Bandai Japan Announces Digimon Digital Monster Vital Bracelet
Just a few days ago Bandai Japan was teasing an all new Digimon Digital Monster, and they’ve just made the official announcement! We were seeing a mention of “VB” in the tease, and now we understand that stands for viral bracelet.
The Digimon Digital Monster Monster Vital Bracelet is a virtual pet unlike anything we’ve seen before. First off, this is the first Digimon product to feature a color screen, YAY! This is not your traditional virtual pet because its actually worn directly on your wrist and interacts with its caregiver like no other Tamagotchi. The Digimon character will develop and evolve into different characters based on the activity data of the caregiver, such as the hear rate and amount of steps taken.
A promotion video demonstrates the Digimon Digital Monster Vital Bracelet which really focuses on the caregiver activity and growth of the Digimon based on the activity data. You’ll also notice that the bracelet comes in three colors black, white, and yellow. The yellow bracelet is exclusive to Premium Bandai, since this is considered to be a special color.
So what features does the Digimon Digital Monster Vital Bracelet have? It features a built-in heart rate monitor, and pedometer so you can easily view your current heart rate, and count the number of steps you’ve taken. The device, including the new LCD display is powered by a lithium-ion polymer battery that can be charged via USB. Various data can be added to the bracelet using the DIM card (Digimon Identified Memory Card), which is sold separately.
The DIM Cards will allow users to download new content by plugging them into their bracelet. Each DIM card will feature different Digimon characters that you’ll be able to raise, and Bandai Japan teases that they are planning to develop many more DIM card’s in the future! The current DIM Card that will be available on launch is EX Digimon Adventure. Additional DIM Cards such as DIM Card Set Vol. 1 Volcanic Beat & Blizzard Fang will be available in April of 2021. DIM Cards will retail for ¥1,760.
Simply insert the DIM card into your Digimon Digital Monster Vital Bracelet and you’ll be able to hatch your first Digimon and throughout your daily activities, you can watch them grow by completing various missions centered on exercise. There are three main features of the bracelet, which are PULSE LINK, TOUCH LINK, and APP LOG LINK.
PULSE LINK - The vital value and mental state of Digimon fluctuate according to the user’s activity data (heart rate / steps), leading to development and evolution.
TOUCH LINK - Auto-battle is activated by touching “Vital Breath” on an IC device that emits radio waves, such as a smartphone equipped with NFC. The winning percentage of battles changes depending on the activity status of users and the mentality of Digimon, and it also affects the development and evolution of Digimon.
APP LOG LINK - Cooperation with a dedicated smartphone app *. You can add user activity records, add daily missions, and register the cultivated Digimon in the Digimon Encyclopedia on the app. The app is scheduled to be updated in the future, and it will be possible to browse online battles with users nationwide, “Raid Battle” to defeat enemies in cooperation with multiple users, and rankings.
This is a super exciting, and all new product for the Digimon brand! Both the Digimon Digital Monster Vital Bracelet and dedicated smartphone application are scheduled to be released in Japan on Saturday, March 13th 2021!
