But second, Betty. Darling. Sweet summer child. Your sister was admitted there and could testify to the abusive treatment that goes on at this place. Cheryl endured attempted conversion "therapy" along with countless others over the years. You understand this is a place of suffering and trauma. Shouldn't you just bring in the FBI and get them shut down anyway?? For someone who supposedly cares about the wellbeing of others, you just use those suffering people as leverage to get something you want from batshit crazy Nuns?

Been doing a rewatch of Riverdale and this morning, I had an hour before going to work so I thought I'd watch an episode for funsies.

Unfortunately, it's the Carrie: The Musical episode. So I am not having fun.

I'm sure I'm either wrong or never delved deeper into Jack Sparrow lore, but I rewatched Dead Man's Chest and wondered who the people in the river were at the end when the group makes their way back to Tia Dolma's house. They all held candles in vigil and one woman was silently crying. Who were these people?

I know that Sparrow was branded by Beckett because he freed a slave ship (as evident in At World's End deleted scene when he tells Beckett that people aren't cargo) and that it becomes the ship that Davy Jones raises up from the depths to become The Black Pearl. It's also evident that he saved many people from the ship and it would explain why Davy Jones claims that Jack's soul is worth 100 souls. He saved 100 people off a slave ship, whether it was through a bargain with Jones or he freed them while the ship was going down.

I think all the people that came out to stand in the river with a candlelight vigil were the men and women Jack saved from that ship and he helped them get to safety in Tia Dolma's swamps where they could be free.

It's a good use of "show, don't tell" if that's the case and such a small detail that I've overlooked for 20 years. Again, I may be way off the mark, but in the spirit of storytelling, that's what I choose to believe.

Last night I dreamt that I was at a concert and Taylor Swift was sitting in front of me. So I did what any sane person does when a tacky, shallow, narcissistic billionaire is near them- I started talking shit like she wasn't there. About how her songs all sound the same and her lyric writing has not fundamentally changed since she was a teenager because she's never bothered to get an education and she's coasting on her own personal victimhood to write songs these days. I went on about how she must think her fans are so fucking stupid because what do you mean she re-releases the same fucking albums but with a different picture on the cover? I went off and Dream Taylor turned around and was like, "That's so mean. Why would you say that?" And then she ran out of the theater before I could really tell her what I thought about her daddy buying her a music career as a talentless hack. I woke up smiling. What a dumbass.

If you pay close attention to the rest of this movie and employ your critical thinking skills, you may find that the answer unfolds as it goes along. Sometimes it's good not to know yet, and to wonder. Sometimes that's the entire point.
