Hi folks!! After literally a day I have been reminded how frustrating some of the restrictions on sideblogs are, so I’m moving on over to Thomas’s main blog at @imnottheman-yourelookingfor. Hiatus Over

Hi guys!!! So - things have gotten a little more and a little less stressful at the same time. I am hopeful that I can return to this account on a semi-slow basis as I’ve really missed playing Thomas. Send me a message if you’d like to take up our threads again or start something new!! 

Things to be aware of which I will add to the rules in due course: 

- I’m very busy at the moment so there’s a possibility I may not be the quickest responder. I will still get back to you so please be patient with me. 

- I’m updating my rules on where I stand with sex scenes to reflect the fact that I have recently discovered that I lie on the Ace/Demi scale of sexuality and this has really helped me understand my discomfort with overly sexualised scenes. I’m absolutely okay with kissing, hugging, bondage, heavy petting, power exchange, pretty much anything up until genitals enter the equation.

- In regards to the above, I’m very keen to try out some power exchange/bondage scenes with Thomas. Alpha/Omega style, Soulmate style, BDSM relationship style - whatever interests you. I’d rather not get into graphic sex (see above)  but if you’d like to discuss scenes with me send me a message. 

- Additionally I’m a huge fan of the Kingsman Secret Service universe and would love to roleplay in that or the Les Miserables universe if anyone in those universes is looking for an OC to write with. I love Les Miserables (book or musical) and Arthurian legend so drop me a line!

Hiatus Notice

Hello darlings!! Look, I am so sorry but RL is super busy and very stressful and complicated right now. I just don't have the time to come on at the moment and I am finding I am just stressing about whether or not I will be able to keep up with my replies. For now I'm putting Thomas on hiatus which should hopefully only be for the next two or three weeks!! Message me if you want to chat, I'll still check in and get messages I just may be patchy on replying. <3

Virtue's Betrayal {Thomas & Mairead}

Mairead nodded. “We’ve got guns, yeah, but bullets are in short supply and–”

“Mairead!” Conall exclaimed, his eyes flashing as he fixed her in his sights. “Bloody hell, girl. He’s the enemy, do you really trust him with…You know what, leave. And take him too, while I’m thinking of it.”

“Conall, you promised you’d help,” Mairead pleaded, watching as her cousin stood and turned to leave. “Please.” She stayed at Thomas’s side, determined to protect him if she had to.

Conall regarded his best friend’s sister with a hard glint in his eyes. “You heard me,” he said. “What would Sam think, if he were here?”

She rose. “Don’t you dare bring Sam into this, Conall,” she hissed. “Don’t you dare.”

They were loud suddenly - Thomas didn’t know how to deal with that, he wasn’t sure what he should do so he got up, fell over, and sat on the floor in confusion. It wasn’t safe for Maireas out there, not with him, never with him not considering what the other constables would do if they found them. He said so - in a muddle but he said so quite firmly. 

The doctor student fellow person was a bit intimidating from the floor - or even not from the floor. And Thomas was a bit tired, all things considered. But still, everyone was in danger while he was there and (all things considered again?) no one was hoping to find him yet, he could disappear into nothing without much trouble. 

“I’m going,” he said with as much certainty as he could manage from his position. “Mairead - you should stay here and you should keep her here, those fellows will kill her if they find her with me.”

Explain It If You Can {Mairead & Thomas} ||Victorian AU||

Mairead knew she was lucky. For a girl of her background to attract the attentions of one such as Greg Hastings, surely God had to have played a part.

It was for that reason that she did not dread marrying him. By accepting his proposal and becoming his wife, Mairead would be gaining a foothold in society for her family and families like hers. Love had nothing to do with it, and she was somehow alright with this. After all, he was kind to her and her family, and she supposed she would come to love him in her way, and he her in his.

This is what she told herself as she waited in the parlor of his family’s town house in Dublin, her gloved hands folded neatly in her lap. As Mairead and Greg were already promised to each other– the squeeze of the engagement ring was still unfamiliar– her mother had seen no reason to stay, and had left Mairead with her luggage and returned to their home. She was alone, at least until she heard the soft, telltale tapping of feet– measured, like a soldier’s– on the floor.

She rose, prepared to greet Greg when he entered in a way that a young woman greeted her future husband.

“Good afternoon,” she said, allowing a polite smile to curl the corners of her lips. “It’s so good to see you.”

Thomas followed Gregory (Greg only to his friends, certainly not his bastard second brother) at a distance, his ledger underneath his arm as he went to collect the luggage and wait until his future sister-in-law were properly greeted and welcomed before he would follow them up to her rooms. The task wouldn’t have been out of place for a valet, but then Gregory was fond of abusing power and Thomas had little better to do. 

