Grunzo's hunting party had gone missing three years ago and now he was back. He offered little by way of explanation but he had apparently forsaken the dwarven gods of old in favour of someone he called the Baroness. His clan were not pleased with the situation (it sounded like elvish nonsense to them) but they had to admit that the whole walking on water trick he did was pretty impressive. The heavy scents of wild garlic and fennel drifted out of the pot of stew that Ħathis stirred. Herbs were useful for healing magics but Tarssia preferred her meat raw. She gnawed at the squirrel carcass Tycho had reluctantly saved for her. Tycho shivered and pulled the log he was sitting on closer to the fire while peering at the two of them. "If you both hate the king so much, why do you work for him?" Tarssia grinned. "The way I see it little man", she said through a mouthful of gore, "you keep your friends close, and you take all the gold you can off your enemies while figuring out how to gut them in their sleep." Tarssia is the third member of my Rangers of Shadow Deep party. Tycho had sent half a dozen arrows into the corpse but it continued its lurching advance. "Through the eye boy!" Ħathis was fighting two of the dead himself. He blocked an attack with the woodsman's axe in his left hand and then carved a grasping arm off with Aventine's sword. "Just like at Lady Morvane's tournament!" Tycho had won a fatted goose shooting targets last spring. He failed to see how his current circumstance bore any similarity to that but he nocked another arrow all the same and lined up his shot. This is another character from the #rangersofshadowdeep campaign I'm playing with @woolmandrums. Another character my party encountered in the D&D campaign I'm running. Dorgolel, a necromancer (with a terrible German accent (how do you do it so well @voiceofobrien?!)), who one of the PCs described as "actually pretty chill". One of the things I love most about being a DM is the fact that no matter what you plan for, players will come up with totally different ways of interacting with the world you've created. My prismatic rainbow dice arrived from @dieharddice just in time for the tail end of #pride month! (I ordered them late. They were very speedy with their delivery from the U.S.) 20% of the proceeds from their rainbow range this month went to the @trevorproject, a charity for the support of LGBTQ+ youth (and you still have time to buy some and contribute!). I've been running some (mostly) new players through a little D&D campaign. Most of the stuff I make for it I can't post on social media since they all follow me but this map of the surrounding area is all stuff their characters would know. I started off by taking them through the Sunless Citadel, which is why I had to start off in Oakhurst, but next we'll be moving on to homebrew stuff, which should be fun!
