Hey, calm down..." he says. You can feel his warmth— arms around your waist. "Hey, don't cry..." His voice is soothing to listen to—despite trembling, you feel a sense of comfort wailing through your body, as you continue to shed tears.
You can't bear to look into his eyes. Today just went as wrong, as the day could go. A week ago, you didn't even think that everything could change so fast. At the moment, you only feel distressed and hopeless.
You listen to his words, with your face buried in his neck.
"Look," The boy starts, choosing every word carefully. "Even if others don't understand you, I do. ...I really care for you and don't want to see you like this, you know?"
He continues rubbing your back softly, while you just take one deep breath after another, in order to pull yourself together.
"Please, just look at me." The male gently ruffles your hair. "We will be able work out a solution together..."
All he wants is to see you smile. He just wants you to be happy.
"I promise you."
You hold on for a moment, stopping to cry. Ahead of your head slowly lifting, you first wipe away the tears, which had been running down your cheek and use some tissues, which he had given to you to blow your nose. As your eyes meet his, you can notice the vulnerability and sincerity lying in his gaze.
For you, he's willing to do everything.
"Thank you for finally looking up to me." he says with a soft smile on his face, before wrapping his arms around you one more time. You lean into his touch, finding safety and comfort. His presence alone makes your heart feel a little bit easier, like a weight has been lifted from your shoulders.
"I have to thank you," you say, as your voice begins to gain more strength, "(h/n)." As the male hears your words, he pulls you into the embrace even stronger, carefully squeezing your body.
"I will never leave your side, okay?" he whispers, not letting go of you. "You're not alone, then I'm always there for you. Because, for me, you are the most important being in this world."
content: kuroo hasn't seen you in days and makes his way to your apartment to see what's going on with you
cw: reader has a depressive episode and displays depressive symptoms
a/n: hello! i tried writing something for my pookie wookie kuroo tetsuro also lwk very self indulgent.. love u all and tysm for the endless support and as always likes, reblogs, and comments are always appreciated! i could not be here without you all <333
"hi! this is y/n l/n! sorry i couldn’t answer your phone call. i’m a bit busy right now but leave a message and i’ll call you back the first chance i get than-" kuroo hangs up the phone for nth time today and sighs.
kuroo hasn't heard from you for the past few days and to be completely honest, it’s like you've completely vanished off the planet. your designated seat next to him in both chemistry and english lectures have remained empty for the past week and he can’t seem to get ahold of you at all.
at first, he didn’t really worry much about it. he didn’t want to pry on why you weren’t coming to school. he understood everyone needed their space. but when he intercepted your friends one day and asked them how you were doing and they too were unsure as well, he knew there was something severely wrong.
on the other hand, you’ve been home all week.
you haven’t been in the best place for the past week. you feel like your body is slowly succumbing to the stress and your body is practically giving out on you, working overtime. motivating yourself to study and to work is already difficult enough as is but doing basic things such as getting out of bed and even taking a shower feels impossible.
you feel stuck in this never ending loop of time where the same things just keep happening over and over. you wake up at the prime hour of 12 pm and realize you’ve missed all your morning classes but then immediately head back to bed. you fall asleep and then wake up at 2 pm and stare at the ceiling above you with no particular thought in mind. eventually, you find yourself scrolling through social media on your phone but then ditch it after a few minutes because a wave of social anxiety crashes into you.
it doesn’t help that you’ve also been skipping meals and you’re starting to catch a cold. man, you haven’t even gotten out of bed, let alone left your bedroom. you can’t even get yourself to do the bare minimum right now and making yourself an actual meal is a bit too out of your comfort zone.
and what makes this entire situation worse is the fact that you’ve been pushing everyone away, from your friends to family to the one and only kuroo tetsuro.
there was no justification behind why you were avoiding them. you just couldn’t allow yourself to let them see you in such a lethargic condition. it hurt your pride and in general, you hated having people worry for you. it made you feel, in a sense, hopeless.
you just wanted to shut yourself off from the world.
the week goes by in a flash and friday evening rolls around. your phone lights up again for the nth time. you see it flash white but you roll over away, not having the energy to grab it. doing anything especially talking to other people feels exhausting.
a few minutes later, someone's banging on the door. it sounded like the fbi was at your door with a search warrant as if you were harboring drugs. you don't answer the door, not feeling like leaving the comfort and safe haven of your bed.
but the banging doesn’t seem to stop and you're getting irritated so you’re forced to get out of bed and tell the person at the door to come at another time.
to your surprise, when you open the door, you find your boyfriend, kuroo, staring at you with wide eyes and furrowed eyebrows.
