Baby Driver Review

Well, this is something I was not expecting. It has to be said that from the moment I saw the trailer I was anticipating this film! It did not fail in delivering a fantastic movie experiance that I believe everybody should have the pleasure of seeing this summer.

Baby Driver comes from the brilliant mind of Edgar Wright, who a quick Google search will tell you is one of your favourite directors if you are a fan of comedy/action ;) The casting is amazing and combines great acting, a solid story and a soundtrack to rival that of Gardians of the Galaxy to make a film that is well worth a watch!

Ansel Elgort (Baby) has already proven his worth as an actor in films such as The Fault in our Stars and Divergent, but in this film he really comes into his own. The coriography and nature of the film see him struggle to break free from a world of crime he simply does not belong in, only to be thrown back head first. Other supporting actors such as Jaime Fox really help to show how far Baby can fall; his moral code is the only thing keeping him from falling to the same depths as characters such as Bats.

The plot and pacing the film takes are also fantastic and really keep the audience on the edge of their seat.

Simply put this is a must see film this summer :)

Best film to see this summer

Okay, so it's finally summer time and you got lots to do. Day trips, hollidays, meeting friends, parties and cinema. There are some fantatic filmsout this summer and with such a busy To Do list you need to know which ones are worth a visit. Luckily I have compiled a list for films you should watch depemnding on your age! Age 1-3 Why the hell are you in the cinema...you cry, you can't control your bladder...get outside...what were your parents thinking! Age 4-8 Now your old enpugh to go to the cinema, Cars 3 is out now. It is another child friendly adventure of self improvement but apparently you can't get enough of that crap so have fun with this one! Age 6-12 Despicable Me 3 is ALSO out in cinemas...aernt you lucky...and so if you have already seen Cars 3, or have been locked inside your local cinema all holliday then this one should be top of your list. Oh and this (Unlike Cars 3) is actually barable for your parents to watch aswell! Age 10-18 Okay so we are getting to some grittier films! On your list there is one film you need to watch this summer and that is War For The Planet Of The Apes! It is the third movie in the series (Christ, what is going on with trilogies this summer?) but that shouldn't stop you. Even if you have no idea what an Ape is this one is worth a watch simply because of explosions and violence and talking monkeys! so....worth a watch. Age 14+ Dunkirk....need I say more. It is an emotional, yet mature film focusing on some of the harsh realities of the second world war. It is also NOT a film to bring your kids to because you were too cheap to get a babysitter! There are people dying and LOUD NOISES in this film and so a young child will get scared if they are not expecting this! It is meant to be unsettling to even full grown adults and it succeeds at this. 100% worth watching but respect the content and the other cinema goers :)

Spider-man Homecoming (2017 Review)

Spider-man Homecoming is a fun and uplifting Marvel film, free from the world ending, cosmic fight scenes we have been used to seeing in recent years. It is a pleasant change to return to the quieter streets of New York and watch one of the worlds most well known superhero stick up for the little guys once again.

As a big fan of the comic books, I am very particular in how Spidey is portrayed. Jon Watts (Director) does an amazing job at capturing the audiences attention and holding it until the end. I found with every scene I was falling further and further into the story, making me feel like a kid again as I watched the wall-crawling jokester swing around the city. Tom Holland is quite honestly the perfect spiderman with a background in gymnastics. He is simply excellent. A trulety loveable and believeable Peter Parker.

So, is this a perfect film? obviously not. Though Tom is sublime and the story is captivating there are a few minor points that really hold this movie back. The first is that there are too many animated scenes! Okay, so I know you can’t literally swing an actor from a building, but the decision to animate so much of the film I felt very distracting when I noticed that it had been done. It was done well, but if you notice it then it can distract you from a strong storyline. This is most relevant at the start of the movie, but the observant eye will notice it throughout.

My biggest issue is with the characters. In the comic series Peter Parkers best friend is Harry Osborn. His first real romance is with Gwen Stacey. I understand the logistics of not including these characters. There are so many stories that were written around these well known characters that by incluing them it forces screenwriters down a path that they may not wish to go. As a result Ned and Liz were introduced. That is perfectly fine and the actors do a decent job! The inclusion of Ned even hints at the sinister six featuring in future movies, which might further develope the character. However, they decided to include the character of MJ (originally called Mary-Jane, a confident and popular redhead) but changed her entire character into a nerdier and less social girl called Michelle. This I have a major issue with; when the character was first introduced to the audience as Michelle, she is a seperate entity not restricted by the comics. However, by saying “my friends call me MJ” at the end of the movie the two characters become distorted. Their different personalities can be an issue to long time comic book fans who associate MJ with the completley different character of Mary-Jane. It feels like the writers decided to give a new character an old name that does not belong to her. It is a cheap way to introduce a massivley important character in Peters life.

