BACKGROUND. when tillie was a youngling, barely a year old, she was kidnapped by traffickers to be sold for coin. her parents tried to hunt them down, but they lost their trail in the wilds, only to be attacked and killed by an owlbear mother protecting the cubs they unfortunately stumbled too close to. tillie’s kidnappers didn’t fair well in the wilds either, however, becoming prey to the beasts that lurked in the trees. the young tiefling was helpless to defend herself, only just then barely able to walk on clumsy, chubby legs. a pair of large wolves found tillie in time, before panthers turned her into a tender snack, fighting the beasts off. the wolves were a pair of human druid women, living the majority of their lives as wolves in wild shape in the wilderness, hunting and surviving.
in fact, tillie doesn’t even know anything of her past, or her childhood. there was nothing left of her parents bodies and they were never found, and it’s the greatest mystery of the tiefling’s life, wondering whether or not her parents just left her to die in the wilderness because they never wanted her. tillie was named by the druid wolves who raised her, giselle & margery. they taught her druid magic and wild shape at a young age, and by the time she was ten, she was living her life mostly as a wolf with them. because of this, tillie was incredibly feral in her childhood, and she barely spoke the common language until showing interest in learning, and her druid caretakers fed tillie’s curious mind. they showed her how to read and how to write, and as the curiousity of the world grew, tillie knew she wanted to explore as much of it as she could in her lifetime.
and so, explore she did. when she turned fifteen, she had mastered her wild shape and magic, and she set off on the beginning of many adventures, thanking giselle & margery for everything they did for her. for the next four years, tillie spent about seventy percent of her life in the form of a wolf, hunting small prey for food, and the other thirty percent trying to learn to better enhance her communication skills with other people and consuming as much knowledge about nature, magic, and the world around her like a sponge in a pool of information.
WHERE SHE IS NOW. when tillie was 19, she stumbled upon the lovely druid community known as emerald grove, drawn to it like a moth to a flame. this is where the druid halsin takes her under his wing, and teaches her of silvanus, the oak father, and for the next decade, tillie has become quite the skilled druid in nature, survival, magic and even religion. she still explored throughout these years, but she never forgot to return to what she considered to be home ; emerald grove.
it’s not until goblins threaten the livelihood of their community, halsin having been missing for a tenday, and kagha taking it upon herself to threaten out the other tieflings and seal the grove from entry and escape entirely that tillie sets off on her most recent quest -- to find halsin and seek out help with their goblin problem and put an end to kagha’s madness. she travels with a large, black wolf named fang, a wolf who’s been her companion for nearly five years. they helped one another fight off some humans hunting them for sport, and he’s lived in the grove with her since.
on their journey, they meet fey creatures in an enchanted forest. fang is distrusting immediately, telling tillie that they smell like dread and lies, but tillie can recall giselle & margery telling her of the deals the fey can produce, and also the warning they heeded not to trust them. but tillie would do anything to protect her family at the grove, without casting out the tieflings who tillie also considered to be family to surely be slaughtered on the road. the fey were eager to ‘help’, but unbeknownst to the tiefling, these fey were True Souls, trying to lead the lamb to the slaughter. tillie manages to pick up on the fact that something was.... off. she denies their help, and tries to leave, but they hit her with powerful magic that makes the world go dark. she falls into a deep sleep. she wakes with a swimming in her head on the malfunctioning nautiloid ship.
COMPANION CHARACTER. if tillie is being roleplayed as one of the companion characters, then she can be found thick in the brush, near the nautiloid crash, tangled up in someone’s entangle enchantment. she’s unconscious. when the ship crashed, she can’t even recall how she managed to survive the fall, and she was too exhausted to use any of her magic and too restricted by the magical vines to reach for her knife, and blacked out right there. the panic of knowing she might be in someone’s trap and feeling vulnerable not enough to stay conscious.
PERSONALITY. tillie used to be extremely feral in her childhood. she didn’t learn the common language until she was around eleven, and she became more curious of the world around her. most of her time was spent with the druid women who raised her as wolves, and she herself a wolf when she learned wild shape. people weren’t usually to be trusted, tillie felt safer around beasts and animals. as time progressed, and she learned more of civilization in her adventures. she’s currently twenty - nine, and in those years, tillie has become a lot more cultivated. though, she still prefers to spend most of her time in wild shape, particularly as a wolf. she spent so many years hunting for her food, no need for coin to buy food ( crime and theivery make her feel sort of icky ), and curling up comfortably anywhere for sleep as a wolf, so it’s just the thing that comes most naturally to the druid.
she’s learned to be a bit more trusting of a lot of people, knowing that the majority of people don’t particularly want to be doing things that are evil and nefarious. and she’s gained the widsom to know when people are using her, or tricking her. manners are something she struggles with, and she has zero recognition of social cues. she says the first thing that comes to her mind and never hides what she’s thinking. if she hurts your feelings, she probably didn’t mean to. she will interrupt people excitedly whenever they say something that makes her think of a thing that she just can’t surpress, for fear she may forget by the time it’s actually her turn to speak again. she’s typically friendly and high-spirited, just happy to exist, but if she’s angry or she feels threatened, it’s instantaneous wolf mode.
she can’t really tell when people are flirting with her, either. you have to make it incredibly obvious that you are romantically/sexually interested in her before it clicks in her brain. and whenever she does know someone likes her, she gets overly-attached very quickly, but she doesn’t know the traditional way of courting someone, so she just does her best to make you feel special to her: she’ll bring you every pretty flower she finds, listen to you speak as if you’re saying the most important words to ever be spoken and give you her full and undivided attention. she’d rip the jugulars out of the throats of your enemies with her teeth.
OTHER INFORMATION. tillie recieved the scar on her lips by accidentally spooking a lost owlbear cub trying to help it get back to its mother.
she speaks with an incredibly thick accent, and it’s slightly higher in pitch than the average. she uses quite poor grammar, and she stands at 5’7”.
