MORE THAN | Yasutora Sado x reader
warnings: none but fluff, SFW this time around. period/ovulation cramps (reader written with a uterus in mind), swearing here and there but thatâs about it.
inspired by THIS panel, and my ovulation cramps..
cradling the pouch of your tummy, you curled your legs up to your chest in a fetal position, attempting to find a spot you felt comfortable writing in as the pain got worse.
you groaned, cursed, yet to no avail the pain worsened, and why of all times did this have to happen to you, so far after your period had ended.
sure, you could play logical games with the lingering pain in your lower region and argue in your mind all day, but you knew that wouldnât make it go away. And yet, the will to get up and help yourself wasnât strong enough to make you do so, laying there flopping side to side in pain, in an attempt to find a position where the pain wasnât as sharp and harsh.
âShit.. what do I do.. I canât get up..â you groaned, still cradling your tummy as you flipped, brows furrowed in pain as you had limited options. Get up and go walk to the pharmacy for some pain killers, or call someone you knew who could get you some.
And honestly, you liked the sound of the second option a lot more.
And as you dragged your phone closer to reach it, you scrolled through your contacts, wondering who you could call. Ichigo, at this time? Surely not. The guy is probably out fighting hollows right now. Orihime? No, she always had a strict bedtime she kept to herself to stay energized for school.
So you were down to one last option. Yasutora sado.
You knew him for years now, being introduced to him in your freshman year by Keigo and Orihime, as you often opted to hanging out on your own, but mingling with the likes of them meant youâd eventually meet Chad and Ichigo too, soon hanging out with them every lunch period, as those lunch hang outs turned into Friday hangouts afterschool.
You couldnât thank Orihime enough, for introducing you to him really. He was kind, handsome, strong, and most of all, reliable. Sure, he was the quietest out of all of you in the group, but oddly enough, you managed to get close to him and come out of your own shell, as the others would react with surprise as you rambled and babbled to Chad endlessly with a smile, your string of words never ending as he sat there and listened.
But even with all this said, you wondered if you should really be calling him at this time of day, as the moon hung high outside in the sky, so dark the street lights already lit the sidewalks.
You didnât wanna burden him, especially at this time of night, but your options were slim. And you didnât feel like writhing in pain all night until the morning.
So with a sigh, you scrolled through your contacts to find Chads, dialing his phone as it rang for one, two seconds, until his voice suddenly rang through your ears.
âHey, Yasutora Sado..â
His voice was timbre and deep, shifting in your position as your attention zoned in on responding to him, although you felt sheepish in the moment, asking for something in the middle of the night like this.
âUhâ Chad! Hi.. uhm, itâs [y/n].. are you uh, busy right now?â You asked, internally face palming as you felt like a dumbass. Never have you ever been so shy and nervous like this with him, especially at school, so what was the difference?
Before you could even ponder on that thought for long, he responded back, the sound of cars drifting by and honking in the background somewhat audible from his end of the call.
âNo.. not at all, really. Just out to pick up some food.â He said, his deep voice monotone as it always was, though you wondered if you were bothering at all, insecurities flooding your mind the longer you stayed silent in a moment of thought.
âAh shit, you really had to go and call him while he was busy, didnât you?â You thought, beating yourself up as your pains got worse, groaning slightly, as the sound didnât go unnoticed by Chad.
âHeyâ that sound.. was that you? Everything alright?â He asked, his usual monotone voice suddenly shifting with concern as it changed in the slightest, as you swear you could imagine the worried expression underneath his hair as he said that.
âOh! Ahahâ uhm.. yeah, no, not really, actually.. itâs nothingâ Iâve just been having these pains, like, cramps, you know? It gets worse in the night sometimes soâ itâs kicking my ass.. hah..â you responded back, sitting up with your phone in one hand and the other on your clothed belly, as you honestly felt a bit weak from the pain.
