It would have been so easy to make the Avengers into friends. Little slipped-in jokes that are shared between two characters. More smiling. Friendly touches. References to their shared lives outside of fighting. The Avengers were supposed to be a team, a family of people coming together to find solace in one another, and I’ll always hate that the movies fundamentally missed out on that point in favour of Drama And Fighting. Hell, if they’d just goddamn established the bond between Tony Stark & Steve Rogers First (Like in the comics in which they were BEST FUCKING FRIENDS) before making them fight, the impact would have been so much more monumental. I love the films, but I’ll always be sad that they missed out on that. They made the Avengers a team, but they failed to make them friends.
