“Please — stop — it hurts —“
“It’s supposed to.”
sticking blorbos in my chaos jar to watch them suffer
Characters who hate who they once were. Characters who are disgusted by who they once were. Characters who absolutely despise who they once were.
Characters who miss who they once were. Characters who long for who they once were. Characters who would give anything to be who they once were again.
"Please please please please please..."
Whumper tilted their head, amused. "Does that word even mean anything to you anymore?"
I love a whumpee who is touch starved and misses affectionate, gentle touch to the point where they'd do anything for it.
When (care?)whumper wants to manipulate them, they fall for it oh so easily. A kiss on the cheek, a warm hug, a hand playing with their hair - they want it so much it hurts. They crave it so much they'll ignore any bad signs just to get scraps of affection.
Whumper might touch them kindly rarely, but when he does, whumpee forgives everything.
Maybe whumpee "agrees" to sex they don't want without a second thought, because they hope they'll be held in a warm embrace after. With whumper, with caretaker - it doesn't matter, not really. Not if someone can touch them with love.
When caretaker finds them, whumpee clings to them. Don't let them go away even for a second. They know they're gonna be punished for, that they don't deserve such kindness, but their heart begs for it nonetheless
Maybe caretaker wants to go away, and whumpee mutters little pleas and promises. They'd do anything and everything, really, just please, please allow them to be held just for a little while longer
Whumpees who associate being sedated/drugged with being violated. They need something done like a procedure or minor surgery, and insist on no sedation. Whumpee simply cannot tolerate not knowing what happens to them while they’re out. Sure, being awake for it will be horrible, but trusting someone else with their body is not an option.
“Most people find this extremely uncomfortable, are you sure you don’t want anything?”
“I’m sure.”
“We can give you something just to take the edge off—“
“No.”
“Alright. If you change your mind, just let us know.”
“Thanks, I won’t.”
if you're writing and find yourself thinking 'this is too weird/gross/offputting/esoteric/ambitious/catered to my specific interests + sure to push away a broader audience' that is the devil speaking and it is a lie. you are already firmly on the right path and you need to double down
non consensual.. body modification…. ❤︎
“why are you getting frustrated with your characters? you write them, they can do whatever you want”
NO THEY CAN’T. this little fuckers have some psychological power over me i CANNOT MAKE THEM DO SHIT
Whumper gloating to Caretaker, “They screamed your name once. Did you know that? Really thought someone was coming to save them.” Whumper smirks. “I helped get rid of that fantasy real fast.”
“i want to see what your insides look like” is romantic. To me
as much as I love badass characters pushing through pain to fight, I also love when they hit a point where they just can't. something structural is wrong or broken, so they can't stand. their muscles are simply too weak and overworked to hold them up. their bloody hands slip off the handles of their weapons, they can't aim through their vertigo or tunneling vision, they shake from blood loss or exhaustion even if not from fear. they've just reached their limit, and no amount of willpower will change that!
but babe you love being chained to the radiator
whumpee being choked out during the rape, being viscerally reminded that their life is in the hands of someone who couldn’t care less about their well-being. maybe they even black out and wake up to it still happening. and of course afterwards, seeing the bloodshot eyes and bruised neck in the mirror knowing they have to find some way to hide it.
oh that’s so, so brutal, i love that. the sheer helpless terror of knowing that all they can do is hope whumper will let go before they pass out, before they die. and the thought of blacking out and coming to still being raped, oh my god. it seems endless. it’s never going to stop. and the intensity of direct eye contact while they’re being assaulted, choked, hurt so, so badly. it’s up close and intimate and devastating.
and the pain afterwards. not just having to hide the bruising and hope no one has questions about their bloodshot eyes, but the way their throat feels swollen and abused. the way speech is like choking on glass. the way any option for hiding the bruising could be so triggering, too - the pressure of a turtleneck, the hyperawareness of how easy it would be to seize the ends of a scarf and strangle them again. they’re chugging hot tea and trying to keep their head down, praying no one sees. no one asks questions.
i love when a character is very clearly going through their own shit badly and is able to be sympathised with yet they are also being awful to others and hurting people who don't deserve it, and the narrative is showing how they got here but not letting them off the hook for being cruel just because they are hurting.
i dont like ☝ what happens when you introduce this type of character to a large fandom
especially if she is a woman
A writer will live through something devastating and their first thought is unfortunately oh this is good material
What does your Whumpee think of their pre-whump self?
They pity them
They envy them
They make them angry
They mourn them
They don’t remember them
They'll do anything not to
