Steve sucks in a sharp breath, like he’s in pain, but he doesn’t seem to be like, clutching his sides or anything. “Typical,” he mutters, more to himself than to Mike.

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

"Like you’re in love?”

“I mean—” Mike blanches, and tries to backtrack. “We are in love. We are. She loves me. And I—”

i think its genuinely so ridiculous how different the bullies in the book are from the movie. patrick went from fucking serial animal murderer sociopath who killed his baby brother to like... idk a hot guy with a lighter. like thats objectively hilarious. does anyone else find this ridiculous.

reading it for the first time (!!) and i think i knew and then forgot that adult bill is bald. im almost done and the whole tjme ive been picturing bill as what may or may not be a real image we passed around in 2017 of miniseries bill badly edited to be bald. makes bev being so into him so much funnier bc in my head he is the ugliest boy in all the world

@dear-wormwoods got me thinking about how, as a kid, eddie projected bill as his “hero” that became the voice inside his head…

but as an adult, eddie’s voice of reason switched to richie…

and i think it’s also important to note how in the initial fight against It as kids, eddie breaks out of his paralysis because he sees bill in danger

but as an adult, during the final battle, eddie forms a specific telepathic connection with richie, and his last sacrificial act is to protect him and bill.

i just think this parallel shows the immense complexity and growth eddie had as a character. as a child, eddie idolized bill because bill was his first friend who was kind to him and didn’t bully him. he saw bill as someone who was very brave, and because eddie didn’t think he was brave himself, he used bill as the voice inside his head to get the courage he needed to overcome his fears. however, as he grew up, he was able to distinguish that the way he loved bill was like a “big brother…or a father” and his hero-worshipping of him diminished. then instead, richie became the voice inside his head, not because he hero-worshipped richie, but because richie was the one eddie wanted to impress and prove himself to as an adult. 

the thing with eddie is that he gets inside his head a lot of the time. he is highly introspective and observant but that in turn makes him self-deprecating because he constantly compares himself to others and what they think of him. he projects celebrities and his friends to be his voice of reason because he doesn’t quite trust himself or his bravery. but in reality, it’s all moot, because the minute his friends are in danger, he is the first to spring to action. eddie’s strength has always come from his need to protect his others. he never really needed other voices inside his head to tell him to be brave, because he was already brave. eddie was the hero he was always aspiring to be :’)

do you remember that episode with the gay guy who wore only polos who wanted to come out to his stepmom and was shockingly ripped under said polos? eddie kaspbrak

trying to get eddie to do anything is like trying to bathe a feral cat. they’re like “can we talk about your wardrobe?” and he’s like. it’s fine. what is wrong with it. has anyone seen how my husband dresses. anyone at all.

a) this is a ‘normal people’ au where richie isn’t famous, and bev nominates richie for queer eye, and richie finds out and nominates eddie in retaliation. they end up on a couple’s episode. richie is having the time of his life. eddie is seconds from biting someone. 

or

b) eddie being like “my husband -” and richie hearing and wandering into the room like “did i hear my name? my darling??” and eddie’s like, dude, i thought you wanted to stay off camera? and all the queer eye guys are like. i’m. i’m sorry. is that richie tozier

mary help i did an it AND a st rewatch while high this week and im thinking about STIKERS in the year of our lord 2023

like? they would be so soft? i just picture them quietly existing together in the clubhouse or castle byers (cries remembering castle byers). like mike is reading a book, maybe, and stan is writing, and will is drawing and theyre all just Existing In The Same space. they dont need to talk, because just being Present is enough and it’s just so soft, god my HEART.

(and then dustin and richie come in screaming and break the silence, probably, but mike and will are just like. so happy to see their friends and stan acts annoyed but he’s happy too, wow i just want all of them to be friends actually)

STIKERS IN 2023. stikers forever actually. me and u in stikers nation until the sun goes out.

they have all. had so many expectations put on them and theyve been through so much trauma and to just get to sit and Exist and not be alone and just. be surrounded by people they love who love them back. in peace. it's quiet. there's no danger. mike will read them a silly or profound line from his book and stan will forget a word and ask them for help and will will (will will lol) show them his sketch and say does the anatomy look right and they r so supportive and so in love.

and when their insane friends come aknocking and the peace is broken its okay because there is so much more peace to be had and they love their friends and love being insane with them. and idk what u mean by you Want them to be friends be cause as far as IM concerned. they literally are friends. the losers and the party are hanging out and having a good time As We Speak. stikers are being in love and wheelbrough is being in love and the others are being friends and maybe in love and there are no more monsters and they are happy and making fun of each other and joking around and. yeah. i am never not thinking about them i thiknk.