All in all Spider-man Homecomingis an impressive film and offers alot to new and returning Marvel fans. It is definitly worth a watch this summer! 7/10

The Mummy (2017) Review Okay, so it's a bit late on the review but ohh well. The Mummy has recieved mixed reviews (mostly bad) but it is 100% worth watching. If you are a fan of the first two Mummy films, then this film is right up your alley. It has moments of comedy but do not mistake this for a happy film. It struggles with the balance between comedy relief and horror. Tom Cruise does a decent job in his role. In recent years, I think it is fair to say that the actor has fallen into relativley simular roles; this film is no different. The Mummy is a very decent return to one of my favourite movie franchise. It seems to aim more towards an older audience with a darker plot. The characters, though well acted, are pradicaible and nothing new to any movie fanatic. This is a well rounded film that offers movie lovers a darker take on The Mummy series and is a must watch for fans of the original. 6/10

Mart Watney gets abandoned on mars and is left alone for an incredible amount of time to fend, feed and survive on his own...on mars.

From outstanding acting to an incredible plot, this film delivers on every level!

Martian (review)

Oh my god...there is a god!

So yesterday, i had the honor, and yes it was an honor, of watching the new film - Martian.

Th basic plot is that Mark Watney is left stranded on Mars after the mission goes south. Has to survive there for several hundred days, and try to find a way off the planet!

This has it all, which is why i loved the film. It is comedic, tense, emotional, action and suspense. The acting is outstanding, the quality of everything is out of this world...see what i did there!

This is my MUST WATCH! If you have the time, go and see this film! It is s brilliant. There is not a point against it. Any issues you have will be down to personal opinion, but it is entertaining enough to overlook.

Manaleak

Hello mtg players and lovers alike. For the past few months i have been using the website Manaleak.com to complete my recent transactions and deck building experiences.

I have bought everything from singles, deck boxes and sleeves, all the way to a booster box. The service of this site is outstanding. the prices fair.

So my only complaint is that once payment is received and confirmed, all done safely via paypal. It takes a little while before the order is shipped. However, once shipped it arrives usually the next day, with a free random rare!!

The best way to describe this site is in an experience i recently had. Bought some singles for a deck. They all arrived relatively quickly with the random rare. All except one, they stated that the card would be shipped separateness asap at no extra cost. 5 days go by and no sign. So i email them up and as about the location of the card. which cost 10 pence. They apologized profusely and the person i mailed personally saw it shipped the next day! it arrived one day later, with four random cards, plus another free rare as an apology gift for it being late!!!!!

For any mtg players this is the BEST site to go to buy anything mtg related. Hands down my go to mtg supplier!

Magic Duels Review

For those that don’t know, i love magic the gathering...so when i heard about magic duels i decided to give it a go. Its a free to play game on steam and i recommend you at least give it a try.

So firstly, despite all the reviews...magic duels is NOT a bad game!! Why would it be. The issues i have found is firstly, you have to play the long ass tutorial of how to play which takes a while. But that's only bad for experienced players! For new mtg players this is extrememley helpful and very fun to do as it also tells you the backstory of the planeswalker Gideon.

Secondly, you dont have as much freedom as in regular, over the table magic the gathering. But this is something that will always be the case!

Lastly, its only one set (origins) i hope they release more but honestly who knows, despite this there is still enough gameplay here to teach new players how to play, plus how to construct different decks and try new colours for free!! How can that be a bad thing!!

Okay, its not amazing and not a must play! but if your new to the magic world, want to give the game a fair try, or even just want something to spend a few hours playing i urge you to give this a try! It’s free, gotten alot of unneeded crap and surprisingly fu when you get past the tutorial.

Farcry 4

Soooo this game came out a while ago...truth be told i am writing this because i need to talk about it. My experiance of farcry is that ive played 1,2 and now 4. I found the first 2 okay, so never tried 3.

For those of you like me who are super late playing games. Farcy 4 is an outstanding, must play game. You have a huge map to explore (kyrat) so many fun npc’s to meet and choices to make. If your looking for a fun game to sink hundreds of hours into whilst you wait for the many games out this winter, this is where i would recommend you start!

James bond - John Gardner

Not so much a review as is a discussion. So recently i have read my second James bond book by John Gardner. I have read license to kill and have just finished Death is Forever.

Firstly i have to point out that John Gardner did not create the character of James Bond, however is responsible for several bond books.

Death is forever is a gripping tale about spy on spy violence in the 1990′s after the collapse of the Berlin wall! Now i will say here, i personally loved license to kill! i mean loved!!! However Death is Forever just feels lazy. The action scenes we all associate with James Bond are not very present, the story is relatively predictable after a certain point, and the spy on spy action feels...just wrong.