You felt a bit bad he had to see you this way.. wellâ hear you this way. Around him, you usually kept a genuine, and interested upbeat tone, always smiling around him as you clung to his side whether it be in the hallways or on the way to school, as the teasing comments from Keigo and Ichigo admittedly made you a little embarrassed.
But you remember Chad shrugging their teasing words away, continuing to walk with you as he didnât seem to mind their comments like you did, allowing you to keep an arm around him as the two of you walked. Though, you always hoped he didnât see the flush in your cheeks when they did so, looking down in a poor attempt to hide it.
However the noise of the cars in the background honking obnoxiously brought you back to reality, fumbling with the end of your band T-shirt as the other held your phone in place by your ear.
âMm.. cramps..â Chad mumbled, as you stayed quiet for a bit, wondering what was going on to make him so silent. But unbeknownst to you, Chad, on the other end of the line moved his hand away from his ear holding the phone to glance around, while the breeze whipped his hair away from his gaze.
Chads lips parted subconsciously as he looked around, the florescent lights of the numerous convenience stores and miscellaneous shops lit the sidewalks of the streets he walked on, turning his head again to find a store he could go to as his eyes stopped on a small pharmacy not too far away, making his way there with a bag of canned goods in a bag and cup noodles in the other.
âI think I found something. Iâll be there in ten minutes.â Chad said swiftly, making sure you heard before hanging up as he stuffed the phone in his pocket, finally reaching the small pharmacy as the bells atop the doors jingled when he walked inside.
He felt a little awkward, mindlessly walking around through aisles to find his way as he picked up miscellaneous bottles, checking the labels in an attempt to find something youâve been looking for.
But after an awkward few minutes of aimlessly passing through aisles, he decided to go up to the clerk instead, who was a quaint old lady shifting through her magazine.
Chad walked up to the counter, clearing his throat to get her attention as she stopped reading, looking up at him in awe. âOh! Hello.. I was just so caught up in this magazine I didnât see you.â She claimed with an aged rasp in her voice, her movements slow as her eyes were squinted, even behind glasses.
âAnyway.. what did you need, boy?â She asked, sweetly so, as she looked up at him with nothing but kindness, frail hands placing the paper down to pay him attention.
âPeriod pills, I believe.. for, cramps and pain.â Chad said, sheepishly so with his hand rubbing at the back of his neck, feeling hot under the jacket he decided to wear.
The old woman only chuckled, waving her hand as she turned to exit the counter, guiding Chad to the painkiller pills as he followed.
On your end, you felt a little nervous. In ten minutes? Should you get ready? Should you dress a little nicer? You looked down and felt like you were severely underdressed, but you were home of course, why why else wouldnât you be?
But now with the fact that Chad was apparently coming over to see you, things felt different, and the sudden urge to get ready for his arrival felt a little questionable on your end.
He wouldnât mind, would he? I mean, you did tell him you were home curled up in your bed and all, so he wouldnât care, right? After all, you two were just friends.. so itâs not like you needed to impress him.
However, for some reason the reminder of you two being just friends hurt you in the slightest. I mean, you werenât together, per se.. but the closeness was there, and it was obvious to yourself and a few others, even if it mightâve been by those like Ichigo or Orihime, who knew the two of you well.
The bond you two shared wasnât anything to shrug off, as your feelings grew more imminent by the day, forcing yourself to confront them on the days you had time to think deeper thoughts.
But just as you were about to get up and change, or, convince yourself to while being in deep thought, the knock on your door snapped you out of your thoughts.
âOh shit, that must be himââ
You fixed your comfy pants and checked your hair, flying down the stairs to get to the entryway as you stopped at the doormat, seeing the shadow of his figure behind the door, as you reached forward to open it.
There he was, standing stiffly with a plastic bag in hand as he would have been, after buying himself food and what you asked him too, looking upwards to meet his eyes as they werenât covered by his hair this time.
Realizing you mustâve been staring for a second too long, you stepped to the side sheepishly, letting him in.
