Chapter Summary: 

With the apocalypse looming over Stull Cemetery, Sam and Dean are caught in the middle of a biblical confrontation that will change everything.

Chapter Preview: Dean is beat until he can’t feel his lips, until his tongue is a numb weight held back behind his teeth. He can’t speak any more, so he takes the front of his brother’s shirt in his fist and holds on, hoping Sam can feel his knuckles against his heart. He reminds himself that it’s Sam’s heart beating, that he’s still in there… somewhere.

Lucifer’s fist is barely noticeable where clenched tight in the air, ready to knock Dean out or kill him. But there’s a pause, long enough for some of the black around his vision to subside. Dean struggles to breathe through his mouth, but it all tastes like metal, and soon he’s coughing to free his airways from the blood.

Something is happening, here in the silence, and Dean’s heart hammers against his chest.
