The Old Skool Collector The grandma edition with quotes like “back when I bought my first doll // in the beginning there were hardly any tans // I have been a DOA member for over 6 centuries”. Has (had) single jointed dolls with severe yellowing in their collection. Can tell you all about the hobby’s evolvement.

The Revolving Door: Buys dolls, sells them, and repeat. Promises to keep one forever, doesn’t. Tends to have a small collection at home, but their list of “once owned” is longer than Merlin’s beard. Great resource for doll comparisons.

The Shopaholic: Has a large collection of dolls, or a large collection of accessories, and sometimes both. Buys more than they sell. Dolls aren’t necessarily finished and they might even own accessories for doll sizes they don’t have. Knows all the best places to shop for your dolls.

I want to post photos of my dolls on Facebook, but I always decide against it in the end. The reasons are because A) I've heard stories about people fapping to dolls and I don't want anybody to fap to my poor dolls B) some people might think I'm a creep for having dolls and that I'm fapping to them.

How do you people send your doll heads to strangers?

Even if they are well known face-up artists, at any moment, they can decide it’s not worth it anymore and quit doing it, and instead just run away with all the heads they currently have, which is as simple as not going online with the same username.

When that happens, the only thing you can get back is the commision fee via PayPal, but you can’t get back the shipping you paid and the price of the doll’s head. What you did is basically send a stranger a free doll head.

Obviously not everybody is going to be like this, but if even family members can steal a few dollars from you, don’t you think a stranger who never needs to meet you in real life would try it? Everything can go well today, but tomorrow they might think they’re done with the hobby, all those heads would make them enough money to start another hobby.

I can’t wait to have them at my house again. They’re staying with my parents until I get more room to store them safely. They’re both 10+ years old and more fragile than a new doll so I need to figure something out with that.

I have been into BJDs since 2006. 14 dolls and counting, several more formerly owned, and a massive collection of high quality clothes piled in a room later… Now I look back and I can say I hate how the hobby has evolved. Everyone wants dolls for so cheap, and now the majority of dolls look cheap. Unabashed doll snob, here, and wow I’m so glad I have nice looking dolls. I’ll stick to being a lonely doll hobbyist.

Does anyone know this Japanese owner’s site?

So I lost all the images and links I had collected of owner BJDs over the years. There was this one Japanese owner site that did extreme facial mods on their Isao and old F-28. They had a visual kei look. Anyone have any ideas?