âChad! Come inside come inside, itâs freezing out there.â
You ushered him in as he walked inside carefully, making himself aware of his surroundings as he didnât want to trip over anything, like the pairs of shoes you had haphazardly kicked off to the side.
âThanks, I.. brought what you asked. I was a little confused at first, so.. I hope this is alright.â He spoke, his tone calm, and gentle, as it always was. Yet for some reason, it always seemed more tranquil and at peace around you, as he never had to raise his voice with you.
Handing the plastic bag to you, you thanked him with a sheepish nod as you were glad the darkness in the entryway hid your flushed cheeks, shuffling against the floor as you werenât sure what to say. But the sudden pain from your lower body made you groan, clutching your stomach as you booted it upstairs.
âShit! im sorryâ itâsââ
Before you could even finish what you were saying, the pain in your stomach stopped you midway on the stairs as you groaned in pain, worrying Chad as he suddenly dropped the other bag he had in hand onto the floor, making his way to you.
With careful steps upstairs, he hovered over your curled up form, leaning on the stairs above as you sat on the lowest, trying to soothe the sharp pain that stabbed you as you cradled your tummy.
â[y/n]â are.. are you alright? You donât look good..â Chad mumbled, missing the glint of concern in his eyes as he watched you curl in pain on the stairs, brows furrowing with a sadness he felt seeing you this way.
Chad really wasnât sure if an issue like this of yours was really his business to be prying into, but seeing you in pain, he knew he couldnât just let you writhe on the stairs all night, attentively waiting for your response.
âFuckâ itâs.. itâs fine, Chadâ just.. just cramps, really.. Iââ and with another sharp pain, you groaned with a whine as he could see it was anything but âfineâ, concerning him as his mind raced with what to do, looking at you while contemplating.
â[y/n], you donât look fine..â Chad stopped for a moment, considering his actions until he decided watching you in pain was enough for him, as he spoke once up again.
âHereâ just stay there..â
Suddenly, with swift, yet gentle movements, he picked you up, carrying you in his arms as he made sure you were placed in them properly, his face so close to your own you swear you could feel his breath.
It was hard to see his face in the dark hidden underneath that hair, but with how close you were, it felt as if the heat radiating from your cheeks could touch him if he was any closer, hugging you tightly as he kept his an arm tucked beneath your leg.
You could feel his heartbeat, every breath he took from his nose, and the warmth from his chest, while your eyes drank in the view of him carefully carrying you up the stairs, upset his hair was the only curtain between you keeping your eyes from gazing at him more.
Chads own strength was used not just to carry you, but to resist looking down and meeting your eyes, glancing down at you to examine you as he feared he was one misstep away from taking you down with him, while his gaze was locked forward in fear of losing his balance to look at you.
As he went, he poorly attempted to control the quick beating of his heart, pounding so hard and so fast inside the cage of his ribs he worried you could feel it too, as he was glad the darkness of the staircase kept his flushed cheeks hidden.
Finally, after what felt like a trek to make it upstairs, he made his way into your room, stepping forward carefully until he could safely ease you onto your bed.
You landed with a soft squeak of the springs, a hand of yours still cradling your tummy as the pain was still there. But at least you were now on your bed, thanks to Chad.
Looking up at him, you could only drop your head slightly as you mumbled.
âUhâ thank you Chad.. for taking me upstairs.. I probably wouldâve died and passed away on those stairs in pain if you didnât get me.â
Chad could only smile at your exaggeration, at least making him feel a bit better about the mood you were in as you smiled back. But his head perked up suddenly as he remembered something.
âThe kitchenâ where is it..?â
âDownstairs, to the left.â
He gave you a small nod as he left downstairs to head to the kitchen, leaving you a little confused as you wondered why he went down there. But soon enough, after a minute of sitting on your bed idly while time passed by, the sounds of his footsteps heading back upstairs rang by your ear.
