Wanted to share real quick a colour picking method I found useful!

When making the first colour palette, I selected the colours and shifted them using clip's 'hue/luminosity/saturation' tool, and it resulted in my colours being not quite what I wanted. The colours were much more blue than intended, and the values were kinda everywhere.

I edited the palette by intentionally picking colours on the wheel/square. Though I originally wanted a complementary palette of red-green, I ended up with a tetradic square of blue-green-purple-red which I do like a lot more, and kept the values more close to each other.

I like the result I ended up with a lot as a final palette! That said, the brightness of the first pass palette does look good for a one-time illustration too :3