For fans of James Bond, i highly recommend reading the books or picking up some audio books, they are incredible stories! I really don't want my opinion of Death is Forever to stop anyone trying the books out. I only want to point out that this particular story, just wasn't up to my standards. Sure it was interesting, but should've been well shorter than it was.

Finally i feel any James Bond book is worth picking up. Honestly some great reads and relatively short books too which is a plus. My final thoughts on Death is forever is that it has a lot of good points but just didn't feel like a James Bond story...more a spy story which didn't quite cut it.

Supernatural Review

So I, like many others out there, love Supernatural. Just so people reading this know, i have seen series 1-9. The Supernatural series is thankfully still ongoing and thought id give you my review on the story so far.

Sam and Dean Winchester and Hunters, people who go out and kill/gank monsters. There are whole series dedicated to different plots, from demons, to the devil to god knows what else. Each episode they face a different threat and its really just that...but so much more. Lets break this down.

Firstly, The acting in it by all members of cast is cheesy and in some cases bad at times. Sorry but its true - When Sam and Dean have these emotional moments i wanna throw up. But character development and blah blah blah i hear you saying? well shut up, its lame and we all know it. That little rant said...the acting kinda makes it Supernatural. The fact that they aren’t the best actors makes me like them even more!

Plots. Usually kill this or kill that, to some really long drawn out plot about demons, I found that they got dull after a while. However, then you get to those episodes, you know the ones - the silly ones that are meant to be funny, or ones in later series that are different and unique...now they are some of the best episodes of anything ive seen in my life!

I realise im rambling so lets cut this short. Supernatural, can be considered bad if you dont commit. What i mean here is that if you watch one episode, you may be like “WTF” But if you watch the series, you'll find yourself being pulled in bit by bit. You may have minor issues with acting or long plot lines...but that somehow makes the show unique.

Supernatural is a great show that when you look past the few thing that hold it back, You find a show that is not only serious and captivating, but funny and memorable. Fore those of you that have not seen supernatural, watch it...like now! Quickly!!!!!

Arena 13 by joseph delaney is amazing. I know you were expecting a review but what can I say...its fucking great! Okay, so the main characters called Leif, yes like that dude on animal crossing. Well he wants to kill this evil guy...well not a guy...machine...oh fuck it! This is a must read! Like buy this book!! Its about fighting, revenge, machines, post apocolyptic-non hunger game love triangle amazingness! If your a fan of reading this is worth the pick up...i even put a blured image of the book to prove it :P 9/10 Apart from occasional lags in the story this was outstanding!

Shadow of mordor review

Okay so I know this game cane out a while ago, but I decided to see what I've missed...bit dissappointed. Shadow of mordor is a solid game! Batman style combat and assassins creed like movement and assassinations, any fans of those games will love this! However apart from branding and saurons army this game offers very very little new! The voice acting is great and i honestly enjoyed my play through but there are a few issues that can not be overlooked. Plain maps, of which you don't even get to see the places you may wish to. Poor NPCs - no emotional connection to anyone! Predictable plot Similar side quests...over and over again! With issues like this I feel that there are much better games to play. I think the game is definateley worth picking up but there is such poor replay value and such terrible boss fights that I feel players should know, this game is not worth the hype. 4/10 Good game but as there is so little new to offer and there are plenty of points to improve I feel this has so much more to offer :/

Antman (review)

Antman is one of those films that will appeal to the masses. Its funny, action packed and to be entirely honest, fantastic! Though the comic nerd in me does find minute issues there is nothing that fans of the previous marvel films will not enjoy. I recommend this to everyone! Go watch it it is worth your time and money! Not only will antman make a great avenger but I think he makes a great addition to the marvel universe! 7/10 Good film, definateley a must watch of summer 2015!

MTG origins (deck builders toolkit)

So for any new players of magic the gathering (MTG) a prebuilt deck or deck builders toolkit is the way to go! The dbt, allows players to built several decks, full of exciting creatures! I won't bother going over the specifics of the dbt, what it contains is semi random meaning that it is easy to find online :) For longtime fans of the game i found the dbt to be a very poor introduction into MTG origins, the latest set in the long running MTG series. However the dbt in general is such great value for money, giving any player all they need to have hours of fun! I personally purchased the kiora vs Elspeth duel decks along with the dbt. This I feel is not necessary to new players. What it did for me was give me something to work with to build a more complex deck. For newer players the dbt offers more than enough for you a d a friend to build a good deck each, if you already have a deck and with to make improvements, this is also a viable way to go! The dbt for the recent origins set contains over 200 cards. There is land, rare cards, boosters, and a place to store your cards! It can be purchased for £15-18 so is great for new players! 6/10 Outstanding for new players to MTG, teaching how to play and giving so much deck choice! However its worth does decline for more experienced players.