With heavy steps, he entered your room again with a glass of water in hand, walking towards your idle position on the bed with one hand while he held the bottle of painkillers in the other, making quick work of the cap to leave it twisted open for you.
âOh! Thank you Chad.. you didnât have to go downstairs and do that for me you know..â you mumbled, your cheeks feeling warm as you held the glass in hand.
âItâs nothing. You didnât have anything to drink from..â he mumbled in response, voice deeply rumbling through his chest as he spoke, looking down at you with a soft gaze, making your heart beat faster in your chest as he made you feel this way.
You nodded and drank down the cold water from your cup, downing the pill along with it with a thick gulp, feeling the cool liquid run down your throat to your stomach, hoping it eased the pain even just a little.
Chad felt a little more at ease watching you drink down the pill, hoping it made you feel better by the end of the night.
Tired of watching him stand there by the doorway so stiffly, you pat the side of the bed as he seemed hesitant at first, almost like he was afraid to be so close to you. But he obliged nonetheless, and sat next to you, feeling your bed dip from his weight as it tipped you over to his side just a little.
Sitting in silence with Chad usually felt comfortable, but this time around, things felt different. Like there was words meant to be said, but went unspoken as the fan was louder than the silence between the two of you, shifting in your seat to face him.
âChad, you know.. I know you were already outside but, again, thank you for coming to pick these up fâme. I didnât wanna bother Ichigo or wake up Orihimeââ you started to ramble, but a hand on your bare shoulder, exposed by the shirt loosely hanging on your side stopped you.
â[y/n], itâs alright.. I promise. If anything I.. im glad you called me.â Chad admitted, his own flush a bit more visible in the dim lighting of your room, faintly lit by a candlelight on your dresser.
You could see his lips part like he had something to say, his own insecurities and racing thoughts running through his mind as he wondered if he should say what he wanted to say, these thoughts eating away at his brain.
âI.. I want you to rely on me. Not just because weâre friends, but.. because I want to be here for you, because I want to do more for you..â
His words that came out like a confession stunned you into silence, your heart beating in your chest as you could only look up at him, as much as you could with his hair over his eyes, lips parted just slightly in awe.
âIâve felt this for a while, but.. these feelings of mine, they go deeper than just friendship, and I realize that now..â he said, speaking almost as if to speak to himself as well, nothing but seriousness in his voice as he spoke from the heart, his head turned to face you.
Chads heart beat with both fear and excitement, finally being able to have the time to tell you how he truly felt, even if he wasnât the type to say more than he needed, articulating his words so they came out clear.
Still staring back at him, you felt his hand drift from your shoulder, tickling the skin of your arm to your hand, as he held it gently, covering it with his own.
âIf you donât feel the same, I.. I understandââ
Before Chad could even finish, you leaped onto him with your arms wrapped around his head, pulling him close as his eyes widened with shock, not expecting you to jump on him so unexpectedly.
âAre you serious?! Yasutoraâ I like you too! A-A lot, actually.. I justâ I never said anything cause I didnât know if you felt the same.. and I didnât wanna ruin what we had..â you mumbled, loosening your arms around him as you sat back down, still close to him as he was a scooch away.
Chads eyes staring at you with surprise soon relaxed into a calm expression, his lips curling into a genuine, handsome smile. Yet the quick beating of his heart never dissipated as he finally got an answer, glad you felt the same way.
âSoâ what im tryna say is, I like you too, Sado.. I always have..â
Your sincere words flushed his cheeks as he looked down at your figure, much smaller than his, as he couldnât help but tighten the hold of his hands on yours, feeling secure and happy.
The silence between the two of you was no longer awkward, but now comfortable and excited, the glint in each others eyes showing that you both heard what youâve been waiting to hear for the longest time.
Chad, who sat on the edge of your bed facing you, hovered just a bit with how big he was, forcing you to look up at him as he towered over you, but the silence gave you two time to lean in, slowly, hearts beating with anticipation as it pounded in your chest.
