Get your gear on and lose those extra pounds. Happy Monday morning everyone!!!
Rolled Oats with a Twist
Ingredients:
1/2 cup rolled oats 1 cup unsweetened coconut milk (from the box, not the can) 1 1/2 tablespoon whole chia seeds A pinch of salt 2 tablespoons unsweetened shredded coconut 1 tablespoon sliced almonds 1 tablespoon cacao nibs (or carob or chocolate chips for added sweetness)
Method:
Pour the oats, milk, seeds, and salt into a jar with an air-tight lid. Shake the contents very well to prevent the seeds from clumping and then put the jar in the fridge overnight to set. In the morning, shake some more. Pour into a bowl and top with coconut, almonds, and cacao. -
Note: Overnight oats are best when shaken, not stirred. So do be sure to prepare them in a jar with an air-tight lid, for optimal shaking capability.
Happy Friday guys!!!!!

The Slow Movement –Shifting To Organic Food
Before we delve into the topic of shifting into organic foods, I’d like to give you an idea of why I am writing this entry and what made me decide to do so.
First and foremost let’s determine what type of eater am I. Funny as this may sound I am not from the Jurassic period or yet the Stone Age. It seems that there are apparently 6 types of eaters in our society let’s explore them one by one and choose which one suits us best.
FIRST: The Nibbler: We snack throughout the day. It does not matter if we are hungry or not. We tend to reject formal diet plans because based on our perception even if we eat better we never seem to lose weight.
SECOND: The Gorger: Though we constantly think we should lose weight, we still find ourselves munching large amounts of junk food or fast-food. Usually this eating pattern is triggered by your emotions such as feeling lonely, anxious or annoyed. This emotions tend to perpetuate self-loathing that affects our mindset of staying healthy food choice wise.
THIRD: The Diet Junkie: Whenever there is a new diet in town we try it. We are not bothered by the nutritional content. We view the food as a vehicle to lose weight (referred to as diet –hopping).
FOURTH: The Binger: You play swing weird huh? Thought that term was only for couples who are open minded or maybe it’s the term used for dance. Well most of the time bingers have the steely will power to lose weight and eat healthy, but and there is always a but that we are swayed to a moment of craziness and crave for high sugar binges.
FIFTH: The Zombie: No I have not watched too many zombie movies and YES there is such a thing as a zombie eater. This type of eater is usually out of habit and routine. Most of the time they seldom think of what’s in their meal.
SIXTH: The Comfort Eater: You eat out due to emotional reasons. You use food to void yourself from painful feelings. If you are this type of eater you are not in touch with your hunger signals and tend to deny yourself from eating a healthy balanced meal.
Now that we have jot down all six eater types I have to say hhhmmm… I have a touch of all of them. Yeikz! I know right but I just can’t help it, I have bipolar tendencies when it comes to food and eating habits. I’d like to blame it on a missing gym buddy or a strong motivation that would just and could just push me over the edge in going for a healthy lifestyle.
Now that I am setting my heart in discussing organic foods and products maybe this will be the tilting point that could or would just let me win over my unhealthy habit towards food. What do you think?
