alright I've got to do some quick math to explain attitudes towards AI to my boss.
we're looking to create an AI policy, and when we were talking about this, my boss (older millennial) was genuinely shocked to hear that younger people do not (seem to) view AI positively (a la the recent commencement speakers being booed)
for clarification, AI here is referring to generative AI, rather than closed or custom-made LLMs

What is your age, and do you feel AI is a net positive or net negative in our lives today?
This website is still here and some of the asks are heartbreaking. Like “Jamie wants a new pair of jeans because he’s never had new clothes before”. Or “Kayla wants a bag with her name on it for when she moves foster homes again.”
A lot of these kids ask for brand name clothing and it sounds pretentious but having one nice new fashionable piece of clothing means a lot when all your previous clothes have come out of black trash bags from charities.
Btw, you can filter wishes based on gender, age, price, etc to help you find the perfect wish for you. This charity is LGBTQ-affirming (unlike a lot of religion-based charities that are unfortunately homophobic), so you can even look for nonbinary kids to donate to.
Also, I would really encourage people to be open to granting wishes made by older foster kids (14+) or young adults who aged out of the system and still lack family support. They’re so often forgotten.
If you don’t have a lot of money but still want to help give a kid a nice Christmas, there are lots of wishes that are $24 for stocking stuffers as well, or $15 for a sqishmallow!

It’s a sleeping Jolteon plush! He’s soft, cuddly, and I can’t get over how cute he is 😭
There is some more context behind why I got him that I also want to share. Vaporeon used to be my favorite Eeveelution ever since childhood, and while I like the other evolutions designs enough, none of them really stuck out as top 10 entries on my Favorite Pokémon list. Until I watched the ‘Dogs In Love’ trilogy of videos by JelloApocalypse (as featured on JelloPlaysGames). Those are now a consistently reliable comfort series and never fail to help me relax or make me laugh. Jolteon having such a sunny and positive outlook despite his origins was an amazing move. I adore that spooky sparky dog!
This plush is already being treated like royalty. He lays next to my bed at night, and gets the bed during the day. All I need to do now is find a pendant that matches his art in the video. I do not care about someone's personal creation mythology but when we are talking about like actual legislation that decides equal rights it is like ok you cannot just say source: religious document. why is that even allowed or taken seriously
At the risk of sounding anti-intellectual, I think that college should be free and also not a requirement for employment outside of highly specialized career fields

We are the Anas family, residents of northern Gaza, specifically in the Shujaiya area. In the first week of the war, we fled our home because everyone considered our home to be in a dangerous area. We moved to the Rimal area, specifically in the middle of Gaza. There, we received the news that our home, which contained all our beautiful memories, was bombed. Suddenly, it was gone!!! Just thinking that your home, which you worked hard on and built from scratch and took a lot of your life, was gone in less than a second ! After a while, we left the sands to the Al-Zawaida area because of the heavy shelling. We stayed there for about two weeks, and then the terrorist army asked us to go to Rafah. We actually fled for the fourth time to Rafah and stayed there for two months, some of the most difficult days of our lives, as there was no way or means to live a normal life. 😔😔
