I honestly just go in, browse, check price tags, grab some stuff I want that aren’t tagged and some hoodies and shirts that are tagged that I don’t want. Then I ask an SA for a dressing room and they don’t count at all they just open the door and that’s it. Then I roll up the clothes I want and triple check for tags and then I put it in shopping bags and my purse and then leave the clothes I don’t want in the dressing room and leave. An SA has never asked me about the clothes I had but if they do just say you left it in the dressing room. The SA’s at Zumiez are superrrrr chill like they don’t pay you any mind besides greeting at the door

if you're caught on camera lifting, can they stop you or something the next time you go into the store? I was at a large-ish department store the other day and took a couple things and I think I concealed in a pretty good blind spot but now I'm just kind of paranoid about it...

Naaaah if you concealed in a good blindspot you should be alright. If you’re really paranoid, just wait awhile before you go back (maybe try and find out how long they keep their camera footage) and when you do, just scope it out and see if anyone’s paying extra attention to you or following you around. But you should be okay!

False. I’ve definitely heard of people getting caught, then receiving additional charges for previous thefts in that store. LP hate it when you screw them over more than once. Also note that some department stores *cough*Walmart*cough* use pinhole cameras so your blindspot might not be so…inconspicuous.

Stores typically keep camera footage for 30 days. Then it’s overwritten. However, if they catch a theft on camera, they can save that footage for longer.

I saw a post about writing down techniques with hauls per store so I’ll do that now:

Zumiez: About half of their inventory was tagged depending on price and brand, so I made sure to get a couple items that I wanted and then some big hoodies that I didn’t want. For the hat, it was the only thing not tagged and I wedged it between shirts to hide it. My fiancé used the same method and he went into the dressing room first. He left what he wanted on the bench and had the rest hung up and I went in after him and made sure to check for tags and then roll up the clothes and put them in my purse and other shopping bags I had with me then left everything I didn’t want in the dressing room and walked out.

Ulta: I walked in and grabbed a tote from the entrance and started walking around and grabbing doubles of what I wanted, making sure to check prices and test shades on my hand and continue walking around and when I got what I wanted I went into a blind spot which was by the hair care products, bent down pretending to inspect something while my fiancé kept look out for me and then walked around a bit more and left the tote with the duplicates by the drugstore brand makeup

Claire’s: I was in there for about two minutes, the earrings rack was right next to the door, took the two packs I wanted, had them under my phone to hide from SA’s and then walked out before anyone even noticed we were there

ALL ABOUT MAGNET DETECTORS

Okay so a lot of people suggest holding up their golf detachers above their heads when passing through magnet detectors in stores. ⚠️ THIS DOES ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!! ⚠️

This is trusted information from my a friend who used to work for LP. Holding your bag or magnet above your head or going around is not going to help. They have a 3 feet reach up and sideways.

These are the only stores I know that have magnet detectors: Macy’s Nordstrom American Eagle Forever 21

If you guys know any more tips or knowledge about magnet detectors or more stores please add on to this post.

So theres been a lot of speculation regarding fitting room monitoring. Basically, the way they monitor you is by sitting in a little room behind the reflective glass watching you. By the picture you can see that if there is a gap between your finger and the mirror its a real mirror!! If theres ***NO*** gap its a transparent mirror and get the fuck out of there. (MACYS DOES THIS!!!) A good way to remember this is “NO SPACE, LEAVE THE PLACE”