“y/n, where have you been?” he begins the interrogation.
you mumble. “nowhere. been at home.”
he looks you up and down, taking in your disheveled state. your face is pale, the bags under your eyes seep deeply, giving away the countless sleepless nights you've had. your shoulders are slumped and the corners of your mouth turn down slightly, a subtle but constant frown. your hair is unkempt, reflecting the lack of energy to even try to care for yourself. an aura of exhaustion and hopelessness hangs around you, making it clear that you're struggling to find the strength to even function.
“then why haven’t you answered my calls?” he continues.
“i’ve just been preoccupied,” you lie and he catches on immediately.
no words are exchanged between the both of you for a few moments. you take his silence as your cue to end this awkward conversation and to send him on his way.
"i'm sure you have better things to do, just go-"
you're about to close the door on him until he says, "let me in."
you sigh again.
“can you come back later tetsu?” you don’t want to have him deal with you like this. he's seen more than enough of you in this condition.
his piercing gaze locks with your tired eyes and he feels his heart clench. the usual shimmer in your eyes gone and all he can see the numbness in your expression.
"no let me in," he states in a strict tone. "we have to talk."
with no choice, you open up the door entirely and kuroo takes a look at the state of your apartment. he would be lying if he wasn't caught by surprise. clothes are strewn across the couch and bowls of empty ramen are lying on the kitchen counter. your apartment is a mess.
putting his stuff down near the door, he begins to slowly pick up your clothes off the floor and tosses them into the laundry bin. seeing him make an attempt at cleaning your mess made you uncomfortable to the point your skin started to crawl.
"tetsuro, stop."
"no."
"please stop," you plead in desperation.
"y/n, i’m trying to help you!" he replies, his voice growing a little louder with irritation at your refusal.
“what if i don’t want your help?” you shoot back and his mouth closes shut. “i don’t want your help or your pity or condolences or whatever it is! just go home!”
although your mouth said one thing, your mind was trying to telepathically convey another.
please don’t leave me now. please stay.
you don’t say a word as you walk into your bedroom, closing the door behind you, hoping he'll leave on his own. the moment he hears the click of your bedroom door, kuroo begins to try to organize as much as he can in your living room. he takes out your old leftover foods and tidies up the kitchen. he starts working his way through the living room, silently sweeping the dust off the floor and reorganizing your items that were strewn on the floor.
as he’s silently working, he begins to hear sniffles and sobs coming from your room. dropping everything, he finds himself standing in front of your closed door, fist about to knock the door.
“love, can we talk?” he says out loud.
it's silence from the other end.
"y/n... please..." kuroo's voice cracks. "i just want to see you."
"door's open," your voice is muffled slightly through the door.
he opens the door and is greeted by you wrapped around in your comforter, looking away from the door. kuroo takes in the state of your room. the curtains are drawn out and there are tissues littering your night stand along with your computer lying in the corner with a pile of clothes in the corner waiting to be cleaned.
you were always so organized, what started this?
kuroo goes over to the other side of the bed and your face is huddled into your comforter. he crouches down and starts to stroke your hair with his hand.
"baby? talk to me, love. what's going on in that pretty head of yours huh?" he coos in hopes of getting you to open up.
refusing to look him in the eye, you mumble into your comforter loud enough for him to understand. "it's been getting bad again... it’s been bad all week and i'm just tired all the time."
he kisses the top of your head. "and that's okay. not everyday is supposed to be a great day. you're supposed to have good days and bad days."
you finally emerge from your cocoon and the sight he's greeted with break his heart into pieces. your face has a slight red flush tint with the remnants of your tear stains on your face. he sees how you're trying to maintain a steady face, trying your best not to fall apart in front of him.
no questions asked, he brings you into his chest and the tears you worked so hard to keep at bay come apart. you start sobbing into his chest. he strokes your back in a rhythmic up and down motion, adding the occasional kiss on the top of your head. he finds himself crawling into your bed with you on his lap as you continue to sob into his chest.
once your crying subsides a bit and your throat feels a bit sore from the crying, you look up at him and he gives that genuine small smile of his that you've grown to love so much.
