The way nothing is going as badly as we expected makes me think that this is another V3 situation where they’re lulling us into a false sense of security before pulling the rug out from under us later on when we’re least prepared for it.

me: ironwood at his very core is trying to do good, but it’s clear his bias towards atlas, particularly the elite, is causing him to allow human right violations and the mass suffering of poor people for the “greater good”, which is incredibly similar to how ozpin also sacrificed many of the people in his circle for the greater good. him telling the people the truth doesn’t make up for the horrible shit he’s still committing in the name of defeating salem, and to treat this as a black and white “truth is always good and lies are always bad” without putting into context the power ironwood has over the kids and how this is half an effort to protect themselves is honestly not a good take-

Before anyone says “oh Ruby’s just like Ozpin now” just,,, think. For a second.

Ozpin lied to people he had virtually no reason to lie to. He told them he trusted them completely, and still didn’t tell the truth.

Ruby’s not telling the whole truth because she doesn’t believe Ironwood is doing so either. She didn’t explicitly agree to his plan; she asked for more details. She’s seen Mantle, and knows Atlas clearly isn’t prepared to help their closest neighbour let alone the rest of the world if/when he tells everyone about Salem. She’s earned the trust of her extended team and that’s shown when no one even interjects as she doesn’t tell the full story, and is still most likely gonna be honest with all of them, but that trust doesn’t extend to Ironwood.