She was different to what he had expected. He’d heard very little about the young woman, little more than what his step-mother and father said at dinner times when he could be spared from his work at the firm his father owned. At one time he might have known whether there were gossip about her, but Gregory had recently taken to spreading rumours that his second brother was a cad and a coward. Society was cold at the moment, his reputation was almost definitely irreparable and even the family took Gregory’s word though they should have known better. 

So he hadn’t known what to expect - and hadn’t expected this. She was sweet. A charming young lady with a fire in her eyes that spoke of independence and intelligence. God save her from his brother, Thomas thought as Gregory kissed her on both cheeks with a rakish grin and said Welcome to your new home, Mairead my dear.

I saw her on St Stephen's Green. She's hiding for sure if she went there. After the Rising, Conall wouldn't dare go there. She's furious with him...might want to hurry before she picks a fight or finds other trouble.

“Jesus.... okay I’m going I’m going.” 

*sound effects of frantic hurrying*

Georges and the others knew how much Mairead meant to you. That's why they did what they did to her, so they could get to you. What happened to her is all your fault.

“Well hey, what’s ruining one more life or less, right? Turn everything into disaster, me.”

Mairead's cousin got rather cross with her this evening about you. The racket could be heard in the whole building, and some of the folks think they heard him strike her. Now she's been turned out, and it's only a matter of time before a patrol picks her up and you know what then, don't you mate?

“What??? Why didn’t she tell me? That’s it I’m going to find her, excuse me.”

Not While I'm Around {Mairead & Thomas}

Mairead’s breathing slowed, and her heart followed. Not quite calm, but no longer frantic. Good enough for now.

A quiet shudder ran through her body when she felt Thomas’s hand touch the scar on her shoulder. It was still fresh pink, and the memory of the pain had faded, but remained in her mind. It was that pain that had haunted her dreams. She had to remind herself that it was over. The wretched war was over, and Ireland would get her freedom. Georges and men like him had been sent home, but Thomas had stayed. Mairead wasn’t sure why he stayed, but he did, and now he was telling her stories about the Queen of the Moon.

“What would you’ve wished for?” She asked, her words brushing against the fabric of his collarless shirt.

Thomas pressed his lips into her hair, the softest of gestures - automatic, soothing, a memory from days before his mother had gone and left them alone. He could recall bad dreams, dark nights and gentle arms gathering him up, dropping soothing kisses on his head, whispering promises of peace and safety. 

Did all mothers lie? 

“I would have - I wanted to wish - I climbed up the tree wanting to wish my family a happy ending. I’d read so many stories where people lived happily ever after, you see - and I just wanted that for my brothers and my father. My mother had gone - my father was always angry, Greg was stuck with being the eldest and it was turning him into someone I didn’t know anymore. Derrick was trying hard to be very happy, but he wasn’t. I just wanted them to be happy. What would you wish for?”

It was over; a truce had been declared. There wasn’t going to be anymore fighting, no more fear, no more violence.

“The war’s over,” Mairead said to herself, passing the telegram to one of her comrades and turning to Thomas. “The war’s over!” She declared, her eyes bright.

She felt her heart leaping in her chest, leaping with joy and not will fear. She felt she might faint from the excitement, though she reminded herself not to, otherwise she would miss the celebration that night.

Sure enough, there was a celebration, and she brought Thomas with her. Nudged along by her first sip of Guinness, Mairead boldly kissed Thomas, letting her lips linger long enough that he would have a chance to make a move of his own, should he chose to do so.

Thomas felt out of place in the celebrations, like a patch sewed wrong onto a garment that was coming off in all the wrong places. He had a half grin on his face, of course - glad beyond belief that the fighting was finally over. England wasn’t all that keen on having him back, especially his family. There’d been a short, pithy letter from his father a little before the truce was declared and he was now a man without family or homeland.

And yet - he didn’t mind. It was perhaps the most free e had ever felt. Thomas watched Mairead contentedly, willing to ignore his feeling of being uncomfortably conspicuous because it made her happy (anything to make her happy). 

He was leaning closer so that he wouldn’t miss anything she said in the crowded, noisy room - and when she suddenly closed the distance between him he had never been so surprised in all his life. She was the best, brightest thing he had, the most important person, the dearest... but he’d never thought... 

He placed a hand against her cheek and leaned into the kiss slightly - letting it linger sweetly before drawing back and smiling at her, his eyebrows raised. “What was that for?”

