My question to @lgbtfans and @gtass about the pledge is this: are you really prepared to squander your reputations in lgbt movements and in the fandom by offering the industry a mechanism that has no consequences if breached and can be used as a retrospective platform for an apology?
I mean, you picked yourselves to be mediators of this, so I expect you’re prepared to be put in a position where you’ll find yourselves defending some writer or showrunner against criticisms by fans. The fiasco with White is already indicative of that much.

Because what the industry really needs is more lackeys to excuse it’s abhorrent behavior so they never actually have to take responsibility for all of the harm they have done to minority populations.
Point blank, the recently renamed “Lexa” pledge is just more queerbaiting. It means absolutely nothing. It’s entire purpose is to get the angry LGBTQ+ fans to shut up and go back to watching television with false promises that the queer characters will live to the finale, sound familiar? No one is held accountable and until someone is held accountable, the industry will continue to mistreat and misrepresent minority populations. We don’t want words, we want action and accountability. Until the fans demand accountability, by actually using aggressive terms like #BoycotttheCW, #BoycottCWAdvertisers. #FireJasonRothenberg, #FireShawnaBenson, #FireMarkPedowitz you will continue to lose ground in this movement. For every advertiser that has dropped out already, more will take their place until YOU make it undesirable to spend advertising dollars on a network that has been complicit in the victimization of an already victimized group. Anybody who wants to give the industry an out is on the wrong side. Anybody who is arguing for being nice to an industry that uses and abuses minority populations is on the wrong side. And as has been stated repeatedly, leave the actors alone. They didn’t write it. They didn’t finance it. They didn’t even sign up for it, it happened after they already had contracts. Even if you are trying to show them support, do not re-tweet or reply to any Tweets using official tags. Nielsen counts those as ratings. Even if you don’t do anything else, don’t tune in for the finale to watch them kill Lexa all over again. If you must watch torrent it.