His eyes peeked to meet yours through the slight opening between his layers of hair, full lips parting to speak.
The door to your room suddenly slammed open before he could finish, startling you both as the two of you skittered away, both of your cheeks wildly hot like a flame as you saw your mother at the entryway.
â[y/n]! I got the pills youâ Oh, Yasutora! Whatâre you doing here?â She asked, quirking an eyebrow at the two of you, both with suspicion and curiosity as she had a hand on her hip.
Wordlessly, too startled to speak, he lifted the bag from the floor that previously held the bottle of painkillers he brought for you, looking at her as he swallowed nervously.
âOh! You brought [y/n] something? Well isnât that sweet of you~ Well.. I guess Iâll just keep this one for myself then.â Your mother shrugged, turning around to walk back downstairs with a pep in her step, as she didnât seem all that phased by Chads presence in your room.
You looked back at Yasutora, the both of you staring for a moment until you bursted out in laughter, clutching your stomach as you rolled back on your bed, giggling away.
âHoly Shit! You wereâ you were so scaredâ I canât! I thought you were gonna shit yourself!â You laughed, crying out so hard you wiped the corner of your eyes with a finger, as Chad only watched with a smirk, pushing you playfully.
âThat wasnât funny. I thought she was gonna tell me off, you know..â he said smiling, not taking your laughter too serious himself as he found it funny startled he was.
âAh! I canât! Iâm sorryâ im done im doneâ let me.. calm down..â you breathed out, panting as you slowly sat up, trying to get yourself together. But just as you sat up, you rubbed your tummy, looking up at him in surprise.
âChad! The pills, they worked! I thought I was gonna be rolling in pain all night.â You gleamed up at him, as he smiled back, glad they seemed to work for the time being.
âMm.. thatâs good.â
With your laughter finally calming down enough for you to breathe, you spoke with realization.
âOhâ Chad.. you that thing you were gonna say earlier, before my mom interrupted you, what was it you were gonna ask?â You asked him curiously, sitting on your bed with crossed legs with the pain of your cramps no longer bothering you.
You saw him flush for a moment, turning to face the wall as he turned back to face you, a little shyly.
âI.. was gonna ask if I could kiss you.. but..â he mumbled, glad his hair somewhat covered the blush he felt warmth his brown cheeks.
You pouted for a moment, feeling bad your little moment with him got interrupted so swiftly, as you landed a hand on his knee.
âAwe, Chad.. itâs fine..â you said, patting his knee softly, pausing to look up at him. âBut you know.. you can still give me that kiss, right..?â You continued, smirking with a playful look.
You watched his spirits rise as you gave him the go ahead, even if he still felt hesitant.
With a racing heart, he swallowed thickly, leaning down towards your expectant face as your eyes were closed shut, throwing away whatever fear he had as he finally leaned in to kiss you, pressing his lips against yours softly with a hand on your back, holding you light enough that you were able to back out if you wanted to.
But you didnât, staying put as you felt his lips meet your own in a hesitant manner, as you slowly pulled away to give yourself time to breathe.
Looking back up at him with a flustered face, you could finally see his eyes past his hair as they beamed into yours, making you smile wildly as you felt shy.
âChad.. donât look at me like that..â you mumbled, smiling, hiding your face behind your hands as you buried yourself in your palms.
He gently pulled them away from your face to look at you, smiling to have his eyes meet your own.
âYouâre cute like that.. donât hide your face.â
You swear you couldâve died if he went any longer talking like this, simply choosing to fall forward until your face planted on his chest, making him smile as he used a hand to pull you close, his thumb stroking you softly.
And with that, he bent his neck to kiss the top of your head, eventually standing up to leave before speaking deeply in a soft tone.
âIâll see you tomorrow, [y/n]. Get some rest..â
Chad turned and left, leaving you a flustered, overwhelmed mess on the bed, reminiscing on the fact that your best friend, was now more than.
