17 year old Brittanee Drexel disappeared from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina while on spring break without her parents consent on April 25 2009. Brittanee’s mother learned where she really was when her boyfriend, John, called her after he abruptly lost phone contact with Brittanee. Over the next few days several calls were made to her phone by her loved ones, although every call failed to yield a response. Her phone last pinged in a swampy area before the reception was lost. Searches were conducted in that area, however only a pair of sunglasses were found. It is unknown if they belong to her. Brittanee was last seen on a surveillance camera leaving the Blue Water Resort to go back to the Bar Harbor Hotel where she was staying about a mile away to return her friend’s shorts. She never made it as far as the street camera that caught her going to the Blue Water Hotel. This indicates that Brittanee made it less than half-way back to her hotel while texting her boyfriend when she was abducted.

In August 2016, a man by the name of Taquan Brown revealed to authorities that Brittanee had been kidnapped, gang-raped for several days, and then shot and killed when she tried to escape. He claimed that her body was then fed to alligators when the media attention increased.

Their claws are long and sharp for clinging to rocks on shore or underwater in heavy currents.

They have dark gray coloring to better absorb sunlight after their forays into the frigid Galápagos waters. And they even have special glands that clean their blood of extra salt, which they ingest while feeding. (Source)
