What is the secret behind the popularity of this phrase and who said it?

‘Umar bin al-Khattab's (رضي الله عنه) attention was drawn to the fact that Abu Bakr (رضي الله عنه) went out to the outskirts of Madinah after Fajr prayer, entered a small house for hours, and then he goes to his own house.

And ‘Umar (رضي الله عنه) knew everything that Abu Bakr (رضي الله عنه) was doing except for the secret of this house.

Days passed and the Caliph of the Believers (رضي الله عنه) is still visiting this house.

‘Umar (رضي الله عنه) still did not know what Abu Bakr was doing inside, so ‘Umar (رضي الله عنه) decided to enter the house after Abu Bakr (رضي الله عنه) left, so that he can see with his eyes what is inside, and know what Abu Bakr does after the Fajr prayer.

When ‘Umar (رضي الله عنه) entered this little house, he found a decrepit old woman who could not move and had no one, and that she is also blind.

Ibn al-Khattab (رضي الله عنه) was surprised by what he saw.

He wanted to know what is the secret of Abu Bakr's (رضي الله عنه) relationship with this blind, old woman, so he asked her:

"What does this man do here in your house?" (Meaning Abu Bakr as-Siddiq - radiyAllahu ‘anh)

The old woman answered:

"WAllahi, I do not know, my son. This man comes every morning and cleans and sweeps the house for me. Then he prepares food for me, and he leaves without talking to me."

When Abu Bakr died, ‘Umar (رضي الله عنه) completed the care of the blind old woman.

She said to him: "Did your friend die?"

He said: "How did you know?"

She said: "You brought me dates, and you did not remove the seeds from them."

‘Umar bin al-Khattab fell to his knees and his eyes filled with tears and said his famous phrase: “The Caliphs are tired after you, O Abu Bakr.”

May Allah be pleased and satisfied with them.

Dua on the Day of Arafah

Praise be to Allaah.

It was narrated that ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There is no day on which Allaah ransoms more of His slaves from the Fire than the day of ‘Arafah. He draws close then He boasts about them before the angels and says, ‘What do these people want?’” Narrated by Muslim (1348).

It was narrated from ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Amr ibn al-‘Aas (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The best of du’aa’ is du’aa’ on the day of ‘Arafah, and the best that I and the Prophets before me said is ‘Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah wahdahu la shareeka lah, lahu’l-mulk wa lahu’l-hamd wa huwa ‘ala kulli shay’in qadeer (There is no god but Allaah alone, with no partner or associate; His is the dominion, to Him be praise, and He has power over all things).” Narrated by al-Tirmidhi (3585)’ classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb (1536).

It was narrated from Talhah ibn ‘Ubayd ibn Kurayz in a mursal report: “The best of du’aa’ is du’aa’ on the day of ‘Arafah.” Narrated by Maalik in al-Muwatta’ (500); classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’ (1102). Source. 

Many of the salaf used to save their duaas for the day of Arafah. So pick up a paper and a pen and list down the duaas you want to make tomorrow inshallah. Include both deen, dunya, and akhirah. Pray for the Ummah. Tomorrow could change your life. One duaa, with a sincere heart, and a teary eye can change your entire life. Start with the night of Arafaha, wake up an hour before Fajr and pray Qiyyam and make tons of Duaa then have suhoor. Plan your day around dhikr, Quran and duaa. From Asr till Maghrib free yourself completely for duaa. Switch off your phone, go to an empty room, make tons of dhikr and duaa. And have complete faith that Allah will accept from you, and He wont turn you away. Make use of tomorrow for God Knows whether we’ll live to see another Arafah or not. May Allah accept our duaa and may He accept our efforts.
