before he looked at the window thoughtfully as his tail wagged softly, "I mean, Kawaii~chan's super cute, and Lucinda... She's super flirty and teasing, but she actually makes me feel seen. Aphmau I only met today, so I don't have much to say about her."
"Uh-huh... You do know your tail is wagging right?" Garroth questioned, making Hayden stop his tail as he blushed furiously.
"Shut it," Hayden growled as he laid his chin on the table and used his arms to hide his blushed cheeks.
"Well if they make you so happy, why don't you do anything?" Laurance inquired, as Hayden shifted his eyes away.
"Because I've only known Lucinda for two months, I've known of Kawaii~chan since the first day here but she only met me today, and both of them are way out of my league..." Hayden spoke quietly as his tail drooped completely, causing Garroth and Laurance to glance at each other in concern.
"Hey, don't get so down dude. Maybe there's a chance one of them will like you back," Laurance tried to reassure Hayden, only for him to grumble as he looked back to the rain pouring outside.
"Except my luck will prevent that, like it has for everything else," Hayden muttered, making the other two gain a bullet of sweat as they both sighed.
"How do I always forget that Hayden is really pessimistic," Laurance thought to himself before he decided to finish up his work while Garroth patted Hayden on the back.
"Dude, I know you don't believe yourself to be lucky, but maybe this time will be different! Plus, if you want, Laurance and I could help you get with one of them!" Garroth stated with a bright goofy smile, making Laurance facepalm himself as he grumbled quietly.
"And how are you so sure you two won't screw up?" Hayden questioned, his tone of voice making it obvious he was hinting towards both of them failing to get a date themselves.
"Because we're not doing it for ourselves this time," Garroth shrugged a retort before smiling again, "Besides, we won't straight up ask them to date you, or tell them you like them. Instead, we'll see what they're interested in and help you get them gifts!"
"Don't drag me into this Garroth," Laurance sighed as he already knew Garroth's plan was dumb.
"Oh, come on! What's wrong with helping a friend get a girlfriend?" Garroth retorted, earning a flick on his forehead and the back of his head from Laurance and Hayden respectively, "Ow!"
"Ugh, fine, but we're not doing your plan," Laurance reluctantly agreed to help while Hayden was less than pleased.
"One, y'all are more acquaintances than friends. Two, how are you both so sure you won't fuck stuff up?" Hayden listed and questioned, only for the other two to just shrug. He then facepalmed himself as he sighed, before finishing some more of his work and taking a nap.
Of course Garroth and Laurance decided to come up with a better plan quietly so they wouldn't wake up Hayden.
"Garroth, why did you tell him that we'd help? I mean, sure, he's somewhat our friend, but still," Laurance questioned as Garroth sheepishly avoided eye contact and rubbed the back of his neck.
"Because... Even though they're completely different, Hayden reminds me of Zane, and... I don't know, I feel like he needs a big brother who's there to support him," Garroth slowly admitted, feeling slightly embarrassed, "Th-that, and I figured maybe it'd give me practice of being a good older brother to Zane, since.. y'know, the incident when we were kids... And I kind of failed to actually make it up to him and be a better brother..."
Laurance sat quietly for a minute before sighing as he crossed his arms and stared at the table. He then cleared his throat as he glanced back at Garroth.
"Firstly, not completely sure that's even sound logic. Second, you have a big heart, despite your occasional stupidity... Fine, we'll help Hayden, but how the hell do we even help him?" Laurance stated before reluctantly agreeing, "I mean, we barely know Lucinda ourselves, and we don't even know what Kawaii~chan looks like."
"Uh..." Was the only thing Garroth could respond with, as Laurance facepalmed and groaned.
"Your occasional stupidity struck again," Laurance grumbled just before the bell rang and the announcements came on.
"Attention all students, please grab all of your things, school is closing early for the day due to the storm being forecasted to become worse," the principal spoke before announcements cut off.
"Ugh, greatttt," Hayden groaned as he groggily got up, packed his stuff back into his backpack, and left the classroom with his umbrella in hand.
"Okayyy, everyone just follow Hayden's lead," the teacher stated, not bothering to explain the procedure.
"And we're going to have to help tomorrow," Garroth sighed as he packed his things.
"No duh we'd have to help tomorrow," Laurance rolled his eyes as he did the same before the two followed everyone out of the classroom.
Once at the entrance, Hayden had his ears flattened to his head as everyone was being loud while waiting to be picked up. But before he could grab his earbuds and phone, he felt someone tap on his shoulder. He looked over and saw that it was Kawaii~chan, who was blushing softly as she waved at him.
"Hey, could Kawaii~chan talk to you? A-away from the crowd?" She sheepishly asked as Hayden shrugged, the two of them managing to walk through the crowd as they went to a quieter part of the hall, "Um, Kawaii~chan just wanted to apologize for not recognizing Hayden-sama. A-and for only recognizing Hayden-sama once he mentioned being embarrassed the first day."
"Oh. Um, it's alright. I'm used to people forgetting about me," Hayden stated, his eyes trailing away as he crossed his arms.
"Well, um, Kawaii~chan will make sure not to forget Hayden-sama! A-again..." She declared, making Hayden's tail wag softly as the two made eye contact, which made both of them blush as they both quickly glanced away, "Uh.. S-sorry, that was... A lot less weird in Kawaii~chan's head..."
"I-it's alright. I... I-I thought the declaration was cute a-and sincere," Hayden spoke sheepishly, his blush deepening as his tail wagged furiously.
"So, um.. Friends?" Kawaii~chan asked quietly, her own blush deepening.
