Reason for Meeting: Jewel Streets Neighborhoods Rebuilding Efforts
The City Hall chambers were buzzing with energy as members of Mayor Fisk's cabinet filed in. A small crowd had turned out to the meeting as expected.
While most of the deliberating had been completed previously behind closed doors, the law required the public's input on public works projects be heard. As such, the Mayor had arranged the meeting to happen in accordance with it, before full implementation occurred.
After his cabinet took their seats, Fisk himself walked into the room, donning his signature white suit.
He gave the crowd a once over then continued to the podium, the chatter in the room coming to a prompt close. He folded his hands across the flat top and got straight to business, "Hello to all of my fellow New Yorkers, it is an honor and a privilege to be here with you all tonight." He paused, allowing the applause to die down while made eye contact with a few members of the audience. "This could have easily been marred by the circumstances of our meeting, but it is through adversity that we all managed to find the strength to be here with one another. One of our neighborhoods was destroyed and it is up to us to make an effort to collectively pick up the pieces and not only build again, but rebuild stronger and better than ever before. Through our collective efforts, we will make the Jewel Streets shine once again."
"The City has a pre-approved list of goals for the rebuilding of the neighborhoods, that I will share with you now. First, we would like to focus on environmental stability as well as safety. In addition to clearing out the rubble, we are going to repurpose and salvage the material that was previously reduced to rubble. Steel and aluminum will be used for roofing as well as support beams, ensuring that they will better withstand environmental factors such as hurricanes or even extraterrestrial alien attacks."
"There were previously aggrieved concerns regarding the pipes in the neighborhood. We have taken this opportunity to address them, as well. Upgraded plumbing systems are going to be implemented throughout the entire neighborhood. From the ground to the rebuilt buildings and homes. We intend to fully lower the chances of water damage from impacting the neighborhood, the days of the streets flooding when it rains, will become a distant memory, one that we will all be glad to put behind us."
"Finally, our end goal for this project, is by the end of September, it's ambitious, but doable. We would like to have everyone back in their homes before the beginning of the holiday season. I now open up the floor to all of you in attendance. If you have comments, questions, or concerns about the project, you are welcome to voice them."
