Chronically ill people are superhuman. They go out and work alongside you, continue with the lives and responsibilities, and remain active with their social lives. They may need a day or two here and there to rest and avoid pushing themselves, but for the most part we learn to cope and continue with life. If you felt the war we do every day you'd likely be in the ER. Give us some credit for doing what we do, even if we take a day to ourselves now and again.
To all my fellow chronic illness friends:
“No means No” does not only apply to sex.
If you tell someone you are unable to do something (because you are unable to, you feel it may cause you harm/damage) and they push you, that is NOT okay.
When you say no, that should be the end of the conversation. When someone pushes you, they are saying that they don’t respect you, and that what they want, is more important then your wellbeing.
Please don’t think that it’s okay for people to push you to do something you don’t want to do/are unable to do.
Your wellbeing is very important, and don’t let anyone think that what they want, is more important than your health.
This is important
This is incredibly accurate
You're awesome ❤
My mom's friend came over for dinner and said to me, "well you look great! What do you do all day?"
Try to survive the crippling pain mostly, how ‘bout yourself Betty?
Me: *gets up* Me: *has to rest for 10 minutes*
If you’ve had people leave or make you feel unloved because of how your illness affects you, know that there are people out there that will love you whether you’re sick or well. Between the pain and hurt, there are good people. You’ll find them or they’ll find you, but don’t give up hope.