"Definitely," Hayden smiled softly, causing Kawaii~chan's heart to race as she subtly squirmed and hugged herself. But before either of them could say anything else, Hayden's phone rang, seeing that it was his mom calling him as he silently cussed after grabbing it from his pocket. "I'll see you tomorrow Kawaii~chan. Keep ahold of my jacket please!" Hayden waved before quickly leaving, Kawaii~chan waving him off as he opened his umbrella and went outside.
"Why does this feel like the start of a romance anime?" Kawaii~chan thought to herself as she looked down at the jacket she was still wearing, her whole face turning red as she squealed quietly, "And Hayden-sama has Kawaii~chan's number! Wait- No! Don't make this weird Kawaii~chan!"
Kawaii~chan then took a deep breath and sighed as she stuffed her hands in the pockets of the jacket, walking back to the entrance as she waited to be picked up. Fortunately, it wasn't long before her older brother arrived, receiving a text from him as she pulled the hood up and hurried out to his car.
"Where the heck did you get that jacket sis?" Her older brother asked as soon as she buckled up in the passenger seat.
"Oh, um... Kawaii~chan-- I was late and I bumped into a classmate who helped me fix my hair, and he gave me his jacket to wear since I didn't have an umbrella," Kawaii~chan explained with a light blush as her brother began driving them back home, "H-his name is Hayden, and I agreed to hangout with him and four others at the arcade Saturday."
"Hm... Well, you're lucky mom and pops are still out of town, so I don't mind if you go. But you call me immediately if something bad happens," Her brother stated as he pulled into a drive-thru, deciding to get food for his favorite sister and ordered his food.
"I will Akihiko, don't worry," Kawaii~chan giggled before looking at the menu, "Could I get a chicken sandwich and chicken fries?"
"Course," Akihiko smiled as he added Kawaii~chan's food to the order, before hearing to pull to the front window as he did just that, "So, what's Hayden like?"
"Um... He was very reserved, and was nervous when he asked if I needed help fixing my hair. He also has black hair, even though his ears and tail are a dark dirty blonde color, and dull blue-green eyes, and he wore a black version of the male uniform..." Kawaii~chan explained, gaining a blush that continued to deepen as she talked about Hayden while Akihiko paid for the food.
"Meif'wa or werewolf?" Akihiko asked as he pulled up to the second window and was handed the food.
"W-werewolf... Why?" She answered before questioning while she checked to make sure the order was correct.
"Because you were blushing and seemed happy to talk about him," he chuckled while Kawaii~chan felt embarrassed, "I won't judge you for who you like, you know that. But just be careful with falling in love too quickly, okay?"
"O-okay.. thanks for being so kind, Aki," Kawaii~chan muttered as she tightened the hood strings slightly.
"Not a problem. Just... Don't tell our other siblings," Akihiko stated, his smile fading when he advised Kawaii~chan about keeping her feelings secret.
"Yeah, I know," Kawaii~chan nodded quietly as her tail curled around her waist subconsciously.
They then drove back home, remaining quiet for the rest of the ride.
Back with Hayden, he sighed as he stepped inside with his mom, shaking off his umbrella just outside the front door before putting it in the umbrella bin.
"So, how was school today?" His mom asked as she walked into the kitchen and grabbed herself a drink.
"Eh, decent. I let a girl borrow my jacket since she didn't have an umbrella, and I'm going to be hanging out with her and some others at the arcade Saturday," Hayden shrugged as he grabbed two slices of pizza from the box on the counter and two bread sticks.
"Oh, well that's good! Who else is going to be there?" His mom asked in excitement that Hayden was making some friends.
"Uh, Travis, a classmate of mine, his friend Aphmau, and Lucinda. And, um, Kawaii~chan, the girl I gave my jacket to," Hayden stated, his tail wagging when he mentioned Lucinda and Kawaii~chan.
"Huh, funnily enough I'm friends with Aphmau's mom. Hopefully she lets Aphmau go with you guys," Hayden's mom's eyes widened as she walked into the living room while Hayden ate one of his bread sticks as he walked.
"What do you mean?" Hayden asked as paused at the bottom of the steps and looked back at his mom.
"Ehh, well... Sylvanna... Ever since her divorce she's been a bit too protective of her daughter, especially with letting any guy be around her even if they're the same age," She explained while Hayden rolled his eyes.
"Sounds like she's partially projecting herself onto Aphmau," Hayden stated, making his mom struggle to stifle a laugh while he went up to his room, locking his door behind him as he went and sat on his bed. He then opened his laptop on the table right beside his bed, put his earbuds in, and began watching some videos while he ate his food.
But about 20-ish minutes later, Hayden finished eating his food, quickly adding the other's phone numbers to his phone and making a group chat. Once the ground chat was set up, he let everyone in the group do their own thing before he put his phone on charge and turned his laptop off, deciding to head to bed as he laid down and sighed. Before long he was asleep, snoring peacefully as the rest of the day waned away.
(Howdy! So, uh, yeah, another PDH/Mystreet fanfic. Though if it wasn't obvious by the tags, this is a partial self insert, as Hayden has some attributes of myself but isn't 100% me, if that makes sense(?). And also a slightly different writing style from my other story. Anyway, I will still be working on my Not All is Perfect story, but I just felt like writing something else and I will continue this story as well.
Also, if you did fully read this, I would appreciate some interaction just to see if people do actually like my Mystreetverse related stuff so far. Which, I get not everyone wants to comment and stuff/like my chapter posts, but it just kinda helps motivate me to actually keep writing, so just do whatever you want to do to show support! There also won't be any Wattpad copy for this simply because I just don't want to have 2 stories on Wattpad and Tumblr at the same time, so both of these will be on Tumblr, but only Not All is Perfect will be Wattpad available.
And apologies if I make it seem like I'm seeking/begging for attention, I just sometimes get demoralized from writing because it feels like my writing isn't doing well. -w-')
