Some simple markmaking/doodling to calm and clear my mind. Nothing fancy, just taking the pencil for a walk on the page
'Send in the Clowns'
'She was knee deep in it now, there was no going back'
There was kind of a tarot / divination card feel about her when I'd finished.
What was she trying to say? New beginnings, darling, keep going, get stuck in, dig deep, feel the depth, drink deeply from it, let it fill and sustain you.
The odd thing she seems to be carrying was a flower whenI stuck it down, an orchid of some kind but it just looks a bit weird, more embryonic. In my dreams an embryo, children or pregnancy always symbolise a creative project.
What is she telling me?
Keep going and carry that precious beginning/ idea forward with you.
I hear you.
Brand new collages for sale!!
It's been a long old year and seperation from family and friends has taken it's toll.
Imagined as postcards from an emotional place, a place of longing for our loved ones, of nostalgia for picnics together on long hot summer days, grass tickling the back of your neck and ice creams on the way home.
5x7 inches on seriously solid Strathmore paper.
£10 with free postage in the U.K
Now listed in my Etsy shop
Melancholy Baby - Art journal by Whitney-Anne Baker
The foundation for a new set of collages; pulling together painted papers and images.
'A crack in the sky and a hand reaching down to me'
Sometimes leaving it is the best way to resolve the stalemate. Come back to it fresh and go "Ah, that's what it needs." Like this page. I'm satisfied now. Hope you like it too.
