For the past 5 months I accidently managed to trick myself into thinking I was 23 when in actuality I was 22, only realising it when my brother pointed it out (which was so shocking that I had to take out a calculator to check because my brain had gotten too used to the idea that I'm 23)

What I'm saying is that, while I know some people think Sayo knew her real age I can't help but wonder about a scenario where she didn't, and how jarring it would be to discover her real age, it would completely shift how she viewed herself

LMAO you know i've always been in the camp that she knew her age was being obfuscated even if she didn't know why but i suppose stranger things have happened. i think i just figured shannon being 16 just lined up with her original role as sayo's worksona - "as a servant, my name is this and my age is this"

on the scale of a year or two as an adult it's not a huge deal (i regularly have to think for a few seconds to remember my exact age because it kind of stops coming up outside of government contexts after a certain point), but it would be extremely unmooring to learn that as a teenager....especially finding out she's older than she thought, i can imagine it would feel like 3 years of her life vanished in an instant. on top of all the sense of betrayal at being lied to for most of her conscious life not just about where she came from but also a fundamental fact of her identity as simple as When she was born. particularly since that isn't just a lie by omission, that's a direct lie genji, kumasawa, and nanjo told her to her face. it's extremely fucked up and yeah i'm sure it would be difficult to recontextualize herself and her whole life after learning that
