Joel didn't like working with new people. Well, in all fairness, this Michelle Morris wasn't exactly new. He'd seen her around Alexandria on a few occasions, in this strange sort of passing knowing; she seemed harmless enough, begging the question of how she'd survived this far into the apocalypse.
Then again, Joel liked to believe the walkers were a little kinder in this neck of the woods. Where he'd come from, they were faster, much more angry, far as he was concerned, these people had it easy. The whole deal seemed easier than he'd come used to. Perhaps that was a blessing but some of it felt uneasy, like something could go wrong at any moment.
Nonetheless, being around people now, having some semblance of a home and normalcy, it was strangely refreshing. But it all felt surreal and uncertain-- so of course Joel was one of the first to always pony up for patrols. Walkers would always be a problem and keeping himself busy by dealing with them kept Joel, oddly enough, sane.
But being assigned with someone new to the patrols? He wasn't a big fan of that. Or a big fan of going on patrol with anyone for that matter. Not that he had a choice.
As he came up to the porch of Michelle's place (wasn't she also with that one doctor?), he brought his hand up to the door-- but stopped. Hesitated. His lips tightly pursed, he shifted from one side to another, hand falling to his side once more.
What would he even say? Ah. Screw it. Didn't matter. He raised his hand and gave several strong raps against the wood.