"i love you, you know that right?" he reassures as your eyes meet.
your eyes shift from one eye to another and you look at him as if he hung the stars just for you.
"i know and i don't know why you love me. i don't deserve you. you deserve someone who's put together and on top of it and just perfect. hell, you could do so much better than me... i don't even know why you're still with me."
his heart cracks at the heartbreaking words, escaping your mouth. he feels so stupid. have you been feeling like this for all this time and haven't said a word to him? he should've done something.
"when we started dating, from that very moment, i knew i wanted all of you. i want everything. i want your bad days and your good days and your lazy days and your rotting in bed days. i want your good and bad. i want your highs and lows. y/n, i just want you." he kisses your cheek.
he continues to reassure you, "i want all of it. and i want to be there for you the entire time. i don't want you to have to hide yourself from me. i never wanted you to be perfect. i wanted you to be just you. that's who i fell in love with."
"i love you with all your 'imperfections' you know that right?" he does the air quotes around the word "imperfections."
"yeah but it's so hard for me to accept-," you start but he brings his pointer finger to your lips, telling you to stop your train of overthinking.
you both are enveloped in a comfortable silence with kuroo's reassuring words hanging in the air.
"i love you so much, you have no idea," you finally say, cuddled into his chest.
"oh yeah? i couldn't tell," he begins to tease. "tell me more actually."
you let out a chuckle, playfully slapping his arm, and that warm, sweet smile of his forms again on hisi lips.
"there's my gorgeous girl. oh how i've missed you."
Syn: Yamaguchi has a small crush on you, but he has the small idea that you wanted Tsukishima instead, and so gets surprised when you speak to him instead.
REQUESTS: OPEN
Similar to my Aone one shot, I wrote this because my HEART BROKE when I found out his biggest fear is girls only speaking to him to get to know Tsuki instead </3
“Hey look, that girl’s back again.” Tsukishima sighed, taking a sip out of his almost done water bottle.
Yamaguchi looked in the direction his friend gestured to, noticing the same girl that had been watching them practice sitting beside Yachi this whole week.
“Oh.. right. She keeps looking at you. I think she might like you.” He laughed trying to lighten his own mood.
To be honest, he wished she were coming for him, but with her always looking in Tsuki’s direction, it was very clear that she wasn’t.
It was always Tsuki.
He was only partially jealous. The rest of him felt overjoyed for his friend, gaining attention from girls was a big ego boost.
And gaining attention from you was like winning the lottery. In his eyes, you were the prettiest girl in the school. The prettiest girl he had ever laid his eyes on.
Feeling his heart start to ache, Yamaguchi quickly shook himself back into reality, deciding to focus on the practice match instead of you.
—
You happily sat by your friend, leaning your head against her shoulder as you slowly ate your sandwich.
You loved watching the volleyball team. They were all so excited to be here and in the zone. It was their passion for the sport that intrigued you the most.
However, the main reason you would spend your lunch times watching sweaty boys play volleyball was the awkward freckled boy that would steal glances your way from time to time, turning red a cherry when you made eye contact.
He was so awkwardly cute, and he got flustered so easily, it made you want to get to know him more.
“Hey.. Yachi..” you spoke up, catching the blondes attention, humming in acknowledgment.
“What.. what is that boy’s name?” You gestured with your head, trying to stop yourself from turning as red as a flipping tomato.
Giggling, she happily answered your question, “that’s Tsukishima. Do you like him?” She asked, her voice lowered so only you could hear her, thankfully.
You slowly nodded your head, feeling giddy just talking about him.
Once the match had ended, you urged Yachi to help you speak to him. Although he seemed like a sweet boy, you didn’t want him to feel ambushed by you just walking up to him and striking a conversation.
It sounds weird, but that’s just what you thought would happen.
