Sebastian walks into Dalton, full of confidence for the new year and 100% sure that heâll be the most popular guy there. Stepping in, heâs suddenly engulfed by the crowds of boys, all of them rushing towards one direction.
He walks into the commotion and stumbles here and there, finally tripping over somebodyâs foot. Steadying himself, Sebastian whips his head back, already prepared to smother the poor soul in insults. Then, as his mouth opened to speak, his jaw fell instead.
In front of him, a boy stared back at him with the most soulful, innocent eyes Seb had ever seen.
Placing a hand on Sebastianâs shoulder, the boyâs face morphed into a frown as concern creased his eyebrows. âOh, my God. Iâm so sorry. Are you okay?â
His tongue felt far too twisted as he forced out, âIâm fine.â
This guy was too pretty to be upset, damn it, Seb! He had to make this guy like him.
Standing upright, he looked down at the stranger and took in a deep breath before curling his lips into a smile, holding out his hand.
âHi, there. Iâm Sebastian. Smythe.â
The other accepted the handshake with a sigh of relief and an equally pleased smile. âBlaine Anderson. Are you a freshman?â
His eyebrows shot up as surprise and a hint of amusement buried itself in his expression. âIs it obvious?â
This Blaine guy smirked and tilted his head to the side, an unsaid âis that a serious question?â being made clear with the way he raised his eyebrows.
âWell, youâre currently lost, your collar is unbuttonedâŠâ
How had that happened, he spent an hour making sure he looked good?
â⊠Plus you had that âdeer in headlightsâ look in your eyes when you looked at me, so.. typical freshman signs.â Sebastian was not one for being read so easily, yet this boy had so much calmness in his demeanour. This kid was interesting..
Crossing his arms, Seb scoffed and grinned at Blaine. âFine, you got me. What are you, a sophomore?â
âIâm a junior, actually.â
âMm, I do love a guy older than me..â Sebastian smirked again, narrowing his eyes.
Blaineâs mouth parted and Seb watched his eyes darken. âWatch your mouth, new kid. Weâre in a public area.â
âWould you prefer to be in a private area?â
âWell, this is actually a private school.â
On second thought, this guy was a dick.
He flinched as another boy shoved him aside, unknowingly having made a very powerful enemy. His father would be hearing about this incessant bullying.
Giving the stranger a good, solid glare as his back turned, he looked back to Blaine and sighed. âOkay, Blaine Anderson. How about you tell me this: Why is everyone going in that direction?â
There it was again, that smug little smile. What was so amusing?
âYou are so a freshman. Theyâre going to watch the Warblers perform, silly.â
Sebâs frown must have deepened because Blaine just chuckled. âDaltonâs Glee Club. They perform acapella song covers. Have you never heard of them?â
Oh. The Warblers, right. How could he forget? This boy was too distracting for him.
His silence must have said too much because Blaine smiled again, this time reaching to grab his hand without asking. Sebastian went rigid under Blaineâs touch and raised a questioning eyebrow at the boy.
âCome on. Youâre coming with me, I know a ton of shortcuts.â
Fighting the urge to pull away and whack him, Sebastian held on to the warmth as Blaine whisked him away. Seb would deny that he was blushing the whole time âtil the day that heâd die.
