Frankly I think we as a society, especially Americans, need to recognize and acknowledge that not everyone has access to a library with free cards and a comprehensive physical and digital collection. Not everyone has access to a library at all. Many people live in areas without public libraries and many people live in areas where their libraries cost a fee (sometimes a very hefty fee). If your discussion about access to books (including apps and pirating) does not include those people, then you can't be surprised when they get pissed off and annoyed at you treating your experiences with libraries as universal.

"Just go to a library!" Well, what do you do when you don't have a library to go to? All these apps you suggest as alternatives aren't actually alternatives to a library, they are extensions of a library you have to be registered with. So what's your next suggestion?

"Just buy the books!" Books aren't released everywhere in the world or in every language and, as many people outside the US have pointed out, book prices often aren't changed to fit local currency. A book that is $20 in the US could cost someone else's entire paycheck in another country. This has been pointed out again and again but a lot of Americans simply do not want to hear it.

I don't know what the solution to this problem is, but I DO know that it doesn't involve shaming or harassing anyone over not having access to books through a library and it definitely doesn't involve accusing them of lying or not trying hard enough.

Also homeless people exist and don't have access to most library services either. Living in an area with a great public library doesn't mean shit if you don't have an address to register for a card with.

Genuinely love that there are some characters that are just allowed to look completely different per iteration and most people don’t bat an eye. I love that catwoman could literally be any race and I simply would not be confused. If people were more normal, this could be done for every character ever

I have not really kept up with the mcu outside of a few movies after endgame so I’m not really understanding the Peggy hate (??) people complain that she gets too much screen time but as far as Ik she’s only been in multiverse of madness (did not see it) and some episodes of the what if cartoon (which makes sense cuz every ep is a different au)

The arcane fandom is not serious because there’s discourse happening over on twitter now where people are saying that vi can’t be seen as butch because she was an enforcer for like 10 minutes on screen but those same people say that sevika is better butch rep… the character that was the second in command of a man filling the undercity with drugs, exploiting children for mining, and running a a criminal organization. The woman who was sent to kill a group of literal children of which vi was included in. The woman who while claiming to be pro zaun was killing members of ekko’s firelights. Either both of them are butch or neither of them are because you cannot use ‘because politics’ for your reasoning that vi should never count as a butch but Sevika can.

Seriously the Eternals was such a good movie because all the characters are so complicated and multifaceted. It's not just about if things are good or bad it's really complicated and the ending was honestly pretty unpredictable.

A lot of mcu movies follow more predictions good guys win in the end. But it all feels so cosmic and we're forced to move out of our black and white views of humanity dying bad big gods evil because they aren't human. They see things so differently. There is so so many good little things about the movie I am so excited to watch it again

I thought it was so interesting and had they included those characters more often, I may have been more invested in the mcu post endgame. There was so much you could have done with those characters and I was ready for it. A sequel could have taken me from ‘I had fun, this was good’ to obsession territory

This movie had ANGELINA JOLIE, SALMA HAYEK, and GEMMA CHAN and you all said NOPE I’m good, I thought it was boring??? Characters who have been alive since ancient times with all of their own individual adventures throughout human history. They’re messy and have interesting relationships with each other. Cool powers, each struggles with morality and guilt and they all have different philosophies on how and why they interact with human kind. It was a diverse team and they looked cool and they were charming. And you guys hated it… I’m disappointed in you lol. Especially because the main critique was ‘they let all of that happen! They weren’t good people and they didn’t intervene!’ It’s almost like that was the point!!!
