Sheena (2000-2002):Β Wild Thing S01E08
In The Quest 1x12, Morgan does his best to care for his wounded brother, Quentin, and protectively stares down the man who hurt him.
Made a gifset from this episode years ago but I have access to much clearer footage now so I thought I'd remake and expand on em a little!
Don't forget that Morgan was then forced to leave him for dead and spent most of the episode thinking Quentin didn't make it
Laramie S03E16, Shadows in the Dust: With Slim's condition worsening, Jean must decide if she's going to save him.
"I'm sorry if I had to hurt you. But they'll be back and they'll find you." "Jean. Don'tβdon't start it again. Don't do that to yourself."

"You don't look too good this morning." "I've felt worse. Can't remember when, though."

Well, it looked like Dek got somewhat trashed in that last fight with Tessa. So of course his Labubu offers some help with that.
media trope that makes me want to throw up and cry is when a character realises there's no way they're making it out of a situation in one piece. and in a single moment they accept it and turn to their distraught loved ones with The Smile. you know The Smile. sickening
PETITION FOR ALL LOVABLE CHARACTERS TO STOP DOING THIS SHIT. IT BREAKS ME.
A not usually demonstrative character is being openly affectionate/tactile toward a badly ill/injured character who, while they're very much enjoying the comfort and the contact (when they're conscious/lucid enough to) is also fully aware of their companion's usual reticence and so says, matter-of-fact and acceptingly but unable to fully conceal their resigned disappointment, "It's alright, you don't have to, I know you don't want to-"; putting on a brave face about how much it actually means to them and how much they'd miss it- and the stoic companion sees this and powers through their own hang-ups to be even more openly affectionate (in their own way) because by gum they're going to show the unwell character how much they care and give them the comfort they're so clearly craving and enjoying.
When the unflappable character sees someone they care about in danger and the mask slips, it's great.
But when the unflappable character sees someone they care about in danger, and the mask DOESN'T slip.
Because they understand they need to be calm and unflappable now more than ever; if it protects them, it will certainly protect the person they care about. So their voice doesn't waver, their hands don't shake. They don't panic. From the outside looking in, they're as calm as could be. They handle it.
But after it's over-when the person they care about is safe, and the unflappable character is alone-they completely shatter. Gasping breaths, sobs, barely holding it together because someone they love almost DIED, and it was far, far too close for comfort.
(Optional: Character that they care about finds them in this state and comforts them.)
things people do after having a nightmare that isnβt crying
struggle to catch their breath
grab onto whateverβs close enough to ground themselves in reality
become nauseous / vomit
shake uncontrollably
sweat buckets
get a headache
things people do to combat having nightmares if they occur commonly
sleep near other people so they can hear the idle sounds of them completing tasks
move to a different sleeping spot than where they had the nightmare
leave tvs / radios / phones on with noise
just not sleep (if you want to go the insomnia route)
sleep during the day in bright rooms
things people with insomnia do
first, obviously, their ability to remember things and their coordination will go out the window
its likely theyβll become irritable or overly emotional
their body will start to ache, shake, and weaken
hallucinate if itβs been long enough
it becomes incredibly easy for them to get sick (and they probably will)