Taking you by the hand, Yachi marched towards the boy. You could practically feel your heart beating against your ribcage.
He was standing next to his friend. Or a boy you assumed to be his friend. He was always with him, so you expected them to be close.
“Tsukishima! Could you come here for a second?” Yachi called over, stopping a bit away from the two.
You would’ve been happy for her help, but when the tall blonde with glasses made his way over to the two of you, you felt like you had somehow gotten misunderstood.
Boy, this was going to be awkward.
“Oh.. Yachi-“
“Okay! You can start talking to him now!” She whisper yelled to you, trying to contain her excitement.
You let out a nervous laugh, staring up at the tall boy.
He didn’t look too amused, to say the least.
“Look, if this is what I think it is, let me just say this now,” he started, and you could tell you were about to experience your first ever rejection from someone you weren’t even interested in.
“I’m not interested.”
“Well, that’s good, because I’m not either.” You huffed, definitely not taking a liking to his sour tone. Just who did he think he was?
Rolling your eyes, you looked past him, smiling softly at the boy standing lonely.
“I actually wanted to talk to your friend over there.. I think he’s kinda cute.” You giggled, noticing him fiddling with his fingers once you made eye contact.
Tsukishima’s mouth hung open, and instead of replying to you, he stomped his way over to your friend, probably to tell her off for putting him in an embarrassing situation.
You, in turn, made your way to the freckled boy, holding out your hand for a handshake when you were close enough.
“Hi! My name’s (Y/n)!” You introduced yourself with a cheery attitude.
He slowly shook your hand, his tongue getting caught in his throat as he stared at you in disbelief.
“Now would be where you’d tell me your name.” You laughed, bouncing on the balls of your feet.
“Oh! Uh.. I’m Yamaguchi.. but wh..-“
“I don’t like your friend, if that’s what you’re thinking.” You said, blowing a raspberry in Tsukishima’s direction.
“So you wanted to talk with.. me?” He asked, his face growing in colour as his attitude quickly turned from a sorrowful one to a delightfully surprised.
You quickly nodded your head, your heart skipping a beat as you noticed him getting happier.
You hoped the more you got to know each other, the happier you could make him.

"He's so cute!"
"Oh my gosh, yes, and the glasses!"
You look up from the book you'd been reading at that. At first you thought the whispers had been about Bokuto, because it's not every day that a 6'2 Pro Athlete rides the bus this casually. Although, at a closer look, he's not that attractive with the way he's fallen asleep in the row in front of you, his head leaned back, mouth open as he snores softly.
It doesn't take long to spot the girls. They're probably high schoolers, their uniform skirts hiked a little higher. Their eyes are on you, no, on Keiji, who's sitting on your side, leaving the window seat to you. He's always worried like that, worried that someone will snatch you out of your seat when you're not looking.
"Keiji," you whisper. He turns, uses his thumb as a bookmark. You hate that he does it, hate the look of it, that pretty thumb adorned with a ring you bought him on your first anniversary. The girls are swooning about it two rows down.
"Yes, Love?"
"They're talking about you." You say, your eyes flickering over and back toward him. You can't really fault them for noticing how attractive he is. His hair has grown out a little, falling perfectly to frame his face. His Glasses fit him so well you usually just want to jump into his arms the moment he slips them on and coupled with the tired look after a day of work, he's swoon-worthy, nothing less.
"So?" He asks, smiling softly.
"So? They're talking about how pretty they are."
"So?" He asks again, lips quirking up a little. "Didn't know that was a bad thing."
You gasp. "Are you trying to cheat-" Bokuto snortles in front of you, loud enough to interrupt you. But he doesn't wake up. "Are you trying to-"
Keiji leans in, quick enough to surprise you, and presses his lips to yours. He's grinning as he pulls back. "Sorry," he teases. "Can't help that I'm pretty."
"Keiji," you whine, stomach filled with butterflies. Would it be terribly rude if you kissed him again?
"What?" He's smiling, eyes crinkling. "Do you want me to shave my head? You told me not to cut my hair just this week."
"Yeah, but-"
"Oh, I'm going to grow a beard." He nods to himself, flicking through the pages of his novel as if he could care less. "Do you think a Goatee would make me look uglier?"