SNUGGLE (Thomas)

The rain was coming down in heavy sheets, slamming against the roof and windows with such force, Mairead thought they would give in and the room would flood. In the attic room, it seemed as if there wasn’t any escape from the noise. Noise like stone striking stone, or bullets glancing off metal.

The room was cold, but she felt something warm wrap around her as a soft head tucked itself against her chest. At first, she thought it was her little sister, but she knew she was wrong. Bethie was at home, far away from here, and Bethie wouldn’t feel so tense, so afraid, alongside Mairead.

“Thomas?” Mairead asked, running her hand cautiously over the side of his face, trying to picture the details in the darkness of the room. His skin was cold to the touch, something she was familiar with, having suffered from night terrors for most of her life. “Thomas, are you okay?”

“Reminded me of a lot of things,” he said softly into her shoulder, breathing in the soft warm smell of her hair, long dragging breaths in rhythm with his mental mantra. You’re not there. It’s over. You’re not there. It’s over. You’re not there. “Sorry I woke you. Sorry.”

Sorry trembled on his tongue. Every time he spoke the word in the dark of night when he was away from the things that needed to be done and the face that had to be kept up, he had a hundred things that wanted to follow. A hundred apologies for himself, for the life he’d lived, for the mistakes he’d made and the way he’d failed. He swallowed hard, fighting to keep the words down and back and away. “Sorry, Mairead.”

“You’ve nothing to be sorry for,” she assured him, combing her fingers through his dark hair and hoping that the methodical movement would help calm him. “What happened wasn’t your fault, no it wasn’t. It’s okay to be afraid.”

Thomas took a shaken breath and leaned his head hard against her shoulder, closing his eyes tight and letting out a short angry laugh that muffled against her skin. “That’s not the general consensus.” His bones hurt from trying not to shake and he felt as though he might shake apart if she wasn’t holding onto him.

Her brother's friend-- the medical student-- is trying to get her to pursue someone else. Someone from their ranks, but she's stubborn. She trusts you, and you'd do well not to betray her trust. If she'd go head to head with her brother's best friend about it, she means it. She loves you

“I’m not sure why she would. I’m not much of a catch. Still - I don’t ever intend to let her down. She’s the only person I’ve got in the world. She means the world to me.”

Her side isn't any better, and they did throw the first punch, so to speak. She's a kind sort though-- the kindest in her little brigade, and they fault her for it-- but she's learnt better than to forgive and forget easily.

“And she shouldn’t. It’s a dangerous thing to be too forgiving, especially here and now. It’s even more dangerous to forget too quickly what has come before. I commend her for all her qualities, her kindness and bravery as well as her staunchness and her unswerving will.”

Thomas-- you and Mairead. You know it'll never work, don't you? You can't ever understand her world, and she won't forgive you and your fellow officers for what you did.

“You’re quite probably right there, Mr Grey Face. However, I’m happy to offer my friendship as long as she wants it. It’s up to her whether anything else happens between us...”

“Jesus, I don’t forgive us for what we did, why the hell do you think I’d expect her to? We were murdering bastards!”

Not While I'm Around || Mairead and Thomas

“It’s me,” dumb thing to say Hastings. She knows that. God. “I’m here.” He pressed her close to his chest, letting his hand stroke through her hair slowly and trying to even his own breathing to a deep, soothing pace, counting through the number of things he felt he needed when he awoke in the early hours with thoughts of death on his mind. “It’s not the morning yet,” he continued, softly. “There’s a moon in the sky as full and round as a penny coin, looking like he’s wondering why we’re awake and laughing at us from the other side of his face. You can’t see it - I can’t see it, but it’s there. Once I crept out of my home, when I was seven or so, on a night like this one because I couldn’t sleep. I ran down to the nearest tree and I climbed as high as I could, because my nurse had told me that if you got a piece of the moon the Queen of the Moon would come and offer you a wish to get it back. I got to the top and I jumped for the sky - and fell all the way to the ground. luckily it wasn’t a very tall tree, but I broke my wrist and my father was most annoyed with me.” He smiled and gave her a soft squeeze. “I was a foolish child.”

Mairead lay in his arms, not responding to his touch– not because she didn’t want to, but because she couldn’t. Her body was still paralyzed from sleep; this had happened before, but that had been a long time ago. She could feel her muscles begin to relax, but it was agonizingly slow.

“Thomas,” she said, her voice coming out as an airy whisper. She tucked her head beneath his chin, but kept her eyes open. Her heart was still racing, and she wasn’t sure it would ever fall still.

The details of the nightmare were still fuzzy, but she had a decent enough idea of what they might be about. Sam, losing Sam, or being hurt by Georges…or the many times she thought she was going to be shot and had to watch her friends die.
