Daleks Photobombing on the BAFTA Television Awards Red Carpet
Say what you like about the Daleks, but one thingâs for certain - theyâre not camera shy. When we invited a couple along to patrol the BAFTA Television Awards red carpet, we thought theyâd be content to look intimidating and do their âEXTERMINATE!â thing.
How wrong we were.Â
Clearly vying for a bit of extra attention, the Daleks photobombed their way into countless red carpet snaps. Below are just a handful of their Television Awards anticsâŚ
Casually rolling into frame to grab a quick word with the For the Love of Dogs presenter Paul OâGrady, the Daleks are currently in conversation with OâGrady about a spin-off show called For the Love of Daleks.*
*(theyâre not really, nobody loves Daleks.)
With an almost hushed reverence, the Dalek keeps a respectful distance away from Leading Actor winner Ben Whishaw.Â
Not quite so respectful to Homeland actor David Harewood. Weâre amazed Harewood managed to stay so cool under pressure - itâs not everyday you find a Dalek breathing down your neck.Â
The Great British Bake Off star Mary Berry unwittingly poses with a Dalek. As Andy Wright remarked on Facebook, âEXTERMIN-BAKE!!!!!!â. Indeed.
Unaware that itâs trundling past Made in Chelsea stars Mark-Francis Vandelli and Binky Felstead, Dalek Number One seems in a hurry to join his partner in crimeâŚ
âŚDalek Number Two, who is armed and ready to shoot at their co-stars Lucy Watson and Spencer Matthews. Clearly itâs just not happy with their blossoming relationship, and wants it to end before it goes any further.Â

Okay, so I showed this picture to Camille Coduri, who plays Jackie Tyler. Based on her exclamation of âIs that Harry Potter?!â Iâd say sheâs not met Daniel Radcliffe before. She took my phone off me and after inspecting the photo closely, concluded that it wasnât her because sheâs never owned that cardi or that dress, but she thinks itâs a brilliant lookalike, especially because the guy next to her looks like Noel (who played Mickey).
In conclusion, no, itâs not Jackie Tyler. But she thinks itâs brilliant anyway.

#1 The Highlanders by fabledquillÂ
This piece really gets what this project was all about - making beautiful illustrations. In a way, illustrating the actual story was secondary to the artwork. I love how this holds back from illustrating things fully, I love how it cuts off Jamieâs face. This feels like a book cover to the story, and book covers often donât show the whole figure. I particularly like the way youâve adapted a missing story. Well done!

#2 The Tenth Planet by atarial
This is a more literal piece of fan art than my first choice which is why I gave it second place. However, it is still, obviously, phenemonal and you should be commended for managing to fit in the important elements of the story into a really neat composition. #3 The Romans by romaaana
This entry always stood out for me and it uses an idea I hope to see in future entries. This was one of the very few to really explore and have fun with the time period in which the story was set. The composition is beautiful and the mosaic style is inspired. Iâd love to see more like this!

The Sensorites by lydiabutz
This is a great piece of work and was only just pushed out by the pieces above. The reason I like this is that it uses one iconic shot as a basis. Too many of the entries werenât selective enough, they tried to illustrate every part of the story, every character. Taking one particular shot or element that stays with you is a LOT better, I believe. And this just works so well.

The illustration of Susan in this image is fantastic! The lighting really captures the mood of the story (by actually making it more dramatic). I like the illustration of Susan so much that I really think the inclusion of her grandfather spoils it. Imagine the image which just Susan, surrounded by darkness⌠itâd give it a lot more important I think. Itâs a great entry and I canât wait to see what you do for a possible second one, but I reminder to everyone that less is almost always more.Â
Truthfully though, Iâve been very impressed with what Iâve seen so far and canât wait for Month 2!Â