"Keiji," you whine again, leaning into him. He buries his nose in your hair. The whispering has stopped.
summary: Tsukishima visits you to help with studying after you fail an exam
warnings: none, I just hope it's not too OOC
word count: 800
a/n: it's my first time trying to write for Tsukki! I hope you like it^^
Your eyes wander over the boy infront of you. Sitting at the other end of the table, your childhood friend, Tsukishima Kei. The way he flips through the pages of his textbook, eyes filled with concentration and his familiar nonchalance.
"Don't give me that look. Did you really expect things to be different this time?" You pout at his words. "...Why not? I mean, I learned so much for it! But of course she had to change the whole exercise... It didn't even feel like I ever did this before!" "You dumbass, if she put it in there you will most likely have done that before!" Tsukishima scolds you. A slight smirk appears on his face. "Or, did you don't pay attention to your lessons?" "Argh, Tsukki! Don't be so mean!" you exclaim loudly.
"Well, let's get back to the topic." he says, a seemingly cold tone in his voice. His finger drives over the textbook in front of you. Then his gaze shifts directly to you, maintaining his cool attitude. "It's really not that complicated. Just trust me. You will definitely understand the exercises afterwards. And I will help you." At that moment, you can make out a stir of emotions inside you. His words were undeniably reassuring, and you can feel your heart getting a little bit warmer, as a soft smile paints on your face.
And so you start going through the exercises in the textbook. While taking notes, your eyes tend to draw over to the blonde male more than once. Through the way, Tsukishima explains the tasks with ease, you have to admit it. He's not only good-looking, but also very intelligent. Time passes by until you suddenly get pulled out of your thoughts. "The snacks are out. I will go buy some more, around the corner, okay?" Tsukishima suggests. "Let me-" you start, before being cut off by the boy. "No. You will continue to work on the exercises. No complaining, Shorty." His usual smirk creeps up on his face. "You better finish before I'm back."
As he left, you let out a deep sigh. You stare at the equations, but your head refuses to concentrate any longer. Your eyelids slowly start to close, a deep wave of tiredness hitting over your body. You fight with staying awake to learn further. If Tsukishima comes back, he would surely make fun of you, right? He would definitely scold you with the playful smirk of his, right? The thought of him teasing you let a small smile pass over your lips. That would be so typical for him. And with the exhaustion overcoming your mind, you fall asleep.
After a short while, Tsukishima arrives after getting some snacks. As the blonde opens the door to your room, making his way to you, he stops in his tracks. He sees you asleep, with your head resting on the surface of the desk. Your hand still slightly holding onto the pen, and your lips letting out an inaudible snore. A bit endeared and amused, the boy chuckles at the sight of yours, deciding to tease you a bit.
The blonde male picks up his pen and leans over to you. With it's end, he gently taps your forehead. "Wow," Tsukishima says, a playful tone in his voice. "I didn't realize that equations could serve as a sleep aid." You slowly lift your head, blinking in confusion. As he sees your dull eyes, still a little bit tired, the smirk on his face grows wider. "Hey, Sleepyhead. Was my presence that remarkable, that you decided to take a nap, instead of doing what you'd been told to? Did you miss me that much?" "I... I was just resting my eyes for a bit." you reply, cheeks slightly flushing red, while trying to sit up properly. "Thanks to you, I'm fully awake now."
"I see... So that's your weak spot." the boy snickers. "How would you even manage studying properly without my help?" You don't answer him on that. Tsukishima sighs. "Here," he reaches you a chocolate bar he had crammed out of the plastic bag beside him. "I thought you might need a little power up." "Thank you." you reply, accepting his offer and taking a bite.
"A-and well..." you start hesitantly, your eyes flickering around. "I didn't say, I wouldn't have missed you." you admit flustered. "If you are here, then moments like this just feel better." Tsukishima's eyes widen, ahead of his gaze turning back from you. By the soft red shade of his ears, you can clearly see that he is embarrassed. "A-anyway, concentrate on your tasks, okay?" he bickers. You smile brightly. "Sure!" Tsukishima may be aloof sometimes, but in truth, he cares a lot.
