ChooseMyPlate.gov provides practical information to individuals, health professionals, nutrition educators, and the food industry to help consumers build healthier diets with resources and tools for dietary assessment, nutrition education, and other user-friendly nutrition information.
ChooseMyPlate.gov is a website that's mainly geared towards nutrition. Even though I'm doing Physical Education and technology bringing a different aspect into this such as health and nutrition would be interesting to show people that you can bring tech into any class. So a little bit on MyPlate. MyPlate is the current nutrition guide given by the United States Department of Agriculture which includes a place setting with a plate and glass divided into five food groups. The five food groups are divided into sections of approximately 30 percent grains, 40 percent vegetables, 10 percent fruits and 20 percent protein, with a smaller circle representing dairy, which is a glass of milk or a yogurt cup. It replaced the USDA's MyPyramid guide and will be brought into the health classes across the U.S.
If I were to teach this segment to my students I definitely would use the website ChooseMyPlate.gov because it’s easy to use, very educational, interactive, and would actually teach the right proportions and foods a young adult would have to eat to stay healthy and maintain a healthy lifestyle growing up.
