Ukraine: The Latest - The Telegraph: Covering the latest news in Russia's war against Ukraine.

All these podcasts are great and help people form a multi-angle decision on current world issues, so I highly recommend listening.

every time politicians say “working families” instead of "workers", an angel loses its health insurance

every few months i read another headline about doctors without borders having to evacuate a hospital after it was bombed, shelled, raided, looted, or turned into a battlefield, and it makes me feel genuinely insane

Because this is supposed to be one of the clearest lines in human civilisation. Hospitals are supposed to be untouchable. Doctors are supposed to be untouchable. Patients are supposed to be untouchable.

and yet msf keeps having to release statements like “we can no longer guarantee the safety of our staff” after another clinic is destroyed and another region loses one of its only sources of medical care

Like, imagine dedicating your life to treating cholera outbreaks, war injuries, malnutrition, children caught in crossfire — and the reward is that governments and militias alike decide your hospital is an acceptable target

we are living in a world where humanitarian organizations have to beg armed groups to stop bombing emergency rooms

“Why are queer people still talking about rights? Didn’t we already win those?”

Meanwhile, in 2026:

Over 500 anti-LGBTQ+ bills are being tracked in U.S. legislatures alone, many specifically targeting trans people’s healthcare, IDs, and basic ability to exist in public.

Courts are actively upholding bans on discussing queer identities in schools and removing books that even mention us

Governments are rolling back protections for trans students, arguing their identities aren’t covered under civil rights law.

Entire countries are increasing prison sentences for being gay or proposing laws that force people to report queer people in their communities.

International sports bodies are deciding that some women just… don’t count as women anymore

And yet people still say this is about “culture wars” or “going too far".

What’s actually happening is much simpler: There is a coordinated push to make queer life less visible, less protected, and more dangerous, legally, socially, and physically.

Not everywhere. Not all at once. But enough that you can feel the pattern.

And at the same time, because it’s never just one story, there are breakthroughs: openly queer politicians being elected, courts recognising relationships, and communities refusing to disappear.

That’s the reality of queer rights right now: progress and backlash happening at the same time, with people’s lives caught in the middle.

it’s honestly exhausting how queer rights keep getting treated like some kind of optional “debate topic” instead of, you know, people’s actual lives

Like every election cycle, suddenly it’s "We support you BUT” or "Now isn’t the right time” or "We have to consider both sides." Both sides of what?? Human rights???

and then when queer people are angry or scared or tired, it gets framed as being “too emotional” instead of a completely normal response to having your existence constantly negotiated by people who will never have to live it

you don’t get to brand yourself as progressive while treating queer safety, healthcare, and dignity like bargaining chips

Anyway, if your politics require queer people to be patient while you decide whether they deserve rights, your politics are the problem

The White House just launched a “Media Offenders” list.

On the official WhiteHouse.gov website.

Not a campaign page.

Not an RNC graphic.

The government’s actual website.

They’re listing reporters by name.

They’re accusing news outlets of “offenses.”

They’re stamping “EXPOSED” over every independent newsroom.

They built a leaderboard for “repeat offenders.”

Like journalism is some sort of crime and sport.

This is not “messaging.”

This is not “spin.”

This is state-run media targeting,

and we have never seen anything like it in the United States.

Ever.

They’re calling Mark Kelly’s PSA “follow the law” sedition.

They’re calling journalists who report it criminals.

They’re building narrative infrastructure for repressing dissent

All while a former TV host is being accused of unlawful killings.

You don’t put reporters on a government enemies list unless you’re planning to do something with the list.

This is authoritarian architecture.

And they just published it out in the open.

What, you want them to take your tax dollars and then do nothing with it? Lock it all up in a big government vault and just look at it? Why are you so scared of giving a third grader lunch or a homeless person a house.
